- This is my attempt to say "thank you" to probably my greatest musical hero. What an incredible inspiration... A haunting yet comforting voice... Songwriting that feels familiar even when the music is twisting and turning in ways that only Chris Cornell could have conceived.
This acoustic version of one of my favorite Soundgarden songs has been posted as I pause on this day: May 18th, 2019 - Two years since his death. Rest in Peace, Chris Cornell.

Most people who try to cover Chris Cornell fail miserably. This was exceptionally well done!
I KNOW RIGHT!!!??? this is hands down the greatest, most soulfully done, vocally and musically accurate. And just plain badass cover of Cornells music and especially his vocal... I have heard ... I am absolutely blown away and feel so joyous to know someone out there cared enough, AND could actually fucking Sing so we'll... That they could truly do it right! I honestly am tearing up a bit... Cause Cornell was my hero, and it really sucked that all the tribute covers on here I've heard... Just couldn't come close to doing justice to his amazing voice. Chris here absolutely nailed it... Hell.. i daresay Mr.Leipe would be my personal choice to replace Cornell, were Soundgarden to decide to try and continue performing live. He's truly got the pipes and the feel and soul. And his voice even has a lot of the same tonality and character on this... Amazing

@@Kinseliplier nah, maybe it’s a better imitation of Chris, but it isn’t very expressive. The Billie Eilish cover was pretty good but I wish it was a little less obvious that he was acting out Chris Cornell.
Its one thing to hit Chris's high register and not make ears bleed, but to do it with emotional intensity and still keep your own voice, makes this cover very special. Kudos mate !
Chris was my friend since the early club days and I can promise you he would've loved this. Excellent job!

I can't listen to Temple Of The Dog anymore, or Euphoria Mourning. Just something about those songs hurt, way deep down, ya know?

Everyone talks about the voice, but the guitar arrangement was brilliant! It gave all the life a song like this would need. No need for electric guitars at all. Amazing job.

Beautiful. I got the chance to see Chris Cornell perform over 40 times since 2009 Soundgarden 3x. His voice and his lyrics just spoke to me as being so Fu*king real. Hearing him at live show especially the acoustic shows was just live changing. My heart broke the day I heard the news of his passing especially since I’ve lost two of my brothers to suicide. I felt deeply sad for his kids and wife. I have had my own struggles with depression, but my lovely wife and kids and being self aware of my issues keeps me rowing 🚣♀️ along. Keep up that great work, I don’t sing but enjoy watching your videos.

One of, if not the best cover I’ve ever heard. Very very well done. Much respect.
What I really liked is that 1. You did it with your own voice, playing to your own strengths and 2. You really worked as hard on the tone for the low notes, if not harder and I think thats a mistake people make when they overfocus on what they think are the money notes, there is some truth in the idea that 'the money is in the basement'. Actually, Chris's speaking voice is hard to place, it does sound baritone but it has these much lighter overtones, in a way, his singing voice does reflect that

This is amazing! Chris’s voice is so iconic it can’t be copied. However; you’ve mastered his style in your vocal range and it’s absolutely beautifully done! This is a goal of mine, almost like having a part of him with you.

haha probably not mandatory, but it does give the poor mic a bit of a break. It's a way to work the dynamics using mic placement as a way to temper the volume differences between the lower, quieter notes and the higher, louder notes. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!
Haha, I was messing with ya. I've been a singer for many years, it's just the way you do it reflects Chris's style a bit. I just move my head backwards for example.
I'm going to give your vocal course a view, because I could never quite hit those notes. Kinda stuck at around an A/B4 (depending on the day) and your dying cat sound video sounded very interesting. Hope to see more of you man, take care and have a good one!

Chris Cornell is probably one of the top three all time vocalists, and impossible to recreate. But by the gods, Mr. Liepe you do amazing service and honor to his work and legend. This is so beautiful. I have never heard someone so match his passion vocally. Let's play!

The entire song vocals were astonishing. But @4:06 when u sang "the blood and mud" .... That to me was the best part because Chris had that ability to go from vocally 0-60 and back down so quickly. U nailed it bro 👊🏾

Chris was the best. Growing up and getting into music I envied his voice so much, because while I can sing...my voice doesn’t sound anything like his. I just wanted to be able to hit those notes!! His solo records are brilliant, up there in my top 10.

I've watched a handful of your videos now, and even before seeing this one, I was almost certain that Chris Cornell had to be one of your vocal inspirations, just by small subtle ways you sing and certain higher register notes, and well, this easily confirmed it. And frankly, you've done more justice for him in one cover, than many people have attempted. To clarify, that is NOT an insult to anyone. Chris had a unique voice and a range that made so many jealous, and so many just can't hold a candle to. You sir did a fine job, he would be honored.

Had to listen again. Chris Cornell's music is close to my heart and i often try to learn his music by ear. The guitar stuff is beautiful, his voice inimitable, but you really put effort into picking up on his subtleties. I think you did it justice! Respect!
Man this is rare and outside the box from traditional voice training. This is awesome!! Especially when we talk about traditional voice training. Many vocal teachers would say this ruins ones voice. Of course one has to look at how to take care of voice in general anyway. This is awesome. Chris Cornell is one of the of the best voices in rock. His voice and design wasn't meant to fit tradition. A lot of traditional music vocal teachers especially classically trained would argue against this as a way to sing. Another extreme is Phil Anselmo from Pantera. Argument on proper sining or not, These guys made there mark in the rock and metal world. I really appreciate how you described how to find this vocal sound. You are the man!!
