@@subjecttochrist How would you feel if your boss cut you off every second and completely ignored what you said? I think John brings a lot of conversation to the table and Dave always has to be the one to ramble and rant on about the same thing. Plus it’s just cringe to watch as a viewer.
Sometimes there's a delay in audio. It happens more in video calls but it can still happen

Sometimes it is because someone's brain is running so fast it is hard to not to.
When I first found Dave Ramsey I was so blown away by his method of killing debt and building wealth that I was eager to share it with everyone. Parents included. Now my family has struggled with finances since I was born. Money was always a problem. I thought that once I showed them Dave our problems would be behind us….
Yeah that didn’t happen. My dad was upset that his son would try giving him financial advice. We even got into an argument when I tried looking for a car because I didn’t want to go into debt to get it. Nowadays I ignore their financial advice as listening got me 42000 dollars of debt. And I do my own thing.

It's true that Dave is talking over John, but overall, the message that people let arrogance get in the way of what works is important and right on.
I think Dave is saying do what he says and don’t question it,
I think Dave is saying listen to those who have tangible, inarguable RESULTS. When we were learning our ABCs, we didn’t question our teachers, why? They could effectively communicate with our parents, the world but we couldn’t. Simple.
I’ve never paid that close attention in other videos, but sheesh 😬 Dave really interrupted John nearly every time John opened his mouth.
My boss talks over me all the time and also feels like using the phrase “and just to add to what you said” just to repeat what I said. I was offended until I realized everyone else had the same done to them.

I’ve been trying to do the same thing. It’s hard not to take things personal. I’m starting to realize that maybe people do the same thing to everyone, and not just me. It’s hard though.
Dave needs a slice of humble pie. He mentions arrogance of others, meanwhile he refers to guy on RUclips as a goob. He continually talks over any and every co-host. Dave you’re an expert and many people look up to you. But as a Christian you need to back it down a bit, you’re not above anyone. If the guy on RUclips is a goob for teaching others, then so are you.
Even youtubers refer to themselves as 'just some person on RUclips, so do your own research" and Dave does as well. He always says do what you are going to do but you call me so I am going to give you my advice.

I do have these kind of conversations with others and it goes both ways and i love these conversations. They are the most passionate and respectful at the same time.

Are they though? They are pretty predictable... This is why impoverished people generally stay impoverished and rich people generally stay rich. A lot of our behaviors are oddly enough predictive. Even that thing Dave was saying about us making the worse situations in our lives is when we're compounded with debt and stress.

@@jennyf308 You can say it Jen, but that doesn't therefore mean it's true. You're not operating with actual facts you know about humans, you're operating with what you want to be true about them. Human beings are very predictable this is why we have facts, statistical facts that if you're impoverished you generally stay impoverished and if you're rich you generally stay rich, people aren't some super complicated creatures all the time or even most the time.
@@jennyf308 Someone breaks out of prison they either run to their home or rub to a love one. Someone cheats on their spouse they either didn't feel like they were emotionally being satisfied or the relationship wasn't satisfying them. Like, you probably will say the faucet thing again because I don't think you fundamental grasp what I'm saying, but they just aren't we wouldn't have certain statistical facts about human behaviors if they were that complicated. Everyone wants to feel super special, but most of us just aren't and nothing is wrong with that.

Whenever someone gives me advice I always ask myself “do I want their lifestyle?” If so I listen, if not I politely nod :)
On the other hand, sometimes people warn you about the mistakes they’ve made because it made them end up somewhere you don’t really want to be. They can have an unattractive outcome that you can learn from…

I did exactly what Dave Ramsey told me to do and I did it and now I am doing so much better with my finances, end of discussion.
John can barely get a word in ever. I mean Take your own advice and listen to the expert. Dr John is the expert on behavior and relationships, etc.

Sure thing. Main thing is to pick one and stick with it. His plan worked great for me, personally. You have to want it and make changes either way.
Thousand ways to skin a cat, his way is safe and guaranteed. Sure you can do it other ways, depends on your risk tolerance and how financially educated you are.

Hey Dr. Deloney, before you make a perceived negative comment about children taking relationship advice from a parent who is divorced maybe you should realize that parent may be able to offer great advice to help the child from making mistakes because the parent has been through that life lesson.

It's interesting to watch Dave in this case conversing with John. Dave doesn't really want a conversation. He's not interested in anything John has to add to the discussion. He only wants a sounding board.

I think it's because people recognize that Delta Faucets are mass produced and meant to be identical to one another of that design.
People dont like to be told that they're problems (financial, relational, health, spiritual) aren't special to them. We think "I'm not mass produced, I'm a unique individual! And that means I need my own unique solutions to my problems!"
I have an inkling our feelings and motivations are not unique, and all the guidance we need is in the Bible.

I think he is correct - it is the difference between mechanical and relational - however, both have ego attached. It is fairly easy to admit "I'm not mechanically inclined" about something that breaks on occasion rather than admit "I'm financially ignorant" about something you use in your daily life. Too many people have equated the word "ignorant" (lacking education or knowledge) with "stupid" (slow of mind or understanding).
Why is Dave so bitter towards other financial advice from other millionaires? He is not the only millionaire in the world and he has a God complex he needs to break. Every other financial advisor on RUclips is open minded but Dave thinks his advice deserves red carpet treatment. Dave you are rich from having a business not because of your own advice. Dave would be a billionaire had he listened to other advice at this point.

People may watch how to fix a faucet, then fix it, it’s more important to watch how to fix your finances then fix them. There are many paths to wealth, Dave shows you a plan that works.
The arrogance is not just about money. Teachers... Math.... English.... Etc.... Experience this daily.

While I agree with you that this is true, it appears to be a comment on a good portion of episodes when there is an passionate analogy involved. Just about everyone in the world is like this, so it is telling that so many are reflecting on others what they are themselves likely guilty of.

Maybe i am arrogant, but I seriously don’t mind winging it and screwing up once or twice… idk maybe different people handle “problems” in different ways. Guess it depends on the problem
The difference is results. You watch the video, fix the sink, and it either is fixed or isn't. With most things they are long term with ups and downs along the way. The plan will work but you gotta trust it long term. It's much easier when you do something and see instant results.

About a personal trainer. To lose weight the best thing a personal trainer can do is tell you to push away from the table. Exercise is 10%, pushing away from the table is 90% for weight loss. That's it. Google Michael Mosley 800 cal diet. I was once 215, I'm older than Dave and now I'm 160, my college day weight. Just do it Dave.
The reason why we argue about health money and relationship is because of the response time. You don’t argue with gravity because the feedback is instantly. Is about time ;)

So, is Dave a GOOB on RUclips showing people how to do things?
I think the sticking point is that career and finances are intertwined and can affect every other aspect of your life. I think for me, the natural fear is that submitting to someone else's program will mean living my life the way someone else wants and losing my freedom and individuality. I think the Rubicon that needs to be crossed is to see the program as a path toward freedom and self determination and not a ball and chain.

I think some of it is when people want to do something vs have to do something. With the faucet it is not something anyone wants to do in the first place so they follow the instructions. When it comes to health or money people are torn between what they want (shiney) and what they need.

Its called Dave Ramsey rant not Johns rant and John enjoyed the conversation.
It has to do with how fast you can test their theory. You would know really quickly if the Delta faucet guy was full of it, but you have to sacrifice month of your life to test if the behavior expert actually has a sound theory or if they are just naturally skinny and lucked into being rich.
When there's mutuple "successful/effective" results vs when "it works or it doesn't" might have something to do with it?

A lot of people want things that they aren’t willing to listen to other peoples’ advice about, despite them asking for the advice in the first place.

Disagree. Personal finance is 100% personal, no one case is the same. Factors come into play such as age, type of debt, emotional issues, etc. that personalize a financial plan for each person. May sound like blasphemy for Dave's followers, but the baby steps/Dave's advice may not work in everyone's situation. Delta faucets (inanimate objects), however, are all the same and aren't people, and have an instruction guide that you follow to fix. That's the difference.

I completely missed the point of the video because I was too busy counting the number of times Dave interrupted John. The level of rudeness is off the charts.
Better if Dave was on by himself. The co-hosts add nothing (actually they annoy me) and he talks over them.
They add nothing because Dave takes control of the conversation. Kinda hard to contribute to a one way conversation. It’s more like Dave just talking to the air than his co hosts.
Dave doesn't let anyone talk. Get in there, Deloney! Haha.
