That’s why we wear white wedding dresses and not black ones. Being pure has always been a good thing for centuries now. It’s not something you can forget. I don't know anything about this particular product, but other skin bleaching products are dangerous, physically (even fatal(, not just self esteem. Can't understand where Denicia has the nerve to say to Phinnah Ikeji she's not 'natural' because she has a bit of lipstick on!! Has she looked at herself in the mirror? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what I behold is Denicia looks like a hot mess! And it's a shame, because not only dos she have self hatred for her skin colour/tone, she hates her hair as well. I can more abide the wig, cus she can always stop wearing it (if it hasn't damaged her real hair), but what is she to do about reversing the effects of bleaching her skin? he World Health Organization recommends... 'strengthening the message that everyone should be happy with their natural skin colour.'
I agree with her. Shes a singer an entertainer why should she be the role model? Dont those kids have parents to look up to?? I cant believe that people are still that close minded its 2015 people let it go
I don't know if i should be shocked by your comment or fee pity for you. If you haven't already noticed society raises kids regardless of how much influence your parents have on you. Half of the day kids are in school(society which is mostly made up of the media and celebs,) learning from whats around them they have no control over what they encounter or witness, no control over what they hear and no matter how strong of a person you are your unconscious mind soon begins to take in certain experiences, encounters, or conversations and they influence you knowing or unknowingly. Personally i don't consider her my role model and i feel very happy in my own dark skin but it takes a while to get to thats point(speaking for dark skin kids) yes my parents are my role models and i am grateful but not every child has parents some kids are in foster care, or their parents are constantly working to out a roof over their heads so when your asking don't they have parents THINK BEYOND YOUR NOSE. I would highly recommend you to take sociology. *this is coming from a 12th grader*
charicebiggestfan i think you have not very aware of the astonishing huge, endless power of outlet medias, the industry of entertaining specially in this modern lifetime... which parent, alone now, can certify that their kids are exactly what they want them to do? in my own opinion, she can clan claimed that her role model was her grandma, but where she came from, what did she have unless her grandma, what is really her background? things are not going to be only on the one way...
+Joy. A. Well said. Even the schools we send our children to have a lot of media influence. My son comes home singing songs that I don't even let him listen to--but he heard it and learned it at school from staff members. So it isn't even just his peers influencing him. You expressed exactly how it is--so I needn't say anymore.
I think it's hilarious how the woman who was conducting the interview kept sort of attacking this singer, and by the end of the interview she is just like "thanks for coming" with a much nicer tone. Lol
KillieKingdom Oh, I didn't know there was a dialect called ghetto... obviously you know about it and I don't, so please feel free to explain this to us.
CN Usmile I've heard about Ghetto but know very little about it to be honest, because I'm British.and the phrase you used is not recognised in the British language. This is the reason why I initially thought, it may be ghetto as it's spoken and used a lot in the US. I've never heard it used here for sure..
***** This girl is hardcore street. She probably has a long trail of weak men who she has destroyed. Tell you now, she cares nothing for little black girls.
And the thing that makes her nice looking is her black features big lips and her body. I wouldn't want to be light for nothing in the world. Everyone has beautiful people but I love my big lips and curly hair and BLACK features.
There's nothing wrong with wanting even-toned skin, but it's taking it a step to far when you're using chemicals and products to lighten the overall complexion of your skin. I hate that there are people out there who don't like the complexion of their skin. What's wrong with variety? What's wrong with darker or lighter skin complexions? I wish society didn't make having darker skin seem like a bad thing. Why can't we all just focus on being ourselves? Why do we need to be like everyone else? I just wish and hope for the day that every human being learns to love themselves for who they are and accept everyone else the same.
This is so sad. She would come off a whole lot more intelligent if she just told the truth- which is she thinks she looks better pale and wants to help other brown girls become as pale as her advertised pictures.
The only difference between her and Beyonce,Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, keri Hilson...the list goes on, is that she was honest. She saw a profitable opportunity and went for it; black girls around the world are pressured to look like Beyonce, don't hate the player, hate the game. At least her product is hydroquinone free, as far as I know. Maybe she should have named it 'Glowenicious' instead of the tragically obvious whitennicious
oh and btw..how can u be happy walking around the street not looking like u were born naturally, from your fake hair to pounds of make up and unnatural skin tone? like when people compliment u, if they even compliment her, how can she even appreciate it when she's not her true and natural self? I don't feel worthy or happy with compliments when I'm walking out all fake versus when I'm just natural and happy and actually do get way more compliments..oh well whatever rocks her delusional boat.
Honestly there is no point in having a conversation with someone like this, she knows the truth and she knows why she is selling it, it’s embarrassing that the white Lady understands this more than she does 🤷🏽♀️
I think the premise for this interview is absolute crap and I don't see why they are singling Dencia out as someone that has an effect on girls' self esteem. If that's the problem here, then why don't we also interview all those celebrities that undergo plastic surgery to change how they look. They might also be 'influencing' young girls and damaging their self esteem. This is absolute crap! everyone has their choices. Dencia is a business woman and she is doing well. Let's leave it at that and stop bringing up petty controversies. There are far more important products, ideas and services in the world today that cause harm both mentally and physically to young girls.
People are mocking her but they knw damn well dat society worship light skin, dis woman has guts 2 talk de truth dat most people are afraid 2 say, de interviewer need 2 get a life!!(south Africa)
Trinity5722 She doesnt own a single fucking person any explanation for why. Do you realize how bullshit your mentality is that you think she owes you an explanation for he skin color? You are amazing in your blindness.
***** ...I see what you like on your You Tube Page, so it explains..Who You Are and What you are About...Peace!!!...Positive Energy Always Corrects Errors...
At the end of the day, she looks super stupid with this new skin tone, new nose, and blonde tumbleweed on her head. If this is the person they want pushing this product, they must not like money. If I would come out looking like that advert, I would run so far away from that product. Then again, I don't hate myself. I'll pray for her...because clearly she had no one in her life to teach her the right way.
Sorry never heard her music.............NEVER heard of her until the product was highlighted by many of people. If you don't know your history you are DOOMED!
I hated when someone get cut off especially when a person is giving answer! If I use this product it's only for a reason like uneven skin tone and acne scar. So I agree on both side! I guess let everybody be what they want to be. Whether if we dark, light, medium complexion. It's their opinion. I gets really dark in the summer and very light in the winter but still loving it. The only thing I'm not confident about myself is uneven skin tone on my face my forehead, nose, chin is really dark and my cheeks is really light.
How tragic! It's a shame that Phinnah Ikeji didn't really give a good account of herself by defending her position more articulately, but who can blame her? She was really up against it. Dencia simply crushed the opposition in the only manner she knows best; she's got her talking points and she's sticking to them. And she does so aggressively. Whatever opinions you may have of her and her products, she's not backing down. The fact that it is selling means that many women are buying it. And she's right in a way. She's not saying buy Whitenicious and look like me. It is implied, and so caveat emptor. Those who are foolish enough to want to look like her already have the desire to bleach their skins by whatever means is necessary. All across the world, from Asia, the Americas, to Africa, brown skinned women are bleaching their skins, and she's cashing in on that insecurity, irrespective of how she comes across. I'll never bleach or allow my child to do it, but who can't stop adults from doing as they please. This interview was a car-crash. So like I said, caveat emptor.
She missed what they were trying to communicate to her. It's not just about the shade of your skin or imperfections, it's about *representation*. It's about the younger generation. If all the WOC who are well-known in the world were bleaching their skin-- such as Oprah Winfrey or Lupita Nyong'o-- that would send the message to younger WOC that being a WOC is something to be ashamed of. No little girl should ever feel like she isn't normal or that she isn't beautiful the way she is. On a side note, Beyonce has been named the world's most influential person, Lupita is named the most beautiful person in the world by People's magazine, And Oprah Winfrey's net worth is 2.9 billion. There is nothing more important than getting your name out there, especially if you are a minority in some way, and representing who you are and your roots. *There is nothing more important than being a person who sets the right example for the younger generations to come.*
BINGO! If all these people here are truly about people accepting everyone, they wouldnt be hating on a black woman wanting to have lighter skin. You wont see me hating on white women wanting to look darker. More power to them if it makes them happy and they arent telling other people what to do. People saying that wanting to look lighter could only stem from some racist/self hate angle without actual evidence is just people projecting their world view onto this situation.
That is one very funny accent. She need to listen more and speak less. Shame on parents whose children look up to pop stars and actors as their role model.
I am totally against the whole skin bleaching trend but I find it crazy how everyone attacks black people for bleaching their skin and doesn't say not a word about white people tanning. Both tanning and bleaching are known to cause skin cancer.
I’m so glad the interview lady ended the interview with the black uk model because that lady wasn’t even women enough to acknowledge the point they were making and explain why everybody is upset about her message
Live and let live. Dencia knows who she is when she looks in the mirror. She can give these ambiguous answers on TV, but she has to answer to herself ultimately. You can't run from the truth. I hope she finds peace and happiness.
You know some women do have dark spots like me I love my brown skin but I do not like having my face 3 different shades of it 😥 ask any acne suffer.....
She came in on the defensive so talking with her was pointless. She even made it a point to disrespect the other woman on the show. I don't even know who this woman is and I won't be following up on her. But I do feel bad for the young black girls who do know who she is and feel bad about their beautiful dark skin.
Wow, “You could have come in here with no makeup bare lip cracked and DARK like you are” She literally just sat here and insulted that woman’s beautiful and perfectly healthy skin tone on national tv trying to say she is impartial. shocking
Its a global stigma everybodies brainwashed. This kind of reminds me of the Borg in Star Trek. How they force other species into their collective for assimilation with ultimate goal of achieving "perfection".
Its sad that she will not own up to the truth. She is promoting that lighter is better. Even if the product says get rid of dark spots, she is clearly advertising skin lightening, not blemish removal. Yes, it is her choice how she chooses to live her life which also includes lightening her skin, but I have a problem with her not being honest about it.
+Angela Grant Exactly! She can do whatever she wants to herself, but just own it. But I guess that is her right too--to NOT own up to it. So instead she says stuff about how her role model is her dark brown sister. What does that have to do with you thinking whiter and lighter is better? Her lack of honesty was what annoyed me most. She could have been like "What do you expect? I live in a world that says the further away from European in appearance you are is the further away from beauty you are. So yes--I believe the lie that white is better. So what you wanna ask me now Ms. I Was Born White and Lovin It?" lol
It’s not her responsibility to train anyone, parents train your children she has every right to live her life to the full as she chooses. The moderator was biased it was easy for Ikeji to remain calm because she was not the one under attack. People live and let live.

First time I've heard of her, whoever looks up to her must have extremely low self esteem.
Lol. Thanks for that.
'strengthening the message that everyone should be happy with their natural skin colour.'
check out the chemicals used by black women to relax their hair. then you understand the push for natural hair in the professional world.
*this is coming from a 12th grader*
charicebiggestfan
i think you have not very aware of the astonishing huge,
endless power of outlet medias, the industry of entertaining
specially in this modern lifetime...
which parent, alone now, can certify that their kids are exactly what they want them to do?
in my own opinion, she can clan claimed that her role model was her grandma,
but where she came from, what did she have unless her grandma,
what is really her background?
things are not going to be only on the one way...
+Joy. A. Well said. Even the schools we send our children to have a lot of media influence. My son comes home singing songs that I don't even let him listen to--but he heard it and learned it at school from staff members. So it isn't even just his peers influencing him. You expressed exactly how it is--so I needn't say anymore.
Who is Dencia? And she is a celebrity? Who put that horrid blonde mop on her head? She looks like a man in drag....
Same reaction here this is the first time I've seen and heard about her... o which planet is she famous on again?
Exactly!!!
Its cuz she us african she does stuff in africa
BR3NNADOLL Apparently she doesn't do good stuff in Africa.
Unless you count promoting white cream as a good act..
I think that cream has bleached her brain.
SHE IS SOOO ANGRY! WE KNOW WHY!
Paul Mooney needs to see this.
What comes from her mouth doesn't matter. The flowing blonde weave and whitened skin says everything.
As a white guy with blond hair and blue eyes, I think nothing beats dark beauty in a woman.
Because your kind have a fetish.
I think it's hilarious how the woman who was conducting the interview kept sort of attacking this singer, and by the end of the interview she is just like "thanks for coming" with a much nicer tone. Lol
I think it's the British way of journalism. Kind of like Piers Morgan.
She's goin' HAM on her! Won't even let the girl get in a word, but it's funny as hell.
This is a very dangerous and manipulative woman.
STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rjravaz Bunch of degenerates.
***** Never take a womans word about anything. Always Judge them by their actions to get to the truth!
*****
This girl is hardcore street. She probably has a long trail of weak men who she has destroyed. Tell you now, she cares nothing for little black girls.
***** That's true, but that applies to everyone.
And the thing that makes her nice looking is her black features big lips and her body. I wouldn't want to be light for nothing in the world. Everyone has beautiful people but I love my big lips and curly hair and BLACK features.
YouMakeMeFaceplam666
They may be enhanced but her lips and booty were big before. This is not surprising, i mean she is black
I think she missed the right studio set, She was invited to The Jerry Springer show :D
"Could've gone natural with your lips cracked and dark like you are" ... wow
I just wish and hope for the day that every human being learns to love themselves for who they are and accept everyone else the same.
why is her accent so off tho.. like stop trying to speak with an American accent.. be yourself to begin with
She's entertaining as hell lol
I agree with you
I agree with you
I agree with you
I agree with you
I agree with you
oh and btw..how can u be happy walking around the street not looking like u were born naturally, from your fake hair to pounds of make up and unnatural skin tone? like when people compliment u, if they even compliment her, how can she even appreciate it when she's not her true and natural self? I don't feel worthy or happy with compliments when I'm walking out all fake versus when I'm just natural and happy and actually do get way more compliments..oh well whatever rocks her delusional boat.
Dencia has a future in politics... #talkingincircles
Honestly there is no point in having a conversation with someone like this, she knows the truth and she knows why she is selling it, it’s embarrassing that the white Lady understands this more than she does 🤷🏽♀️
That’s a great host/interviewer. She really knows how to ask questions and drive to the point!
People are mocking her but they knw damn well dat society worship light skin, dis woman has guts 2 talk de truth dat most people are afraid 2 say, de interviewer need 2 get a life!!(south Africa)
im not saying i agree with this woman, but the interviewer was asking for er opinion then not letting he get a word in edge ways to give it
xsammyx101x Because the woman being interviewed can not come up with a great explanation for her bleaching her skin..
***** dude im alreaddy white im not bleaching my skin man
+Fuch Goog Well she did agree to come on the show lol the only reason you would not give a reason at that time is because you don't have one
Her stupidity baffles me! Essentially she's saying that she used to be a dark spot !!! 😳😥😭
I'll just wait another 5 or 10 years and see what her products do to her skin.
In the meantime I'll keep brown and semi happy. 😘
This lady is promoting lower self-esteem to the dark skin and she is on defensive because she is known it's wrong.
What happened to her lips? Must she try to change her accent? She looks so ridiculous. Smh!
Sorry never heard her music.............NEVER heard of her until the product was highlighted by many of people. If you don't know your history you are DOOMED!
She's 21 :O!
She looks 35!!
WTF
I hated when someone get cut off especially when a person is giving answer! If I use this product it's only for a reason like uneven skin tone and acne scar. So I agree on both side! I guess let everybody be what they want to be. Whether if we dark, light, medium complexion. It's their opinion. I gets really dark in the summer and very light in the winter but still loving it. The only thing I'm not confident about myself is uneven skin tone on my face my forehead, nose, chin is really dark and my cheeks is really light.
She’s has amazing bone structure I really don’t understand why she wants to change her skin colour .
This interviewer owns my heart!
Its 2015 people skin color is not an issue anymore, some people wants to get darker while some wants to be lighter there is nothing wrong with that
"Everybody needs whitenicious"
That is one very funny accent. She need to listen more and speak less. Shame on parents whose children look up to pop stars and actors as their role model.
She can bleach her skin if she wants...end of story. She is her own person, she is no one's mother!
How tragic... I rather feel sorry for her. I dont think we can hate her anymore than she hate herself.
I sitting there in that white Whig. Come on
lol.... this is what I call the anatomy of a self loathing Afrikan woman,...
Damn this makes me wanna cry.. Will the pain, hate, and misery ever leave the brains and hearts of our people?
Wow, “You could have come in here with no makeup bare lip cracked and DARK like you are” She literally just sat here and insulted that woman’s beautiful and perfectly healthy skin tone on national tv trying to say she is impartial. shocking
Man people hate her, but at the end of the day her prudocts are all sold... I personally don't give a F. I'm brown skin and love my skin
It's funny that you say "brown skin"...why not simply say "black skin" you are black after all; or are you not?
+mogzydoll12 because we all black Afraican or american. You can use the adjectif black or brown for me its the same
+mogzydoll12 you're the onr seeing a different
+mogzydoll12 Her skin is technically brown.
I wonder why beyonce doesn't get questioned about this too?
