I'm only 6 numbers away in this weeks Lottery from owning a Viper! I know the Chevy and Porsche guys were not happy that the Viper ACR took 1st in Motor Trend's comparison test back in 2016. My guess is that -- IF -- there ever is another Viper we'll hear a whir sound instead of a V10.
I can vouch for that. I bought a gen V 3 years ago when values tanked. A launch edition with 500mi and now I have a second gen V that was 30k more. Excellent car, highly recommend! Viper lives matter

The Gen 5 Viper was one of the best looking cars ever made and also one of the most underappreciated. I think this car is already starting to become one of those "I wish I had bought one when they were new" cars. The price was definitely an issue before Dodge dropped it by 15k and so was the fact that they made SRT a brand with this being the flagship. SRT Viper just doesn't roll off the tongue like Dodge Viper does. It's a shame too because the car was fantastic, it just got overshadowed by the less expensive C6 Corvette ZR1 and then when Dodge came out with the Hellcat in 2015, you could get a more powerful and more practical car for far less money. They shot themselves in the foot.

If I had to choose between mopar I would say cuda, viper, demon. the viper can be really quick with 1 mod nitrous for the lower side of the rpm into high mph on a roll can be really formidable. Build the motors of one of these on a twin turbo and e85 and it’s a done deal for one to go Mclearen hunting.

I couldn't help but notice the only place the passenger had to grab onto was the center console "oh shit" handle next to the gear shifter. Definitely interesting placement but makes sense with the size of the vehicle lol.
The slower acceleration is only partly due to the gearing, but the main reason is the crank weight is 20 pounds more then a small block V8 and the flywheel size and weight.
I’ve been tempted to get one but cannot see myself in one with many other options. The viper is a car one must appreciate and accept the fact it was designed for a specific reason. FCA could have added many modernized features but it was meant to be raw as you mentioned. Thanks for the awesome review!
Ah, one of the few American Supercars, much like yourself, these have intrigued me since my childhood. I always figure if I hit it big, I'll buy one. I've always found the fact that they're compromised a bit, part of the appeal, much like a Lambo or a Ferrari. They're supposed to be slightly uncomfortable and impractical. What a beast of a machine, here's hoping they decide to bring it back sooner rather than later!

Oh man thats a tough one, because I like new & old school and also love the Vipers. My first car was a 68 Charger that I got in 82 when I was 17, and am currently building a Challenger SRT8. I look at it like this, Challenger demons or hellcats are my favorite modern muscle cars and the ACR Viper is the #1 road course machine ever built. Someone might freak out over that statement, but it is the facts and has more records than any other vehicle in automotive racing history with 13. In 2015, it set records at the top road courses in the country and isn't even a close second. Since that time, a ZL1 reset one of them at Laguna Seca and have a hell of a long ways to go before any of them match it. Don't know if you've ever heard of a channel on here titled woman driven, and has multiple machines. Including a challenger redeye and just recently got a gorgeous ACR to add to her collection of badass rides. She's also got a really sweet ZL1 Camaro and built 5.0 as well as GT-R and has a really good channel. The most impressive thing though is, she does most of her own work and is a better mechanic than most guys. My only complaint with gen V was that the SRT model didn’t come with a back up camera. Other then that it’s a damn good car to me. All the other models got the back up camera
The old Viper is actually mid engine. Putting the engine in the back, I don't see how it could keep the same iconic look without looking backwards. If they decide to do one, they need to give it a different snake name!
Street presence is second to none in any year Viper. Straight line acceleation is impressive and yes there are faster cars out there BUT the Viper was never made to dominate the 1/4 mile. It HAS and still does dominate the race track!!
I can see why you would think this as it is kind of a wild card. I feel like it's always been the dodges version of the corvette. Either way very sad to see them go.

Watch dodge come out with a new viper that has a hellcat setup but beefier. Its a lighter car and that's all dodge needs to be elite. Then Ford will have to go back to the old drawing board lol. Great video reviews. I enjoy them all! 🇺🇸
Viper has been my dream car as a child but I can’t drive a manual so guess it’s hellcat red eye for me but still can’t complain. I will never forget late early in the morning about 3am I seen some chick driving a ACR viper. Nobody else was around and I was statstruck. I was like damn there goes my bucket list car lol. I didn’t wanna be a creeper and follow but it’d def be for the car and not the woman driving. It’s one of those things you forget about everything else in the world when you see one.
if you dont want the attention this not the car for you i have a 14 red stryker gts with Laguna interior!fun car to drive the gears a very tall i can hit 60 in first gear!!i put a arrow pcm in mine love it!the 355s still slides around alot!no traction at all
I really don’t know why some people who drive a viper say the pedals are weird. I never drove a viper and bought a Gen 5 and drove it and it wasn’t no big difference to me then any other manual car. And for a car that’s at least 4 years older then a lot of your zl1 , vettes ,Hellcats etc it still smokes the stock majority of them.

If your buying used there usaully a lil less price range on a rt is 5k or 4k less and scat pack hits the 43k mark
