I was in high school when this came out. I played this for my mom who hated metal music. I didn’t tell her who was playing, didn’t tell her what kind of music it was, just asked her to listen to this song I liked. In the first 3 seconds she was like “Oohh... this is pretty!” Then when James starts singing “Oohh... he has a nice voice!” Then Metallica kicked in. She didn’t know what think. It confused her to like something she didn’t understand. But after that, she would put Metallica cassettes in my Christmas stocking... ❤️
My daughter is a year older than you and has been listening to most of this music you try her entire life. She always tells me that the young black people she knows are always so amazed at the music she listens to and that usually all they have heard is hip hop. I am glad you guys are willing to try new music genres. With all the racial tension nowadays, nothing can unite people better than good music. Love watching you, keep it up
When I was that age in late 70s and early 80s I was exposed to all genres because it was heard on radio and friends I hung around listened to EVERYTHING and I very much appreciated the variety. What fascinated me was that all of this wonderful music was born out of the Blues. That made me want to learn and listen even more. I love my hip-hop too but love my soft rock and heavy metal too.
I'm in my 50's and rock n' roll is my personal fountain of youth. I was lucky enough to hang out in Harvard Square as a kid and experience all ethnicities, cultures and music. Unfortunately, Harvard Sq. is gentrified and lost a lot of it's vibe. 😒
I feel so OLD. We were wearing the exact same thing back in the 80s. Ripped jeans, jean jackets; with patches on them of your favorite bands, long hair, etc. What's old is new again.
You must hear a song remix called "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed... Gives you chills. They have the same vibe as Metallica.. But the lead singer voice.. Woooow
If you like the feel in this song, you should try "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche and "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses. While you're at it, try "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne. Love watching you guys experience all this great music across so many genres! Thanks for taking viewer suggestions!!
Back in the day you had to get concert tickets from ticket master. Either wait in line at a ticket master location or call. People would line up for days like Black Friday to get Metallica tickets!! So my dad would call ticket master 10 minutes before they went on sale, ask a bunch of questions about kids shows coming or something else, then when the clock turned 12 he already had them on the phone and would get great seats. Got by brother front row (off to the side) for Metallica!!
back in the 80's we'd go to concerts & you could bring your cigarette lighter in & songs like these the entire arena would have them lit swaying back & forth above their heads, quite a sight for 20,000 ppl to do it all at once, gooood times 🥰🤘🏼
You have been showing us your reactions to almost all the music I've been exposed to in my 60 years (except show tunes, classical, and opera - you should put those on the list!). What makes me grin is that you have a particular love of heavy metal. Rock on, guys!
My now-almost-40-year-old son introduced me to Metallica's music WHEN HE WAS IN THE 3RD GRADE! He gave me an appreciation for this band, and I've like them ever since. I finally got to attend one of their concerts a year ago -- on my 65th birthday. But my favorite musical artist is still James Taylor. (If you're unfamiliar with him -- as I suspect you are -- you should check out his classic, "Fire and Rain" sometime.)
Hahaha! My sister and I introduced our mum to Metallica when we were about 10 and 12, I think. She wasn't impressed, until we pointed out that all the lyrics were against war, drugs, etc., and then she slowly got hooked by the crazy musical skills. Now my sis has kids, and doting Grandma is glad that the girls are being raised on nice wholesome metal instead of trashy radio pop! XD
Axl is like that dude, He won't let anyone film, play or record, their music, BUT DUDE I AGREE WITH YOU, I'D LOVE TO SEE TWINS reaction to CIVIL WAR, think they'd love it, Peace out!!!
I was shook when she made a special musical appearance on American Horror Story: Coven. She has such a distinctive voice. Then again, most legendary artists do.
One of the greatest love songs of all time. Written by James when he was on the road and missing his girlfriend, hence the lyrics "so close, no matter how far". Song was written while he was on the phone to her and he was plucking the chords on his guitar.
You might like a Metallica album called S&M. It was recorded live with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. Awesome hearing and seeing heavy metal and the symphony. I understand they will be releasing a new album with the SF Symphony in October 2020 called S&M2.
"Unforgiven" and "Nothing else matter" are 2 of my favorite Metallica songs. But let's go further down to basics: Jimmy Hendrix: "All along the watchtower", "Hey Joe" and "Purple haze", please. Enjoy! XXX
I grew up listening to this band love them... James has an iconic voice... Most people know its a Metallica song with in the first few music notes.. their style is their own... just like ACDC, Arrowsmith, or go into big hair banbs.. but two of my favorite voices are Mr James Hatfield and Edie Vedder
It's funny that you talk about Metallica as a mellow ride. That's so funny! Back in the day, they were fierce and raw like other metal bands in that era. They and the other bands were considered to be a bad influence. I love this album!
I am from Finland which is a northern country that loves melancholic music and heavy metal. I don't love the heavy metal stuff that much but even i have to say that metallica is one of a kind. One of the best bands from US. I have a specially angsty teenage memory from this song. I remember when i was about 13 years old this song was always playing on mtv and in the radio. One time i was in a public youth house and everybody where just lying around on the sofas really flegmatically listening to this song and nodding their heads. All the lights were also out. It totally smelled like teen spirit 😅
metallica is one my top 5 all time greatest bands ever. and this song is one my favorite songs ever I could listen to this everyday . It is a pure masterpiece . I remember when this came out I have all the metallic cds I seen them live in concert there still playing you should go see them fn awesome they have flames and everything . its amazing the show they put on and so many great classic songs icon legends and this song is pure perfection. I know you are going love this song so much . also especially they slow it down even though there still considered metal rock this song is so good. I can't wait to watch your reaction to the perfect sound of it also. I remember when this came out when I was in school was one the greatest albums ever put out the black album.metallica has so many great songs I have all there cds there a lot of them. I remember when the producer wanted and asked them to slow down there music for one song and make there sound good to attract more people they didn't want to do this song but eventually they got convinced to do a slower song and they made a masterpiece and its one of there many up there for one there best songs but they have so many other great songs also.still so powerful even slow and the meaning lyrics guitar riffs amazing the drums and the singing perfection love it
I’m waiting for a famous guitarist to give you guitar lessons. I’m 53 yo and just starting to learn. You have your entire lives ahead of you. While we’re at it, let’s go for voice lessons, too. I’m also hoping you open your generation to the awesomely wide world of music (wwm).
I was about your age when I first saw this video so watching this transports me back to that day. That experience opened my eyes to all kinds of music that I closed off to and is what made me into a life long fan! Now I’m a huge fan of you and your brother for this and so many other reaction videos. Thank you for letting me relive my young adulthood through your eyes.
I never listened to Metallica before except for right here with you Tim! It's nothing like I thought they would sound like. I actually like this ...Thanks!
Ok I've been going from song to song with you and I love all the different songs (styles and generation differences) Try "System of a Down" lonely days is amazing! Later I'll request some Latin tunes.
One of my favorite songs Metallica sings! James Hatfield is a BEAST!! Lars Ulrich is one of the best drummers EVER!! He's the one that started the @copyright laws for music!!

I'm 18 and absolutely love this music I have every genre in my playlist, country, rock, heavy metal, rap, pop, indie, you name it I got it
I'm in my 50's and rock n' roll is my personal fountain of youth.
I was lucky enough to hang out in Harvard Square as a kid and experience all ethnicities, cultures and music. Unfortunately, Harvard Sq. is gentrified and lost a lot of it's vibe. 😒
@@sonjaleesloth YESSSS! Harvard Square was like no other at one point in time........our city has that STRONG music magic.....

When he said he wasn`t even born in 1992, I just died.
Metallica ruled the world back then :)
I really like your appreciation for all types of music and you don't judge shit 🤘 keep doing your thing bro🇺🇸
Totally agree👍
It does help when the song is good. Like this one. Let’s be honest there are some terrible songs out there lol
Love these kids!!!
This is my favorite Metallica song!!!
The whole album/cd is awesome!!
The black album😎
Dude, mad respect! Being open to great music and to be honest I really think you are a fan already! Well done!
One of the highlights of my day was seeing this in my feed!

Yes Silent Lucidity is a MUST
Oh wow! Yes! I remember the first time I heard November Rain. It blew my mind. I’d love to see their reaction to it.
OMG YES LOVE November Rain..💖💗😍
Had to Rewind n repeat on cassette player!
Great suggestions. Love every single one of these songs.
November Rain for SURE!!!
This song is my Anthem as I get older in life, it says it all. I have given instructions this song is to be played at my Memorial service someday.

I did this several times...matter-of-fact, we would stay the night waiting in line so we could get our tickets or a good wristband number.
Your dad was a genius
Yesss!! I've camped out a few times to get tickets!!
🙋🏼♀️🤘🏼 yup, camped out a lot for all sorts of concerts back in the day. Good times.
back in the 80's we'd go to concerts & you could bring your cigarette lighter in & songs like these the entire arena would have them

Now it's phone lights, but still holds somewhat the same emotion
This makes me feel so old lol so true. Now it’s cell phone lights 😂
🔥🔥🔥🤘🏽
Lol...with the cell phone lights you're not burning your thumb when the lighter gets hot.
Yes, such an awesome feeling to be at those concerts and hear the music in a large open arena and see the flicking of bics! Felt so free!
LOVE your show!
Also, heavy metal is when you are still crying but have no more tears :)
@Dustin Price excellent way to put it
I see what you just did there! ;D

One of my all time favorite songs. I am so glad to see another generation stretch outside their genre and find great music!
The whole album is a masterpiece🤘
This was my wedding song in 1998! Love this one so much!
Was mine last year (2019)!
Damn I was going to go to bed. Lol now I gotta listen to another.
There is something almost relaxing about this studio version. their just being themselves. like u said, having fun and making music.
I would love to see your review for Stevie Nicks “Edge of Seventeen”. you’ll be blown away!
I was shook when she made a special musical appearance on American Horror Story: Coven. She has such a distinctive voice. Then again, most legendary artists do.
Definitely
I love that song myself, but it's not the most accessible for a new listener who hasn't read up on the meaning of the lyrics.
Good one! She got a lot of the song after visiting Petty's wife.
I second this!
It's a simple beautiful song...still stands strong till this day...
One of my favorite songs ever. That says a lot. I have faves from all genres litterally! Classical, country, rock, rap, funk, disco on and on.
This song still gives me chills. I love how much you love them. It’s timeless.
My favorite MetallicA song, and Nothing Else Matters. Fantastic reaction again.
Another message. Living life their way. They can kill it with the metal but still put out ballads like this. Awesome .
Music back 60-90 especially 80s wow! Rock full emotions n all. Music in brings all of us together!! I love 80s!!
One of the greatest love songs of all time. Written by James when he was on the road and missing his girlfriend, hence the lyrics "so close, no matter how far". Song was written while he was on the phone to her and he was plucking the chords on his guitar.
