I just purchased one of these pens yesterday at the art store. Love the design, not a fan of the ball point refill that it came with and was hoping that Lamy had a refill that was a rollerball. Doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately, so I will take your advice and get a broad refill and give that a go and see if that makes a difference.
When the ink sucks, you can make one. When buying a new cartridge, there is a grey cap on it. Cut it to the right size and also cut some thin ballpoint pen cartridge (like the jetstream one) and put it in, it will be useable.q
There is an adapter that converts the m22 to a D1 refill, but the D1 has to be shortened to work correctly. Probably not a practical solution, but I guess if someone had to have a Pico but wanted to use a Jetstream or Zebra or whatever refill, it might be worth looking into.
@@inkdependence That's what I was thinking. But any ballpoint that I can fit a Jetstream into--D1 or otherwise--gets a Jetstream refill. Anyways, this guy has all kinds of weirdo adapters for sale: www.shapeways.com/shops/toftylight?section=Refill+Adapters&s=0 I'm not affiliated with that shop or anything, I'm just a ballpoint refill anarchist, I guess. I managed to grind/modify an Aurora Magellan BP to use D1 refills instead of the ho-hum Aurora Wagon refills. It's basically my favorite ballpoint now!
@@inkdependence i have heard from two people that the Schmidt 635 mini D1 refill when inserted from the front nose tip of the pen rather than the usual back then it fits and works fine ......can you plz confirm this as I need to buy it, it will be very helpful, thanks!
Hey can you try putting a Schmidt 635 mini D1 refill from the front of the nose of the pen after opening it ?.....i wanted to confirm whether it works or not as two users mentioned online and if it works it will help me a lot coz in my pincode noone delivers the original M22 and i really really want the pico so can you plz confirm it I'll be highly obliged , thanks!......and ya how much does this refill actually last ?
That's an interesting idea, but it doesn't really work. The D1 is the same diameter as the M22's nose cone, so it fits, but it's not the same at all otherwise and any pressure on the tip (like writing) just pushes the refill into the body of the pen. Sorry, but that doesn't work.
Just FYI, Lamy actually seems to sell a little leather sleeve specifically for the Pico. :) So that might be a solution for pocket carry. ;)

Yes the ball point quality is so weak. Don't understand what the big deal is. 70 dollar for that
whats the jet stream refill you used on the green 849. It looks so nice.

Really?? Huh. I'll have to give that a shot.
I have always problems with the m22 refill, is it just me? The ink dont work well
do they sell a fine point refill?
they do, theres an M22 F in black or blue
Is it a metal or plastic construction? Thanks!
Some of each, but the outside is mostly metal.

Oh, that's interesting. I think D1 refills are underrated, but it might be more trouble than it's worth to alter them.
