Loved Chris and Pitts!! I love Whittier! Raised my kids there! Fell in love with Jesus there. My greatest and most fond memories are there!! Great to see uptown evolving.
I have so many memories of Chris n Pits Whittier. I remember when I was 10 and my parents would get the childs platter and I always complained the weren't enough french fries. I remember the sawdust on the floor. So sad I can't visit one last time before its gone.
Glad I found your channel! It broke my heart seeing that whole area around Chris and Pitts gated off recently. I never ate at C&Ps but I went to that Winchell's with my father a lot during my elementary school years.
Was remembering the great bbq beans from Chris and Pitts and am on the hunt for a recipe. Found your site and videos of the Whittier location. It looks just like the one my dad used to take us to in Lakewood. We didn't have much money so going there was a big treat for all of us. Always brought home an extra order of beans. Those days were tough (about 60 years ago) just as the tough times we're all going through now.
My family and I went to Chris & Pitts for generations. My earliest memories was of eating there as a messy 5 year old and my last memory was visiting back in 2012. It's a damn shame to hear it's gone, but at least there are other places to go. Will miss the memories of my favorite BBQ in Cali!
I'll miss Chris 'n Pitts. I used to go to the Monterey Park Chris 'n Pitts before I moved to Whittier. My favorites were the 1/2 chicken or the small prime rib. The salad was always fresh. The BBQ beans were delicious. The staff were so kind and friendly. 😢
Great memories and excellent service at Chris & Pitts. I will always remember that location with family and friends. Dude, I miss uptown so much. Can't wait to move back!
I live in Whittier for 35 years and I am really gonna miss Chris n Pitts , My family would always go to the one in Anahiem odd the 5 freeway and Euclid , sadly it also closed years ago, so I guess now its Downey or Bellflower
I grew up just down the street on Norwalk and Choissier St. I grew up in West Whittier from 1957 to 1970. For REAL bbq is was Chris and Pitts. The beef ribs, beans, toast, and salad were the best. I was passing by the other day and saw that it was gone. My heart broke. But Rubi’s is still there. I remember back in the 60’s when the Taco Bell was still there across from King Cole market. They had the “Bell Burger” for .27 cents. It was the best. And who remembers the Thrifty’s coffee shop next to Thrifty’s at the Whittier quad. Along with J.C.Penny and Food Giant, woolworths, and Cy’s hardware. Wow, what a time.
Born and raised in Whittier (Mar Vista/Ocean View area). My parents used to take me to this place and my dad ate there during his Whittier High years. RIP C&Ps
Loved the ribs! Shopped at the stores there as a child and ate Winchell donuts. I lived in the four winds apts too. And worked at the preschool next tp the dairy😊 Santa fe kid co 👀👏💞
I lived there a few years in the mid to late 90s when I was attending college. Even then I could see the old Whittier fading away, and I wasn't even familiar with the town till I moved there. It was a good town but there was some gang activity and I remember Santa Fe Springs was always in the news because of crime.
Great channel man. Its like a legit show with great insight. Keep it local and great. I recommend talking to Whittier College or having a discussion with a Dean. It was a huge piece of Whittier's history--Nixon went there. I think people know if it, but don't understand its signicance.
Used to go to that Chris and Pitt's a lot. I grew up in Santa Fe Springs. Wasn't it called the Chopped Texas. Used to be some ungodly price. I wanna say like 3.99. It was mostly leftovers from the kitchen.
Sign of the times, really. I haven't been to most of the places I love in Whittier since before the pandemic and after the pandemic I keep losing my job. It is not easy to get my side-hustle going.
Noooo Love Chris n Pits I still use their bbq sauce boy I better go stock up on that.. In high school that was our spot.. 5$ rib lunch HUGE Ribs!! You got.. 2 ribs Baked beans Salad your choice Bread Beverage Desert YES!!! The Best!!! ✌️🇺🇸😔💦
Don’t do it don’t dye anything. I had a boss that dyed his hair. I don’t know what he used but whatever it was he used too much of it. It started running down his face and the back of his shirt. He looked kind of like Alice cooper 😂
"Embracing" change?? Screw change!! Change in So Cal sucks. All the good restaurants are gone and all we are left with are schitt chain places that suck.
Awesome video my friend. Its what I remember from Whittier the enthusiasm and positive vibe from Whittier people. So wish i could go to Madres Brunch. I promise I will when I get back to Whittier. After I drop by and say hello to you of course!

Good old Cat Patch behind it!
That was a WILD place. I saw a lot of fights that spilled out of the bar. I used to work at P.I.H. back in the ‘70s.

Tweedy Blvd in South Gate, not Lynwood/
I pulled it from the c&p website.

Not surprised the quality has gone down horribly.
