- I was kind of surprised to see the State of Universal in...such a state. Even less busy than Disneyland has been! Still a great day though, and a great time. Tried some new food, found some new track at Fast and Furious, and FINALLY got our chance to go on the Simpsons Ride!

Thanks for the video! Nice meeting you at Mel’s that day. My family from San Jose was there for three days and Tues and Wed was great! The crowd was low. It started to get more busy on Thursday. We haven’t been for over 20 years so we were riding all the rides and reminiscing on what used to be there. Wait times varied during the day. My son loved Super Mario land and the app. Will be back soon!
It looks like how I remember Disneyland in the 90s
Hi, the things attached under the track of the new coaster are electric motors and they have tires mounted to their shaft, closer and perpendicular to the track (not installed yet). The motors turn the tires which in turn push/roll the trains through the track. This system is commonly used for moving trains at slow speeds typically at loading/unloading/maintenance stations and to push it into the main track where the lift chain, or in this case the launch motors take over the train.
Secret life of pets is an AMAZING dark ride. I love that ride!

We saw you at Universal Studios that day! So fun! I’d recommend the food at Toadstool Cafe, we enjoyed it. Regarding the new locker system in Hogsmead, they use ticket barcodes instead of fingerprints to scan, which went faster (accept you must be sure to take your ticket, or phone, with you on the ride to re-open the locker). The new free lockers were much more narrow than the old ones though, and we had a hard time fitting our stuff in there. Other than the hassle of the lockers, it was a fun day!
The track installed is just to keep the train moving quickly, it's not a launch and it's not brakes. And you are right, it is the return into the station.
And no, not Early 2025. They have already said sometime in 26.

I have lived through two major financial collapses. It is not always evident as to what happens in the board room. Disneyland has the concern of all financial reporters even Calpers. Great enterprises do die and I hate to say it but the Disney Company is on the ropes not by market but very poor capital allocation.

FreshBaked. David, In the early day's of the Universal Tram Tour a favorite ruse was to set up some light's and filming gear plus 2 or 3 trucks. Then as we drove past the tram guide would tell us all some filming was going on today. But in actual fact no filming was going on at all. Just to add some excitment to the backlot when you were'nt doing a tour of a "Star's Dressingroom" ( pay $1.50 extra for that thrill). Or 2 miniture set's, put a coin into a slot press button to watch it rain or snow. By 2p.m. it was time to get the bus back to Disneyland. Cheers, Chris Perry.
28:00 the taco truck is the best and the pizza isn’t too bad. Normally we grab a beer in Simpson land too.
We were just at Universal. It was a nice day. Secret Life of Pets queue and ride was adorable.
We were at universal on the 6th and my siblings got to go on forbidden journey 3 times in a row at a 15 minute wait!
I went to USH this past Sunday and it was the most packed Sunday in a while. Summer crowds are now going to arrive and should be a busy two months for the park from now on.
I would LOVE some HHN coverage! I love watching the construction and seeing the easter eggs leading up to the event

I think demand as far as entertainment goes is down right now. Will it go up in a month? Possibly. Hard to tell.🤷🏻♂️

Do you do these reports on weekdays or weekends? Normally I only can go to either USH or DL+DCA on weekends and it always gets me excited seeing your reports and every time we go the wait times are off the charts..
Speaking of Halloween Horror Nights, I was yelling through the screen, “Don’t do it!” when you walked onto the Simpson’s Ride. Like watching a horror film 😂. That ride is my nightmare.

Universal did announce a house for Hollywood’s horror nights. It was a dual announcement with Orlando. The first house announced for Hollywood is A Quiet Place

Universal focused too heavily on bringing in gimicky power bands, when they should have instead focused on giving the land another attraction along side Mario Kart.
I don’t think the power bands play a role in the fact that they don’t have the space for another attraction there.

The wristbands don’t work very well, I highly recommend the Scopolamine Patch. I can’t usually do the screen rides but with the patch I was able to ride all of them at Universal.
Less busy means less people which equals better for me!. Cant wait to go on a random tuessay in september
I went this Saturday 6/8 and the park was slammed. Also the cylinders under the track are the generators for the drive tires to bring the trains back into the station. Also the coaster is supposed to open in 2026
Motion sickness i use ginger capsules. They tried it on Mythbusters and it really works.

Secret Life of Pets is a hidden gem by Universal. Surprised it wasn't announced for Orlando yet. Except for the cramped ride vehicles.
It's a top tier dark ride no doubt.
Honestly this might be a hot take but I wish Secret Life of Pets was added instead of minions blast that ride is ummmm a ride that exists…..
Not been since maybe 1989; unrecognizable except for the Tram and Bates. Still have the VHS tape of the Star Trek movie experience where we were a couple of Klingons (and our acting was atrocious).
Going to Universal Hollywood for the first time in September (Oddly enough I've been to Universal Orlando despite living in NorCall). and I really hope that I'll be able to eat Toadstool Cafe. We'll see what happens but I really hope I can eat there...

Hey Dave I Love The Channel And It's My First Time Commenting On One Of These Videos To Awnser The Question At The End I Think It's A Bit Of Both I Think They Are Both Suffering From A Lull In Crowds But I Also Think Universal Has Less Going On Right Now So People Arent As Eager To Show Up Most Of The Rides Have Been There For A Little While Now So People Arent As Inclined To Visit And There Arent Any Big Shows Coming Back Or Big Park Wide Events That Are Really Changing Anything Other Than The 60th Stuff For The Trams Which Is Mostly The Photo Ops And The Return Of Earthquake So I Dont Think They Are Drawing In As Many People As Disney But Disney Is Still Having Some Of The Same Issues
David you should do a HHN video WITH Adam the Woo, Justin Scarred, PPP, and everyone else. That would be EPIC to see all the different POVs from every channel of everyone's reactions.
Those motion simulator rides are brutal. When the motion of the ride vehicle doesn't sink up with the visuals that you're seeing, your brain doesn't know what to do and you end up feeling queasy. Soarin', Flight of Passage, the Simpsons, Minions, Star Tours, etc. they all screw you up to some extent.
I'm not sure anyone could survive riding star tours for an entire day.

What day did you go on Dave? During the week? Probably get best value if you go during the week. Not at all like Disneyland where everyday is busy. Plus kids just got out for Summer. It should get more busy.
Pricing is a bit wild at both parks, had to be a factor.
Wait until schools are all out it’s not summer break for everyone will fill up
the tables are usually full and you don't see them so easy miss.
When is around the best time to travel to universal with lowest crowds
I wish I could say with certainty, but I'm still working on collecting enough experience to be able to answer that question. Right now things seem to be pretty light though!

I think The Simpsons Ride and Springfield U.S.A. at Universal Studios Hollywood should be rethemed to a land based on SpongeBob SquarePants the land will have this the Ice cream shop will be Goofy Gober's, Luigi's Pizzeria will be the Pizza place from the SpongeBob gets Fired episode, Krusty Burger will be the Krusty Krab, Lard Lad Donuts will be be The Chum Bucket, Cletus's Chicken Shack will be the Sea Chicken restaurant from the episode were SpongeBob dresses up as a chicken, but the ride will be a retheme of The Simpsons the attraction takes place in Atlantis were it turns out that Plankton wants to destroy Atlantis with his giant Robot Machine so SpongeBob and His Friends help guests to stop Plankton you enter a Atlantis military vehicle and you help SpongeBob and Friends stop Plankton from destroying Atlantis and stop him from getting the Secret formula

@@FreshBakedDisney Back in 2010-2012 I went to Disneyland/California Adventure about twice a week, so perhaps 300 times overall. I tended to show up in late afternoon or evening. I found crowd watching and investigating every nook and cranny to be the most fun. Of course 1 or 2 rides per visit, but the vibe was just so good, it was just great to be there. In 2012 I started making video calls to my friends to show them the place. Its fun to share the experience with others, as you well know :-)
I wonder how the economy, bad publicity (about crime & homelessness), politics & competition are affecting businesses like USH. I just saw a vid that noted around 30% of restaurants in Calif have closed, & that type of business (theme parks too) is sensitive to discretionary spending. Parks in Orlando also must be drawing some tourists away from SoCal, & when Epic Universe opens next year that trend will increase.
The economy is definitely an issue, but the difference between restaurants and theme parks is supply. There is no shortage of restaurants no matter where you go. They're everywhere. But there are only 3 theme parks in SoCal.

@@FreshBakedDisney I'm still stunned at news over the past year about a major shopping center in San Francisco. It was one of the highest grossing in the state (& even nation), & lockdowns, shoplifting, bad publicity about drugs, homelessness & sidewalks used as latrines, has just about shut it down. Although malls are different from theme parks, both of them share some of the same ups & downs in sales volume & potential customers or tourists.
I like that you do these. Disney is so overpriced and over crowded; I’d take universal any day
