One of the things I think is really unappreciated about Metallica is how flat out amazing the actual music is. There's a reason so many classical musicians love Metallica and why it translates so well to classical interpretation. The music is just good. Doing it on guitar and bass with rock sensibility gives it more punch and power, and James' vocals punch you right in the throat, but the music itself is gorgeous.
Can I tell you why I love this channel? It's because you are all of us. We all have those songs that, when we hear them the first time, we are changed and you have given us the opportunity to relive our first listens through your first listens.
When I was around 10 years old I had been listening to whatever my mother was listening to such as Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie, my cousin got me Master of puppets after it came out when battery went to distortion it gave me chills been hooked ever since! Changed my life!!!!
Although Metallica did some great work in 1996-present day. The 1996 Metallica album called “Load” is where a lot of fans tend to see Metallica as not being Metallica anymore. Metallica has still been Metallica, but on the 1996 “Load” and 1997 “Reload” albums, Metallica moves away from very fast songs, changed their sound, wrote more melodic (and shorter) songs. I’d classify those two albums as “rock” albums and not “metal” albums. I like a lot of the songs on those albums. I’m not a metalhead. I’m a fan of good music in general. I like Metallica because they tackle tough issues such as suicide (Fade To Black), the horrors of war (One, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Disposable Heroes), our corrupt justice system (And Justice For All), child abuse (The Unforgiven), opposing the death penalty (Ride The Lightning), Drug addiction (Master Of Puppets), alcoholism (Sad But True), the potentially high cost of fame (Moth Into Flame) and Artificial Intelligence replacing. Jobs that humans used to do (Spit Out The Bone). They take the music and the message each song conveys very seriously, so they caught my interest 26 years ago. James Hetfield (the singer/rhythm guitar player) started writing more introspective lyrics on 1992’s “The Black Album” and started to reveal more of himself in the lyrics and music. Exploring Metallica is a journey that will never hurt you and if you enjoy instruments, there’s a lot to like in Metallica’s catalog. Brilliant reaction! Subbed!
This was the 1st power ballad from the band. They were given some shit about, as compared to their previous songs released. Nobody was doing stuff like that in the "Thrash Metal" scene at the time. James wrote this song from a very dark place. The bands equipment was stolen out of the trailer, to include a Marshall amplifier his mom bought for him before she passed away. As dark as this song comes off, it has helped me (as well as other fans) through a lot of shit. The mix of acoustic guitar and heavy riffs make this an awesome combination.
