“You don’t even work while you’re at work so shut up.” 😅😂🤣
Says the guy who sits in a chair and talks.
Yep, that "so shut up!" never gets old 😂🤣😁

I love that Dave always promotes good tipping. He understands you save money by not overspending on yourself, not by being cheap towards other people.
People should be getting a living wage. Tipping should be an insult to the owners
It’s become so ingrained in the culture that regardless of how much owners pay employees, people will tip. Tipping culture is weird and unnecessary.
I’m 21 years old and have Baby Step 3 Completed, making $47,000 a year. Pausing my Baby Step 4 to cash flow my wedding next year! So happy I found Dave at such a young age!
K C Nice work. I’m 18 and it’s helped me a lot. Recently finished baby step 4. Currently making $60k before tax and saving a big portion of it, it’s hard but just think of all that *Compound* Interest👏🏼👏🏼
K C what’s ur career that u make $47K at 21?
j00 !!!!😨😨 how r u 18 making that much a year?!😮 I’m 18 and only a sophomore in undergrad.

“You don’t even work while you’re at work so shut up.” OMG Dave is gold!! I’m a big tipper since I was once a waitress
I guess Dave is right, I am angry. I am angry because I provide service, but there are no tips and I make less than waitresses. I have worked in warehouses, hard labor, zero tips. I don't see why I should tip when nobody tips me even though I make even less.
When I got out of debt, I took my mother and myself on a cruise to Alaska about 4 months ago. I took an Uber from the hotel to the port and when we got there the driver took out our luggage and I proceeded to hand him a $50 bill. He was so happy that he gave me and my mom a hug. For all I know I could of just fed him/his family for the day.
Fantastic.
$50 is a week of groceries for me!
That's so cool. I hope you had an amazing holiday :)
Most people have an iceberg lifestyle. You see big things but in reality they are mostly underwater. People sacrifice financial independence for perception.
iceberg lifestyle... I like that phrase
Well put! That's at least a double metaphor. I learned a new phrase today!
I know my ex wife does.
Dodge a bullet there.
Live on less than you make!! Absolutely agree! I’m rolling on baby step 2! Payed off my second credit card this month!! Uploading my journey thanks to Dave! Total money Makeover! 👍🏽.
Raul J. Gomez you go! 👍
Way to go! Keep at it man!
I get disappointed when I look at my saving up rate. 😕
ero mei ah man I know the feeling. My emergency fund of 1k is only growing at 1.4% so I just keep telling myself that I’ll be investing heavy after in debt free.
Keep going man. You can do it
I binge watch these rants when I need to hear em. Thank you for making these timeless gems Dave
Dave, I’ve become addicted to your channel since I found you a month ago 🤘
Craig’s Cuts meee tooooo
Me too, however it’s hard to think of living a frugal life to finally enjoy wealth until 60 - 65 + years old.

Jesus didn't say anything complicated in his famous Sermon on the Mount and yet those who follow his advice experience profound benefits in their life.
I’m so happy to have Dave’s teachings in my life now. At 49 making 100k+ a year and living paycheck to paycheck.... just a shame. Giving my money to whatever whim struck me at the moment. Now my wife is entering into 100+ salary range and with our combined income we have a huge shovel. Found financial peace University just in time. I have been on the Ramsey plan 2 weeks and will have 4 credit debts paid next month! In 6 months will be super close to baby step 3!!!!!! My wife and I now TALK about money.... just not on what to buy next. We talk about the future and are becoming excited to live like no one else. Dave’s revelations have not only changed the course of our financial lives, but also have re-strengthened an already wonderful marriage which was headed towards the rocks because of money! Many thanks Dave Ramsey. Many thanks.
Dave tells it like it is , all good and easy points to understand. Spend less than what you make , Get out of debt , live on a budget , all basic and simple steps !
The bluntness is refreshing actually. Haha!
❄️s beware. This is not a safe space. 😂 You can’t handle the truth.
Your never too old to learn and make changes.
Well said, Any.
Stay blessed.
"if you don't believe me, get on Twitter...I think that's where all the hateful people live now"
😂
I agree. People on Twitter are awful.
twits live on twitter
If your budget is too tight for tipping...don't eat there!
Or just give 10% instead of the inflation of 20 then 25% etc
your budget IS too tight BECAUSE you eat out.
I always eat out without tipping so 🤷🏼♀️
ZOZ MOH You might get more than you ordered if they recognize you.
aprilracine what you mean?
It's difficult to change when you were not trained with a good work ethic growing up... Lately I'm watching lots of your videos every day to gain insight and inspiration! Thanks so much!
Difficult but not impossible.
Stay strong and stay blessed.
Because of Dave I avoided purchasing a boat with money my wife and I didn't have. After going through my finances last month I found I was $169,000 in debt. Most of them being student loans ($140,000). Now we are on a budget and we're chunking away at it. I expect to pay off $60,000 this year and hopefully be debt free in 3 years. I was stupid thinking I could add more to the balance without consequence. I believe that because of the advice given on this channel I will be able to become a better, more responsible husband to create a better life for my wife and I. Dave, if you're reading this... thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Yeah well excercise isn't that complicated either and we don't do enough of it !
Once you make things a habit. That's when it finally becomes *easy*
If Dave got anymore real this would be a 3D video.

Thanks, you legit made my day XD
This is the best comment I've read in a while, haha
G J WELL SAID
Crazy, Dave stuff is pretty much Common Sense for me, is America this stupid on money? “The Greatest Country in Earth” didn’t have Common Sense, I can’t believe it, why?
There are different stages and seasons of life that you need different levels of sophistication in money advice. But if you never master the basics like Dave teaches than you will never be ready to master more detailed money management. There is no easy way. I’ve tried “easy” and it didn’t work and now circling back to good old Dave principles to dig us out of our “easy” money hole of debt. Thanks Dave! 🙂
-Amanda- The Step Counter
It was easy for me.
Figured it all out in grade school.
Basically common sense and math.
Other than paying off my 30 year mortgage in 9 years I've never had debt.
BlackWorldTraveler congratulations on your life choices. Dave’s point and my point are not in conflict with yours. It is elementary. Very very basic. It’s just that most people make bad decisions when facing an unforeseen financial obstacle, even if they made good decisions when things were going according to plan. It’s not because they haven’t figured out what they should do but because they get panicked when life goes off plan. Sounds like that isn’t you so that’s awesome for you. 🙂
I sold my sports car after listening to Dave.
Ha! Me too. Emergency fund is larger now :)
Laaaammmmeeee
What kind of sports car did you have?

So true about being generous including with tipping. Be good people!
Every time i listen to him is like he is talking directly to me and i feel ashamed about my finances
Me too. It's an "if the shoe fits" walk to the wood shed.
Dave gives such simple advice, but we too often forget to live by it. If you get your debt, income & lifestyle under control, then we can talk about that new car and vacation, but let's check our wallet first
I wish I would've found Dave Ramsey a long time ago. Definitely before I got a credit card.
If I don't care how I serve someone and I make good tips I'll always serve that way. Generous tipping for bad service is equivalent to a participation trophy! A good tip does reflect the service.
Ck McKay I agree with that one
That's a model of the middle class
* people after college with student debts
* they buy a house by taking out a mortgage ("mort"=death like in mortuary)
* they buy a new car - car loan
And then all of them pretend responsible and stable adults 😂
I agree. You love your neighbor. Dont mean you have to live with them. Just love your neighbor
"I don't like absolute truth"
"I, I get it but you're just stupid!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i always leave a tip , i would be embarrassed not to leave a tip , because Dave is right , it would make a statement about me .
I’ll be 20 next month and you’ve really inspired me to start saving like no one else to live life later on like no one else and give the same way, too! Much love, Dave!!
The nice thing about being smart is that you can call yourself "stupid"!
Thank you for having the courage to say this. We need to hear it.
Love Dave's wisdom.when I was a little girl ,I remember my dad coming home at Christmas time from work.he was a very hard working window cleaner ,out in all weathers,I remember him telling my mum that a customer had given him a Christmas box,he meant a tip.i wonder if him saying box was something to do with the true meaning of Boxing Day,anyway he said a customer had given him a Christmas box and he was so so grateful and happy he probably had more but that's the one I've remembered and I've never forgotten it,so now I give tips when I can even to the postman even when I've barely had the money,it brings me joy,I also give to charities monthly and my son just started his first apprenticeship on minimum wage and I've discussed this with him too.i am in the uk and I've never been to USA but it appears you are tippers for a lot of things naturally than the uk we do tip but I've not seen it as much. Your ahead of us and I think that's great and I hope the uk catches up.
Our net worth is $2.8M and my wife is still working. I retired 12 years ago. But I work every-once-awhile. Worked at local small town post office for 3.5 years recently. 12 stacks of packages, 4' X 6' pallets, 7 feet high on an average day. Most of this stuff never gets used and ends up filling basements and garages, sold at garage sales never opened. All bought on credit cards. It's a disease. Thanks for your service. Oh, and also, one of the main reasons I left was my life was threatened 16 times a year--mainly because we require a signature on the back of credit cards or we hadn't delivered something that hadn't been mailed yet.
“If you don’t like that then your just whats known as wrong” 😂😂
What's backwards is the tipping system. They should just be paid a proper wage and up the food price buy a small amount to cover the cost.
"I actually could control the variable. My wife told me about it on the way home". Hilarious! Love it.
Sorry to hear about your car accident. So glad you and the other person are okay. :)
" no one gets to their destination if they don't know what their destination is! "

But I hate when servers assume 20% tip and put bare minimum service!
Tony Jhang ^ CHEAP!
Yeah. Don't like the Assume.
Then don't eat out
Cook and serve your own food then
@@dmbkersh why are we required to cover the workers paycheck when the employer doesn't pay well.
Would it not make sense to just get a better job?
He speaks the plain truth ! Honest and tells it like it is, not what you want to hear. Love dave and his wisdom. God Bless you richly for helping all of us
Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?
And how were you baptized?
Yes, Dave! Preach it, brother! You can have your own opinions, but you can’t have your own facts!
I’m really glad no one was hurt and I’m glad you just listened to Sharon and didn’t fight with her!
I love Dave Ramsey. I don't like how he calls people stupid. As a survivor of child abuse, I grew up with the nickname, "Stupid." It's just hard to relive my child everytime I hear him say that word. I actually have tears running down my face as I type this.
I'm sorry you went through that, but you can't expect the world to cater to/revolve around you. Best of luck!
Love Love you Man.
Thanks.
If you're standing at the equator and your back is to the South Pole, both Florida and Canada are "that way", the same direction. Love these videos!
Dave saying it as it is? Top man!
All the servers hated working on Sunday morning when church got out. Pastors/ministers/priests were the worst. They had appalling manners too.
A person drove in to my car the other day. I'm happy I put the money into my insurance as it is just making this no hassle at all to deal with. Without my own insurance I would have to chase the buggers and their insurance down.
Love watching Dave. Motivate me to get out of debt quick
If you don't tip well plz don't go out to eat! Because a lot of places a majority of the service incomes are there tips . YOU WOULD BE MAD TO IF YOU DON'T GET TIPPED
I rent and my landlady is offering to sell my place to me before she puts it on the market. I'm still on babystep 2. Normally I might consider buying this townhome but these videos have shown me otherwise. Thanks Dave.
Wise decision. If you are in debt, don't do it.
At least inquire about the price and possible financing options. It may be a really good deal or terms you can work with to lower your monthly rent and convert it into something you are building equity with. You will most likely get a mortgage at some point, and this may be a good opportunity. I have sold rental properties to my tenants before and did agreements for deed. This solution worked well for both parties.
"Live on less than you make" I heard someone making fun of this quote. I've been living on less than I make for the past 8 years and now I have $107,000.00 :)
What else can be said ?? True words of value every dam single video ! Thank you Sir !!
Dave's the man!!!!!.listen and learn..😎
I think tipping is weird.. Especially when the waitressing jobs dont pay but a few dollars an hour to begin with.
Give your wait staff a livable wage so tipping isnt the difference between groceries or rent getting paid.
Tipping should be based on service given.. It should be a happy extra.. Not necessity
Thats the truth!
You don't even work when you're at work. LOL!!!
Do not forget risk and unexpected (inconvenient, surprise) change when making plans. Plan for the worst and hope for the best.
I don't want a huge house. I just want a nice car, a dual sport motorcycle, and a cabin in the woods. I'm a simple man. All I want is to leave a legacy for my nephews. Your channel is helping me greatly toward that. I'm 29 and had to file chapter 7 two years ago and about 6 months later fell insanely ill, wrecked my car which led to having no choice but to finance a car on a first time buyer program because if I didn't have a vehicle I would have had no ride to work which would be catastrophic because I live in BFE (with family), and then I suffered a nasty injury that ran up more doctor bills. In the last year I have brought my debts down from $27,000 to around $11,000 by getting a significant raise, working a stupid amount of overtime, driving for Lyft and doing side jobs on my days off, selling everything I own, and I have completely quit eating out. I do still plan to have my channel just for a small hobby but when I get a new item I now sell the old one first instead of collecting blades and multitools. My life has changes so significantly since I came across your channel
Woodland Tactical ....keep at it..youll be there😊...by the time your 50 like my age..youll be killing it with the way your thinking...im 50 years old..small house on 20acres of woods paid for..fishing boat pick up and car all paid for...and single..keep it real
Woodland Tactical ..... thinking about your comments you had the other day and hope you can keep your goals and praying for you you're still young enough you can make it work and learn as you go
Thanks Steve
Dave, do you give advice to people that live in other countries? I’m getting a lot out of your advice but sometimes it doesnt apply to where I live, New Zealand. For instance, we dont tip in New Zealand. Its just not done.
Then you can be the first one to start. Dave says don’t be normal. So if non tipping is normal where you live, then start tipping. It will make you a better person, it will open your heart.
Why would he bother with advice to New Zealand? Do you even know anything about the show?
I am almost always a really good tipper, usually starting at 20 percent and going from there. I’ve given a few poor servers 15% and only once have not tipped at all. Not only was he a bad waiter he actually insulted my husband, not once, but twice. My husband was the one that said absolutely no way were we tipping, but I didn’t argue, and I usually would have.
thanks
This man is the TRUTH!
How did we go from bargaining prices to being expected to pay more than asked?
I always tip, unless it’s really really horrible service. I worked as a server for a year and it’s not as easy as people make it out to be, standing for 8hrs, dealing with customers demands, back of the house and management BS then getting paid minimum, there’s a sense of helplessness when you get your peanut paycheque which barely cover your bills. Tips end up as a blessing.
1:16 I like that fight club reference right there. In Tyler we trust.
I absolutely love Dave's teachings, we are working on baby step 2.....
27 years old, got steps 1 2 and 4 done. chipping away at number 3 while waiting preparing for my wedding in the next year. other than mortgage all i got are student loans and the engagement rings/wedding bands. paying no interest and totaling about 7 grand. maxing out roth IRA and about 10% into 401k. half roth 401k and other half standard. (i dont think employers ever invest in a roth 401k but please keep me honest about that)
2:25 yes I listen to Dave Ramsey while in work lol
Keepin it all the way real
just because something is simple, doesnt mean it's easy. most of the time the simplest things are the hardest.
Very wise words. Now we all need to follow it!
I love it when he says, "The little man can't get ahead." Most of us already have heads!
Thanks... Dave . A big fan.. I'll be debt free in 2 years..
On the subject of tipping, got really good advice about tipping from the movie "Reservoir Dogs" during the restaurant scene when they are eating breakfast, Mr. Pink didn't want to tip the waitress because she didn't bring him enough coffee. Lol!!!
laughing out loud... "you're not even working when you are at work"
Strongly agreed 👍
Truth in arrogance is quickly dismissed...
Phew 1:02 hit close to home for me.
I really hate giving my money to other people.
But since I've started listening to dave, I started to cut done the number of people who get my money. Already paid off 2 credit cards.
Tipping represents the failure of America's macro industrial relations policy. Very few other countries in the world do it. Tipping follows no logic. Why do people at McDonlds and KFC not get tipped? Why does a barman get tipped? Tipping is good example of an externailty that results from a market failure, namely, price of labour (wages) being too low.
You’ll always have “payments” when you put money in bank accounts to save and pay cash for a house or a car. The bank pays you maybe 4% interest while they loan your money out at 12%. The bank still has nicer furniture than you do. See the point?
Thank you Dave
One of the ways a man can easily always have good money, especially in the US, is to never get married and never have children.
Love this guy!
Make a plan. Follow the plan. Pretty simple.
I love his interpretations of others 😂😂😂
''no one gets to their destination if they don't know what the destination is''
Super wonderful excellent top class great stuff
never understood tipping, you are getting paid for what you do lol
Kevin P not always. Many restaurants, at least in the US, do not pay even minimum wage because tips put them over the minimum-wage threshold... so therefore, people aren’t always paid for what they do. They survive on tips
I'm overseas and tipping isn't common, yet I find myself receiving a better accomodation of my requests when I re-visit places.
Servers usually don’t get paychecks. They typically get paid $2.13/hr and all of that is gone after taxes. My checks were always $0 when I served but I made good money from tips because MOST people are decent
This is simple math.
1+1=11 right?
Lol
I get 10... this is in binary, right?
Common core.
I believe it's. 3.

Always be giving, always be pro servitude. God smiles at you, and it feels so good. Victimhood is of the devil
True, but I also think we need to look at the other side of the coin. People need to make more money. Some callers, say what they do and I am like your skills and contributions are being undervalued. If your absence could dismantle or injure a business, you ask for more or take your offerings elsewhere.
Ive been following the baby steps and I'm sure I would be in a terrible position if I didn't.
You're right! You don't give very sophisticated financial advice. The Financial Advisors (CFA)s. They give the sophisticated financial advice at a price! And very few people, if any, actually realize how much it is costing them. Here is some more unsophisticated advice from "The Richest Man in Babylon". The money that you save and invest are your slaves and they work 24/7, 365 days a year, and the income that they produce are their children. So the basic, unsophisticated rule is: You NEVER eat either your slaves or your slaves' children! You want them to have grandchildren and great grandchildren!!!! Thanks for ALL your enjoyable, unsophisticated advice. I just love it! You're explaining it so that any idiot can understand it.
Tipping is BS. Is the guy working at an Amazon Warehouse trash? Or the Burger frier at McDonalds? Those guys who are not serving earning as little as the ones who do but get nothing. I NEVER TIP!
