Lauren I have watched every major guitar teacher on RUclips. I have learned something from every one. Your teaching style/method is by far the best for an older beginner. I'm 3 weeks in and have learned my chords, am playing a few songs, and have my fingers tough enough to practice a couple of hours a day. You rock!
Wow, thank you!
a person who actually replies to comments-you really do rock!!
I try my best 😃
THANK YOU LAUREN I LOVE IT
Glad you enjoy it Emily.
I love the simplified F chord you taught here -- so much easier for me than the full barre chord. You made my playing much easier with that one! Thanks a lot!
Jesse, you're welcome. Don't attempt barre chords until you know your open chords very very well.
SIMPLY THE BEST!! And the graphics are so good. I'll be buying a course shortly.
Learning very slowly as i am a slow learner. Thank you dear. ❤️ God Bless.
Lauren, that was a very nice class. I can’t believe how detailed you are and you go through each section so seamlessly. You are so easy to follow and understand. t
Thanks Tim!

You're welcome :)
Hi Lauren . Greetings from Great Britain 🇬🇧. I’m not a total beginner I have been playing for around 6 months , I can play all the Open chords not as quickly as I would like but I realise that comes with time & practice . Just wanted to say thanks very much for these great tutorials you do ! Enjoy them very much and glad I found you on RUclips 🤟🎸😉
Rock on Jak. Glad to help!
Lauren
You have a very unique style of teaching and I can see how you are setting people up with learning good habits in the way they first learn these basic open chords. It's so much easier to expand on the basics once they are learned correctly as opposed to correct someone that has learned incorrectly. I run across so many students that have learned something although technically correct most of the time it doesn't allow anyone to expand easily. An example would be I start off teaching to form an E maj & G maj using the middle ring pinky which leaves the index free. When that way is solid the I show that they ' could' do them using the index middle & ring fingers if they so desired. Now that my student knows BOTH forms I eventually move on to principals of barr chords it feels more natural because they are are used to doing the form of the chord with those three fingers already, all they need to do is slide the E maj up the neck and Barr it off with the index. It's like they learned two for the practice of one ! I've had students that have come up to me thanking me for approaching it that way. But then again I approach throwing difficult "stuff" at them just a little past what I feel they can handle then when I dial it back just a bit it's perceived to be much easier from a psychological point of view. I REALLY appreciate your unique style and I'm taking notes on how to break things down into their simplest step by step forms. Well geezwhat I'm also trying to say I really admire your teaching methods Lauren. Please Xcuse the rambling today, I'm basically a highly caffienated teenager that has a crush on his teacher * blushes 😍🎶🎶🎶 - Michael your #I fan
Rock on. Thanks for chiming in.
Great lesson, excellent teacher 👏👏👏👏

Thank you so much!
This is great. Brilliant teacher. Much appreciated. Xx
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the great explanation, you make it look easy. I will try and follow your instruction. Really enjoyed your teaching.
Awww thanks Pete. Definitely not easy. I've been playing for over 20 years now. It's muscle memory at this point. What I would suggest is working the chords in groups: C, D, G, Em, Am can be found in lots of songs together. Then work in A, D, E.
Love your explanations and demonstrations very much. Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Great demonstration of simple transitions !

Thanks Lauren, this chord transition, yes this pivoting makes sense to me now, I am working on My Sweet Lord with its new to me chords, I realised only last night that I needed something to smooth the transition, various version of the next played chord that closely matches the previous finger positions. you are the best thanks.
Fantastic. Glad the pivot point helped.

You're awesome, Lauren! Fantastic tutorial! You make it so easy to learn these basic chords and really help illustrate the transitions fluidly. This is a huge hurdle for beginners like me. Your method is clear, concise, and at a perfect pace. The diagrams and close ups are really helpful! You really know what you are doing here! I started with your earlier tutorials but this one tops the cake! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

You can do it.
This is great! I’m 60, have RA and am determined to learn. My short, stubby fingers and finger tips are getting a workout with chording but I know it’ll get easier. I haven’t touched a guitar in over 40 years and your lessons and exercises are super helpful. Thanks for sharing your talent, Lauren! ☮️
Awww, you're welcome so much! Glad you are finding the lesson helpful.

Thank you!
Hi! I've only had a few lessons on guitar, but was a trombone and voice major with minors in piano and composition. Years ago I was asked to teach an adult continuing education class on guitar for a school district. One of my goals was to produce a positive playing experience as quickly as possible to keep the students engaged. I used "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot, which was generationally relevant to the group. It's pretty much four very basic chords: Aadd9(no3), Em, G & D. I love what you're doing!
Yes, I have that song on website!
Thank you Lauren you are making it so injoyable for me I'm getting better 😊
You're so welcome!
