This is one the top five concert videos I've ever seen. The quality of the recording is incredible. I was never a big Chicago fan, but holy cow! I discovered Terry Kath in this live concert video, and I was ashamed that I hadn't been aware of his talent long before.
Yeah. In fact, Chicago played a few shows at Tanglewood. I think more than any other band. They got a lot of love from the lovely folks of Tanglewood. Every video of Chicago, playing there, shows WHY they were loved so much. Kath's death created a huge hole, in the collective heart of Humanity, that has never been totally filled. If the Terry Kath biographical film, made by Terry's daughter, is still on YT, or Amazon, watch it, if you haven't, already. Ah hell, even if you have seen it. She went searching for knowledge of the father who died when she was 3 or 4, I think, and she ended up with a beautiful story of the father she barely knew, but loved, anyway.
T.k...the ultimate the real deal.....singer..song writer..lead guitar that kills..rhythm..that nobody can even come close to..heart felt..he was a human conduit of music..channeled it like no other..Terry was simply the best.!!
Rhythm and Lead guitar heading a seven person band, commanding it. All of that, add Lead Vocals at the same time, all seamlessly, and you have Terry Kath.
This is probably my favorite song from my favorite live concert performance. It's got everything: funk, soul, blues, hard riffs, protest lyrics and an absolutely awesome flute solo. But what Terry Kath does at about 8:15 is straight ascension to the realms of the musical gods.
Terry Kath, it was only CHICAGO with you. He is PHENOMENAL in this, unbelievable. Every other band member was brilliant too, what an amazing concert that would have been to see.
Thank God my dad knows music 19 year old here who thinks oldies are the best. Music to my ears doesn't compute until you hear true talent. Thanks Scotty
Terry Kath just rocks! Just blown away by his performance, his vocals, his guitar!!! Such a great band; this should be homework for any new rock n' roll band on how its done!
This is the song that started me on a life long love of Chicago, Thank you cousin Sharon for that! It still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. What a groove, and the message, we can stop if we only try.

Thumbs up to 'If only Peter would be satisfied playing the best baseline for the best band'. Peter Cetera was actually one hell of a bass player to be able to keep up with Terry as seen on the CTA album especially 'Introductions' and the 'Liberations' on side 4.
funny when people talk about guitar gods they say names like Hendrix, Page, Van Halen, Clapton, but u never hear Terry’s name … and he had just as much talent as all of them. This video highlights how Terry Kath could sing and play lead guitar simultaneously. Very hard thing to do. Even most of the guitar greats switch to rhythm playing whilst they’re singing. Chicago in the 70s was really an authentic Statesonian band because in the flow fast style, look, it was a jazz, rock, pop and blues and fusion band, it really was a school and paradigm for bands with the same or similar rhythms, really the first formation of Chicago and unbeatable, those who held Chicago back afterwards were Champlin and Scheff, but already in the disdainful mode, memory and regression, Cetera felt very much about Kath's departure, hence this unbearable longing for him and he decided to have a solo career, they were really very united Kath and Cetera, after the death of Cetera's friend, the band was not the same and had no charm, but if it had stayed with Champlin and Scheff, Chicago would have preserved its primary essence. One of the baddest jams, and political statements, ever! And sadly, still so relevant today. Terry Kath and the gang were some bad boys, I got to open for them long ago, but unfortunately it was the first tour they did without him...
