Third world country wearing a Gucci belt. There's no logic, it's about keeping the population stupid and poor so they're easy to control. That's why they're so against gun control, free quality education and Free healthcare.
For starters, AMERICA doesn’t want this. The majority of the country wants abortion to be legal. What it really is is conservatives being able to control us through bizarre processes (like how the supreme court is appointed) that make it so they maintain control. But I’ve also really wondered, why? Pretty much every decision like this that seems to hurt people comes back to money, but I can’t quite find how that’s the case with this. But then just days after their ruling on roe v wade was released, there was another ruling that effectively disallows the EPA (environmental protection agency) from protecting dumping in waterways. Basically they handed that right to regulation back to the states as well. Now I see where the money is in THAT, yet no one was talking about it. It seems like they came up with a very detrimental distraction.
Because the economy can’t move on or prosper without a large population. Why do you think Japan, China and South Korea will have problems in the future, the country cannot sustain themselves without people.
I am 72 years old. I graduated from high school and entered college while I was married. I got the opportunity to work for Pacific Bell TWICE, but never did. Each time a woman applied for a job at this company, she also had a pregnancy test. Both times, I was pregnant. I was devastated. The doctor said something that I never thought about. He said, "Now don't go off and do something stupid. You keep that baby." I had 9 pregnancies with the same husband. I have 7 living children. It turned out that I am RH - and I never took Rhogham. My husband was heterozygous. My last child sensitized me. I had one miscarriage and one still birth. But, I can imagine MANY women who may have sought an abortion to get that job. Plus they gave you the pregnancy test AFTER you passed the regular test. And, of course, men didn't have this physical test. Having an abortion is a very hard decision no one else can understand. Each situation is different and either way, the memory is with that person forever. These women need love and support. If it is a race thing for European women to have more babies, talk about it, the whole country will encourage it. But don't force women to do what men want and don't treat women like children who can't make an intelligent decision, no matter how hard it is.
@anhedonia keep believing those lies....it might be illegal but it's done everywhere, every day. I was told on a job interview for an Accounting position that the boss only likes burnettes in 2021. I said that is discrimination and the interviewer said yes I know but that's what my boss told me to do. I don't have the means to hire a lawyer to pursue a lawsuit. So basically it doesn't matter. That company can discriminate until someone can afford and prove that it happened. My current employer hired their first minority.....you'd think management burnt the place down.....the old white people were so upset.....the younger ones didn't even notice. So that is great that there are laws but they don't actually apply to everyone.
@@CoconutSparklez You ARE missing something. Clear your mind and read it again. It is about the issues woman have had to go through. There are many ways to assist a woman in duress in reference to a pregnancy, but this would mean assisting ALL women and some of these women are just not the right color, religion, social or moral status. So take it from there. I NEVER even thought of an abortion. It was the doctor who brought it up.
What most people don't get: this isn't just about whether you are pro or against Abortions. It's also about who gets to decide. I want to decide what is right for my body, future and surcumstances, not what others or a few people in a government dictate. If I am the one to get pregnant, I should be the one to make that choice. And the past proves, even if abortions are made illegal, they are happening anyway. They are just more dangerous and inexessible.
I understand when the person was raped but if you decide to lay with someone and it results in pregnancy, take responsibility for it. You don't want anyone deciding about what happens to your body but you can decide what to do with a baby's life? 😐
@@nillyk5671 Yes, because it needs my body to survive. Also abortion can be a responsible choice. Being anti abortion is just not a realistic stance when you break everything down.
Mina, ignore the assholes. You are a beautiful woman and your sentiments perfectly convey how I and many other women feel. I had my abortion 21 years ago. I was 17 days pregnant and it was the most crucial, important, best choice I’ve ever made in my lifetime. It was not easy. I did not take it lightly. It was painful and scary. I was on my own and afraid to talk to anyone about it. The amazing people at the clinic were such a support, and they gave me all of the information and never tried to persuade me one way or the other. I knew what I wanted and needed to do. They were kind and supportive. This was in Tennessee, and it pains me to know that girls and women in Tennessee now have no access in their entire state. They’d have to travel to Illinois or possibly North Carolina. It’s awful. I just want you to know that you matter and if you should ever be faced with an unwanted pregnancy, there are many women like me who would love and support you in any way we can.
@@nillyk5671 I took responsibility by having an abortion ASAP. I was 17 days pregnant. I cannot imagine anything more responsible than that, when faced with an unwanted pregnancy at age 22.
Loved Dirty Dancing and I remember the abortion storyline and class stratification well. It's frustrating today because I have heard too many forced-birth advocates saying, "just don't have sex." What about couples who are trying for babies and something goes wrong with the pregnancy? What about miscarriages that the body just won't clear on its own? What about just having bodily autonomy? And what happens when the Supreme Court strikes down the right to contraception (which, along with same-sex marriage, Judge Thomas indicated in his opinion should be up for 'discussion')? Which 'rights' will be revoked next?
Isn't it clear? Get married at 16 by whoever your father decided is gonna be your husband. They are fundamental radical christians, no different than the Islamic terrorists they like to talk about alot.
@@lesussie2237 Might be because the asshole benefits personally from Loving v Virginia, doesn't he. This shit is always about controlling others. Sorry about the language. That self-centered mofo gets my blood up.
These radical-reactionary conservatives believe that God/Jesus has given them the right to coerce a wayward society back onto the straight and narrow path again, in line with conservatively interpreted Biblical doctrine, consequences be damned! That's why there's no reasoning with these people. The right will not stop until it gets its way entirely, on its complete agenda. To do this, to carry out what they say is God's will, they will have to destroy our civil rights and liberties and overturn all court decisions and legislation seen as being an obstacle to their radical right agenda. 💔🇺🇸
so what if it wasn't there decision to have the little human. What is someone made that decision for her and she's left with no option. It's comments like this that think women only have kids by mistake and it's their choice to do it.
@anhedonia I promised myself to never have a child. I love children, my family always lets me take care of them. And they are the most precious little angles in the world to me. But I am looking into my future, and I know I can not give my baby what they need to have a happy life. It's the same for lots of women who decided to give up their babies, they love them too much to let them suffer from poverty, unstable life, a collapsing economy, and the list goes on. There's no right and wrong, some of us just don't think we are competent to raise a human being. I've met parents who believed things would work out, it didn't, and their child suffered for it. It's good you are not afraid and are confident to be a good parent, but we all have a different life, so please respect it. Ps. Hope you and your children have a wonderful future
@anhedonia Do you have problems with reading comprehension? "Both the man and the woman should use various forms of contraception." I never said they shouldn't. What I said is that YOU are the one assuming she doesn't when MOST people do, especially if pregnancy can KILL them. But no contraceptive is 100% effective. So, if despite taking precautions, she would get pregnant she should not have to die because of that, which by the way would ALSO kill the embryo that you are so worried about along with her. Not wanting people to die is pro-life. You are not pro-life, you are anti-choice
@anhedonia wow you really like spamming everyone’s replies with shaming abortions… did you even watch the video? “pro lifers” ironically don’t care about the mother when her life is on the line, and it’s great to say “well don’t have sex” until it happens without consent, or when someone lies about using protection
@anhedonia and it’s a clump of cells. i don’t understand why it’s much different to using antibacterial spray to kill bacteria, or killing plants to eat. they’re all living cells, a foetus is not a human yet and no one seems to care about them after they’re born into an environment which is not loving and lacks the right resources to raise a child properly
@anhedonia the life of a fetus matters, but not more than the life of the human who must sacrifice their body to bear it. Being pregnant is a sacrifice- your body is debilitated and will never be the same. No human being should be forced to go continue a pregnancy they don’t consent to.
@anhedonia a gift to whom, the screaming mother in pain or the unloved child. I totally get what you’re saying many people are aware of the consequences of sex, but just because they are aware doesn’t mean that they have control over the sex. Many women aren’t really in a position to safely say “no”. blaming only women completely ignores that it takes two to have sex. People are leaving men unaccountable. If women are now forced to give the birth, then the men whose child it is should be forced, by law to financially support the child, even if they aren’t married.
@anhedonia First of all, it's sapient, not sentient. Look up the definitions. Second, a fetus is not sapient as they don't posses consciousness. They're not even sentient (Sentience is the ability to have feelings.). And church (Yes, I am Christian) can't do much. most churches struggle to fund themselves never mind someone's child. it would be great if the government took care of people who have children, but the sad fact is, they don't. It can take weeks to months, while a woman's children are starving I might add, to qualify for food stamps. And quality of life is ABSOLUTELY a factor. If you don't think it is then you have grown up very financially stable. Not to mention abusive households. Would you seriously force a child to live in that situation? If you would then you need your moral compass checked.
I just cried so much as the gravity of the overturn finally set in. I have a uterus and I'm transmasc, and I truly feel like I almost have no more say in my own body.
You are valid and I hope that you'll be okay. I don't think I'll find the right words to comfort you, technically I am just a stranger. But I am sure this isn't the end and it'll be alright.
@anhedonia it's not a human life yet, no more than a sperm cell or an egg. I hope you're using every one of your viable sex cells and not participating in baby massacre
♥️ Everything. Abortion is the main event of the story it’s weaved through this phenomenal classic summer romance via Penny and the circumstances of Penny’s unwanted pregnancy and the discovery of Penny’s abortion due to Baby telling her Dad (a doctor) which results in ending “Baby’s” Francis perceived innocence by everybody. And how her father views her. Francis matures from a pampered “Baby” to a young sexual women over that summer her eyes are opened. To the reality’s of life, class, lies, deception and ultimately finding love.
@anhedonia I see from your other remarks that you are just an incendiary troll. However, to this specific comment: women need abortions and it has nothing to do with your views of their sexual proclivity. Pregnancy is a result of sexual activity, but forcing someone to endure pregnancy as a form of religious moral punishment is unnecessary and cruel. Sometimes a pregnancy will go awry and result in a fetal malformation or partial miscarriage and requires outside intervention in the form of abortion care to remove the remains from the woman before she becomes septic and dies. Sometimes the sexual activity was unwanted. And sometimes, the sexual activity resulted in a pregnancy that cannot be endured - for whatever reason. And that is the main crux of why privacy rights between a woman and her doctor should be upheld. random stranger on the streets may have a variety of opinions on whatever the pregnant woman chooses to do, but that random stranger should not get to interfere in the woman's right to medical care.
@anhedonia Actually, it's about the story of two consenting adults who had sex, and then an irresponsible Yale-educated man who refused to help take care of the resulting child, forcing the woman to get an abortion if she wanted to survive and not be destitute.
youtube creator studio should have simple tools that allow you to make minor edits, like blurring things in the background or adding subtext in the video so that you edit the video without having to delete, re-upload and lose all your previous views.
When i performed Grease in HS, in the late 90s, the director changed the "virginity pin" into a bowling pin. Rizzo also didn't almost get pregnant either - completely changes the entire dynamic
I remember my older brother saying he had a female friend who couldn't get an abortion when they were teenagers, so she stole a bunch of pain pills from her mom and had all her guy friends beat her and punch her stomach till she miscarried...
@anhedonia but you are not aborting an actual baby, you are aborting an embryo or at most a fetus that isn't even half way to being developed enough to survive outside the parents body. After about 1 month an embryo is the size of a grain of rice. It's literally just a bundle of cells. Why are you putting the existence of rice grain sized bundle of cells over the bodily autonomy, health and even life of a woman/teenager/child?
@anhedonia if parents don’t want to care for a child they can put them up for adoption. Plenty of dads and some mums just walk out every day and it’s not illegal at all. The government does not literally force people to give resources to their children, there are plenty of ways out
Love the inclusive language such as “all childbearing people” as well as the focus on bipoc struggles that are often dismissed or not addressed at all with this issue. Well done
This was excellent, Dr. Bainbridge. I really appreciated how you were able to engage in some of the serious details, while connecting it to such a well-known and loved piece of movie-making. Showing us the shortcomings of the film, shortcomings because of the white washed world of these Catskills resorts, also helped underscore so many of the important points you made about inequality in health care. Thank you. I hope people will share this video with the Dirty Dancing fans in their lives.
@anhedonia No, the video very clearly discusses the true victims- living, breathing women who are having their rights stripped away from them, even though it doesn't name the religious lunatics imposing their religious views on us specifically.
My question to the government that doesn't allow abortion. Do they want to increase more abortion deaths from back alley doctors? If anything the quack doctor business will thrive. Why not provide legal procedures that prevents more deaths from abortion?
Because they don’t care if women die and they don’t care if that kills more foetuses. Literally all they want is control. Control of people’s bodies given to them freely by religions fools who don’t realise that their bodies are next on the agenda
Shout out to the other Mount Holyoke students watching this. Baby is going to MHC in the fall and named after Francis Perkins (first female member of a presidential cabinet). As MHC students we watch this movie every fall at orientation. It is really magical and the story is really important and still relevant. GO BABY!
Ty for this. When my much wanted baby died in utero at 17 weeks and my body held onto the pregnancy for whatever reason, an abortion (also called a D&C) was the only treatment. Without it I would have died & my child who was 3 at the time would have lost her mother. Abortion is healthcare and whoever needs it should have easy access. I wish people would stop repeating the fiction that women use abortion as contraception. It’s absurd, no one does that. Also contraception should be free and easily accessible.
Stupid argument. Nobody wants to take away your ability to get rid of a dead baby's body inside you. An abortion is where you kill a LIVING baby inside you. BIG difference.
i’ve seen this movie numerous times and the more i think about it though, if it wasn’t for baby befriending billy in the first place she wouldn’t have gotten to know penny and help her with the situation, she also wouldn’t have filled in to dance with johnny and eventually fall in love with him..
I am alive because mother chickened out of back alley abortion. And alive. And alive. And alive. When will this hell end? At 76, new people bought the apartment building I have lived in for 19 years. They have caused me to have an emotional stroke, a heart attack and heart surgery. Not to mention the anxiety, depression and fear. My life has been a 'living' hell since I was born. It never stops. Everyone else in my family got to die...but not me. I will go when God takes me and Heaven better be all it is promised to be. (I am white, disabled and poor...so can't move to another apartment.)
I feel the exact same way, my life has been an endless nightmare, my mother had an abortion and then had me out of religious guilt to make up for the aborted one. She didn't really want a child and was awful to me and told me every day I ruined her life. I don't understand why people who have something to live for get to die but I have to keep living. I don't want to hurt my Dad but after he's gone nothing will hold me back, then I'll do it myself.
There has been a thing even when abortion was illegal is many that had a miscarriage in poverty were arrested for murder of a baby they were trying to have any how.
@anhedonia the outcome of a miscarriage and an abortion are identical, so it can be hard to tell. someone could very easily be accused of getting an illegal abortion when they had a miscarriage. whether a state prosecutes the carrier or providers of illegal abortions, it won’t be the same from state to state.
Here in Malaysia, baby dumping is normal, especially a few years ago. It even become sort of pandemic, just tons of babies casually stuffed into trash bag, leave in public bathroom, randomly found in holy places in hope of anyone adopting is, or straight up just yeet it out of building. This is what happen if abortion is illegal.
I was Elementary when I first watched this movie. And I never thought, gee this looks like something we should go back to. This movie birthed my liberal thoughts!!
I didn't think I'd like this channel as much after its rebranding but I was so so wrong.. this is excellent! And I'm quite pleased to see Danielle still makes an appearance.
I think it’s hypocritical for someone to have the right listed in the amendments only to take away rights from other people. For the people who don’t want abortion to be legal, just don’t have an abortion. It doesn’t affect you and no one is forcing you to have an abortion. I don’t understand why you should take someone else’s rights away just because it goes against YOUR morals.
I think it’s hypocritical for someone to have the right listed in the amendments only to take away rights from other people. For the people who don’t want rape to be legal, just don’t have an rape. It doesn’t affect you and no one is forcing you to rape. I don’t understand why you should take someone else’s rights away just because it goes against YOUR morals.
I think it’s hypocritical for someone to have the right listed in the amendments only to take away rights from other people. For the people who don’t want women’s education to be legal, just don’t give them education. It doesn’t affect you and the all women in this world can make babies that you don’t care about nor consider at risk for being put under the poverty line due to financial struggles the mother might face. I don’t understand why you should take someone else’s rights away just because you don’t care about their current situation. Not everyone is born in a privileged world, not everyone will have the money to care for a child nor even the health to do so. Complications can kill the mother, that’s just another life you’re taking.
It is an argument that pro choicers make. But the anti choice crowd don't see it that way. As far as anti choicers are concerned, if you don't want to get pregnant you shouldnt have sex, if you have safe sex you are still taking on the risk of pregnancy. And since you took that risk you should be willing to "pay for the consequences" and not expect the state support your bad judgement call. In the end, this is all about punishing women for having sex.
@anhedonia So women choose to be victims of sexual assault, incest and pregnancy that threatens the lives of both mother and child in your reality? I thought this reality was messed up...
@anhedonia I would say the same to you, my original post states "any state criminalizing *all* abortions" without exceptions. In any case, my post was not concerning the moral questions, but the legal ramifications.
Just thinking like a lawyer - if a woman is the victim of sexual assault and it is illegal to terminate, there is no option but to give birth. If she cannot afford the costs of pegnancy and childbirth there's no alternative - she can't NOT give birth - the state could be sued for costs. Then it's just down to a standard fairness doctrine of non-descrimination and no special cases; any state where no abortions are allowed even in cases of rape, incest or mortal peril of the mother is a state where that state may end up paying for all births and prenatal care once the lawyers figure this out.
@anhedonia So much of what you wrote here is just wrong. I'll just point out a few. 1. Rape and incest are not "rare". Reported cases are rare. The actual crimes are not. 2. A fetus is not a person with constitutional rights - you cannot claim a gestating child as a dependent on your taxes. If a mother is pregnant for most of 2021 and the baby is born in January of 2022, she doesn't get to claim that child as a dependent for 2021, despite the fact that it was totally dependent on her for its survival for 3/4 of that year. 3. What everyone seems to ignore is that overturning Roe did something absolutely insane - it gave the fetus a right no one else has - to use the body of another person without their express consent. In the US, you cannot force anyone to donate organs or blood or body parts to save someone else. And you can only use the organs of a dead person if they were an authorized organ donor before they died. But somehow a fetus can use the body of a woman until it is naturally evicted. Finally, a significant majority of women who get abortions are already mothers, with children they are struggling to support. Are you telling them to ignore their living children in favor of the fetus? Is she now simply an incubator? Forget the children who are already here - something that most anti-choice advocates have already done and will continue to do. This is not a pro-life movement, it's a forced-birth movement. You might want to reconsider who you are aligning yourself with.
No one has the right to command somebody to do something they don't want, even if it is the right thing to do. (freewill) A big part of parenting is support, love, empathy, comprehension, and discipline. Understandably, the government of The US does not want to pay for an abortion. Still, instead of being judgmental, it should be more severe on social interaction and environmental issues to improve people's mental health and self-esteem. And invest in parenting education at home and school, especially primary school; this automatically will reduce levels of abortions, instead of allowing this current toxic lifestyle promoted by all these trends in social media justified by the misuse of freedom of speech. Our surroundings influence our life, as does what we hear and see daily. Thank you for the opportunity
"The unborn" are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike orphans, they don't need money, education, or childcare; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It's almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.
Thank you! A great video and important message i honestly forgot abortion as as a kid or teenage didn't think about it when watching it. And now of course i can not NOt think about it almost 24-7
I was born in 1984 so o probably should have seen this movie by now, but it’s never been my type of movie in a whole lot of way, but you better believe I’m giving it a watch now. I’m interested.
I think I would've been a lot more interested in watching this movie when it came out if my friends had understood its context. "Trust me, you'll love it! Just go see it!" is not a compelling recommendation, imo. Not then, not now. I'm glad Canada is stepping up to help, but I know it's not nearly enough.
@anhedonia my personal belief is that they become a human when they are able to survive outside of the womb. And no, cells doing what they are programmed to do, multiplying, doesn't indicate anything. A daisy doesn't have a desire to live, much less an early stage fetus. Even the animals you pay to be killed have more of a desire to live and be happy. By your metric a sperm cell has the desire to live and be happy
@anhedonia most reputable scientist actually don't agree that that's when life begins. (Sperm cells are alive) We can for sure say that an early embryo doesn't have a pursuit for happiness or a desire to live, as it is just a simple clump of cells that is incabable of having any thoughts, desires, wants or fears, it's biologically impossible. It's like a skin cell (that fyi can be grown into a human with modern medicine). A daisy doesn't have a pursuit for life nor for reproduction, it's just what has been programmed to happen. There is nobody there to pursue it, nobody to wish for anything. A person who went into a vegetative state did become a human at some point, but when they die they are not a person anymore. Just like an embryo isn't a person as it lacks all organs needed to survive, most importantly a brain, it hasn't become a person yet. I'm not claiming I know where exactly the line can be drawn in all of the issues, but we can distinguish undeniably that an embryo isn't a person yet and that a 1 yo is a person. The best guess or a compromise for the line is around week 20 where we can say it's maybe not just a clump of cells anymore. You say we don't call spermicide murder, but I have religious friends who do believe that contraception is preventing children from being born that should and wants to be born. And no, we don't call abortion of an embryo murder, as it is equivalent to calling scratching your poor little skin cells murder. You calling it murder in my eyes puts you in the same extremist group with my religious friends who oppose contraception. You know that a third of pregnancies end in miscarriages and usually it happens at such an early state that the woman doesn't even realize she is pregnant. If you believe in god, what on earth do you think the purpose of those embryos' "life" is, and would your god even think it is bad to let those clumps of cell die? I don't think any culture has funerals for them, as it is silly for anyone who doesn't share your exact belief. Why force birth on people based on beliefs they don't share? Would you happily accept a ban on all contraceptions based on someone elses belief?
@anhedonia that's easy, to be considered human/person a fetus needs to capable of surviving outside of it's parent. I hope that clears it up for you! :)
I’m curious why this was public, then made private (apparently mere moments before I tried to watch) but at least it’s public again. I’m assuming it’s be edited in some way…
@@Caterfree10 thank you. A simple explanation that makes sense 😉 I see the explanation is now a pinned comment so others will see it as well (no insult intended, but who reads the text descriptions of videos?)
I’m sad that they did not include AAPI women in the statistic. :( They also did not include Trans people, who will also be be affected by the overturning of Roe v. Wade
Trans-radicals are making their cause toxic to everyone else because they want to force their ideology onto everyone they can affect. They want to change the language and how people interact with them as if they are little babies with fragile egos that need to be catered to. Roe vs Wade is a woman-centric issue and that needs to be addressed first before turning to those who only identify as a woman but not biologically. Sorry, women needs to take care of their own issues first. We're not going to cave for the trans-movement at this time when our very own rights are threatened.
The geographical divide b/w pro and anti-abortionists clearly shows that the US is split right in the middle. Tenacity of religious beliefs in south and central US also reflects present-day political divide b/w republicans and democrats...
@anhedonia sure, call it murder, but you can’t consider yourself a good person for outlawing it altogether. a person can think abortion is morally bad and still not advocate for it becoming illegal, and here’s why: while the minority, there will always be cases of people whose lives are endangered by a pregnancy, and making abortion illegal will result in deaths. also, making abortion doesn’t address *why* they happen. if we don’t attack the source, how can we say we’re solving the problem? making abortions illegal will only increase illegal and unsafe abortions. we need to educate people and make contraceptives more accessible. there is a lot of misconceptions about how pregnancy happens that are still floating around, there are schools that think telling horny teens “abstinence only” is enough(even though many will be more influenced by their personal beliefs and peer pressure, rather than a teacher as to whether they will choose to have sex), rather than explaining pregnancy and how to use contraceptives properly. how can we say people need to hold responsibility for their own actions when our education system is as garbage as it is? not only that, but can you say you are good if you tell someone with an issue that it is their problem to deal with and not offer any help? many people affected by abortions becoming illegal will be poor. give more money and support(daycares, baby products, etc) and that will also reduce abortion. rich people will continue to have abortions!!! they may say that they’re anti-abortion, but they only say that to be viewed positively by certain groups of people. they don’t care about morality, they kick the poor while they’re down and want you to vote in their favor. CONCLUSION(for if you want to skip the paragraphs above): I think it is drastic an unsympathetic to make abortions illegal with the state of the country as it is now. healthcare is abysmal, as well as the education system. If you want to help people and unborn babies, you have to offer help, rather than seeking to punish those you deem as bad. maybe there’s a future for countrywide banning of abortion, but it is too soon and it will be too hurtful to do so now.
It not only stems from religious beliefs but also as a way to punish and oppress people with reproductive systems by forcing them to carry and give birth. Democrats and Republicans actually have more in common, both are the same except democrats like to pretend they're progressive whilst actively not doing anything against laws that oppress and harm minorities groups.
@anhedonia and your argument is incredibly flawed as you seem to argue that they must carry it, ignoring the fact that people with reproductive systems are also human and therefore should decide whether or not to carry it to term.
@anhedonia I actually did by pointing out how you'll ignore the living for a clump of cells that has yet to be developed in a whole human being. If you're gonna bring morality into the argument then this is gonna go on forever, cause you aren't as moral you'd like to think. To you I lack morals because I care about people losing their right to bodily autonomy, and being forced to carry regardless of whether they can afford it. You aren't as moral or "good" as you may think you are, advocating for the "baby's rights" whilst actively ignoring how dehumanizing it is for a person to be forced to carry an unwanted child cause the government banned abortion. Abortion is health care and people deserve the right to bodily autonomy but of course to you, I'm the one that "lacks morals". If you're gonna type out the same bs, don't bother. Just refer to my previous replies on any of your "points", it's all been addressed.
It might seem unimportant, but I appreciate leaving out the little Tv’s face - the winking used to be so annoying (from my perspective) that I wanted to stop watching this series
Abortion needs to be legal and available. Do we want it to happen less? Yes, of course: then let’s work on free contraception, early sexual education in school, let’s fight violence on women and let’s support families in need and single women who may want to keep the child.
I think at some point, everyone who pro choice needs to come together and have an agreement on what that means. And then we have to determine, what is the most likely to pass into law. I am pro choice but to a certain extent. I believe an abortion is fine in the first trimester, and thereafter only fine in cases of rape, incest, and life endangerment. I can get a lot of conservatives to agree with me up to that point as well. But looking at late term abortions for whoever, that I think gets more complicated to pass across the board. We could spend a lot more money funding with volunteer dollars, woman who can’t afford an abortion, as well as contraceptive care/family planning, if we stopped having to fund a whole bunch of fighting against the other side.
Late term abortions only really happen for medical reasons, wherein the foetus is unlikely to survive or will cause harm to the birth parent. But I see what you’re saying! Might just be easier to try to compromise so at least we get somewhere
I feel this isn’t black and white as much as a socioeconomic thing. The more one group of people get out poverty the sooner we can stop obsessing about color.
My grandma flew from Detroit to New York and back on the same day to get a safe abortion in the 60s. If she hadn't shed have been having haler drunk husbands baby, and she would've been stuck with him forever
I am very disappointed in the comment that included "this is only white women's stories". It wasn't needed and actually feels forced. EVERY piece of fictional media does not need to represent EVERY race on this planet. I've never watched an all black cast movie and thought, "You know what the problem is, it's only black people's stories". Stop forcing, it's cringe.
Gotta love how the cis producers of this thought it was a cute light hearted point at the end to include trans people 😂 no problem with what Danielle said just how producers framed it, conveniently let us forget this isn't just a cis women's issue the entire time then we're like oh yeah and trans ppl *cute lil boop*
This is kind of a stretch for its connection to abortion. There are lots of other films like this, not just dirty dancing. Other films played a part in showing this issue too. And they keep talking about pre-Roe. pre-Roe. pre-Roe. What about pre-abortion period? There was also a time before abortion was a thing. And it precedes the Roe vs Wade issue. Maybe it's time that we stop acting so casual about intimate activities between people. Take responsibility about possibilities of creating a life through one's actions.
As someone who is staunchly Pro-Life, I still believe abortion is not something that can be effectively legislated. There are too many nuances to consider: was effective birth control available; did the woman have any allergies or medications she had to take that made the contraceptive less effective or negate her ability to use it in the first place; did the man even consider HIS part and take precautions on his end,or leave matters completely up to the woman? And these are just the tip of the ice berg. What happens if the pregnancy becomes untenable? Either the child is dead or dying in the womb, or the woman’s health is steadily declining due to the pregnancy? What if nature tragically results in a miscarriage that does not completely expel the fetus? While ending a life of no other reason than the desire not to continue the pregnancy is not an outcome I would want, rendering a procedure illegal that in so many cases would prove life-preserving is unacceptable. What we all need to remind ourselves is this; overturning Roe V. Wade does NOT equate the federal government outlawing abortion, but rather takes the decision out of the Federal courts and releases the decision to the individual states. Petition you local governments and work up the chain to state senators and Governors. Rather than pushing women into a dangerous corner, consider other outlets such as counseling and accessibility to a wide array of contraceptives. Encourage the male population to step up and take their part. If a young woman finds herself pregnant and chooses not to terminate, have community resources that will offer support without stigmatizing, and open avenues for adoption that are beneficial to all involved. Life in and of itself is precious, and I will forever strive to encourage my friends considering abortion to think and reflect seriously on why they want to terminate; but at the end of the day the choice is theirs. They will still be my friend, and if they face complications - be it emotional or physical - from the procedure, I can wholeheartedly assure them open arms and a heart that holds no judgment.
This is why we need to make a more equitable society overall - aid to the poor, parental work leave, and access to education/vocational training. Abortion is not the answer to these issues. I will not be responding to comments
Technically, more post birth services to compensate women for essentially being forced to take care of a baby that wasn't planned(about 50% of the U.S.) would help balance out the injustice of overturning R v. W. HOWEVER, that's not likely to happen... so it'll continue to be a great injustice! P.s. your response isn't needed. My comment is nearly rhetorical anyway. 😏
Yes, so pro-lifers saying they care about babies should make laws that cover childbirth, family leave, early pediatric care, and funding for stuff like daycares, there should also be more funding for schools. Instead they want to force people to carry babies they don't want to term (or until it kills the carrier) and then don't care what happens after that. Even in a world were the government helps pregnant people and helps the baby through its first few years at life, some abortions would still be needed, such as for if someone is raped, if its discovered the baby is missing vital organs and will die the moment its born, for people who can get pregnant but can't safely bring a pregnancy to term, or if the pregnant person gets sick but is not allowed to start treatment while pregnant.
Too bad the people who are banning abortions are also opposed to all those things. Abortion is a perfectly good solution to many problems: including a rape pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy, people who need cancer treatment, people who can’t carry a pregnancy to term safely, people who have miscarried but not delivered the miscarry fetus, and people who don’t want to be pregnant at that time in their lives.
I was talking with a friend who is pro- abortion and she is vegetarian, she was mad at me for eating so much eggs because it was a living being who was cut the opportunity of existing and how it was like a murder. So I asked her " what about fetus tho? They are fertilized eggs making them more living being than these eggs" she said " it's not the same" and went on a rant to explain to be how it's not the same. We just don't valorize life enough
So I don't know about your friend, but vegetarians usually eat eggs just fine. Vegans never do. Now, the reason why vegans don't eat eggs is not because the eggs would become cute little baby chicken. Commercially sold eggs aren't even fertilized. It's because of the way egg-laying hens in commercial farms are raised and kept as egg machines without being properly cared for. So when you think about it, it makes total sense to be against eating eggs as well as being pro-choice; it all comes down to the hens as well as the pregnant women having autonomy over their own lives and bodies.
@@radurte I don't understand vegan and vegetarian I'm just saying what my friend said, but I'm lost with your comment, how is eggs being kept in bad condition have to do with being pro- abortion, because let's be real everyone is pro-choice the word is misleading to make pro-life look like dictators, it's about pro-life vs pro-abortion in the end of the day everyone does what they want legally or illegally. But can you explain the correlation between lack of good conditionnement of chicken fetus and the fact that human fetus should not bee seen as living being. I'm genuinely curious
im ex vegan and thats ridiculous, most vegans refused to eat eggs because the inhumane condition the chickens keep in. And abortion is the right way, if you want a child that much, adopt.
Okay I get it all this abortion in the movie but the Dirty Dancing appropriated salsa in the movie it’s a question of cultural appropriation did Dirty Dancing cultural appropriate Latin American tradition dance move?! I remember watching this movie as a child since I was a kid with my mother of course we watch the movie but I never understood the character was having an abortion I know there is a reason why women want to have abortions because they don’t feel ready to have a responsibility to be a mother Dirty Dancing The majority of casting members due to The reference in the movieIt’s majority cast was White all the casting for White that we’re dancing salsa and each dance moves from another culture and you never saw people in other races practising these dances that comes from another culture like salsa or other dance moves I cannot remember there were other dance but I think it was on the southside they were doing in Dirty Dancing why wasn’t there any Latino cast and the abortion in the movie did it concern only a white woman’s problem because the majority of the cast were white?!
As a Latina I can say with confidence that I and all my Latin friends and family have never thought to be insulted by non Latin people dancing salsa. There is a difference between appropriating and appreciating. Most people view salsa as a fun and sexy dance, so if they want to enjoy it but aren't Latin, what's the problem? It's not like they're bashing on salsa and saying it's a stupid dance from a stupid culture. Just be glad that most Latinos don't get offended by "appropriation" of our culture, because then we could argue that avocados and chocolate should belong and be eaten only by us since they originated in Mexico.
@@adw5111Okay if you say if you see that they are appreciating your culture So people that have Latin America origin in the culture for you watching this movie it’s appreciating and what about the inclusion it doesn’t matter to you?! For example I have an AfricanOrigin and if someone that is not from my Heritage that practice the dance move from my background I probably will feel offended if they don’t include people from my origin and my rootsSometimes you have people when they will use someone’s culture to make it all about them this is why it’s important to acknowledge peoples culture They can appreciate they just need to acknowledgeAnd they need to give some credit to peoples culture
You didn't see people from other races learning these dances in Dirty Dancing because it is a period piece set in the Catskills in the sixties. Resorts like the one in the film really existed, and they basically catered to rich white people. The class divide between the guests and the staff is the main thrust of the story. Just because Penny is white doesn't mean abortion has only ever been a problem for white women- if that's the message you got from this film I suggest you watch it again, more carefully this time.
@@kareytanner Oh okay I don’t need to watch the movie now I rememberIn the movie Dirty Dancing baby and Jonny they came from two different world separate apart because of the difference baby she came from wealth so she is privilege and Jonny he came from a non-wealthy privilege life so he was the poorest White guy since she fell in love with himShe didn’t care what he was if he wasn’t in her level but the problem is I remember I just saw two black couples dancing but they were not the main character in the movie it was just some scene with two black couples dancing I don’t know if they were a couple but there wasn’t enough explanation in the Dirty Dancing movie I couldn’t say that the movie Did not want to have any inclusion to other races of people it was just the story of the movie no one could imagine a baby had to fall in love with someone that came from Latin America who was Hispanic that comes from Argentina or from Brazil or Puerto Rico whatever country I love interest would’ve been if it wasn’t White or it could be that I love interest would have been someone that has Latin American roots That has Latino origin
@@kareytanner and I also want to say that the movie just ended so quick I didn’t feel like there was enough storyline to know everything about the characters they just fall in love Jonny just taught her Jonny was just the dance teacher in the beginning and they fell in love and he taught her how to the Dances a lot of chemistry That was at the end of the movie they lived happily ever after just like a fairytale similar OG movie to Greece lightning
Talking on rape... there is still legalized forced (consent of age) child marriage. It is a state to state thing rather than federal law on such. There is some odd laws on the books over contraceptives being illegal at one point or ignored to other laws too. Guess we will have to see what happens in the democratic republic of the US next.
“Instant gratification” moment? The fact that you believe you have the right to judge the "quality" of any circumstance leading to pregnancy tells me a lot more about you than about anyone else. OddZero already discussed forced marriage and obstacles to accessing contraceptives (but forgot to mention that beside localized regulation-based obstacles, there is a significant poverty barrier there as well, related both to access and education). 81 percent of American women reported experiencing sexual assault in their lifetime. Every two out of three rapes go unreported (in the case of sexual assault on children, only 12 - read that again - 12 percent is reported), which means that as a reason for abortion sexual assault is horrifically under-reported. Please keep in mind that even the numbers I quoted are based on people who were willing to admit to being assaulted; not everyone is. There is also the factor that culturally, our society is messed up enough to have convinced women (and men and everyone else) that some forms of rape are actually not rape, such as marital rape, passed-out rape, rape when clear "no" was not stated, rape without a physical fight, rape without physical violence, etc. The number you're looking for is insignificant because it's inaccurate. Grossly. As for that incessant bible-thumping rape vs you play - you pay nonsense, get a grip. It's not your place to judge. Ever. Your judgement can only apply to you because not everyone else has to share your values. We don't have an obligation to live our lives the way you'd like us to. If you need guidance on that, I advise you to consult the bible. It has some things to say on the topic of tolerance and acceptance, unless you're an old testament hate-monger. Moreover, it's naive to believe that anyone, and I do mean anyone, has repeated "instant gratification moments" that lead to pregnancy and just have an abortion because it's so easy. It's not. It's a taxing decision that's undertaken by people who see it as the best solution in their given situation. It's hard to access for a large number of people, it's costly (in terms of actual price, travel, time off, etc.), it's stigmatized by people who think it's a "lifestyle choice", and it takes a psychological toll. Nonetheless, 5 years after, 95 percent of people who had an abortion say it was the right choice for them - that should tell you that's it's a decision not taken easily or thoughtlessly. As someone who's currently watching women dying needlessly in a neighboring state that introduced such ridiculous abortion laws doctors don't even perform medically-indicated abortions where the fetuses are dead or dying because they fear being sent to prison, I have little tolerance for your suggestion that abortion can ever be split into those resulting from rape vs. those caused by “instant gratification” moments. As if the latter was even a thing, and if it were - as if the two were the only possible reasons for needing an abortion. And it's always a need. It's good you're not too far gone to understand that rape victims/survivors should not be forced into a resulting pregnancy but it also means you're woefully under-informed or a well-intentioned bigot. Either one needs fixing.
@@anniikka there will always be people that have more knowledge or education on certain subjects than I do. I’m ok with that. It is why I asked the question about rape statistics (because that is how you get a conversation started). What I’m not ok with is being called names or put down because you don’t agree or are triggered by something that I said. As to your information listed, I don’t disagree that many things are not reported and you do make a good point about some laws being in place (or lack of law) because I was born and raised in a state where law of consent is 18, and I don’t know more than 2 people over thousands that I have encountered throughout my decades on this earth to have abided by that law. On the flip side, I have to question (with a lot of empathy and patience) who is telling the truth nowadays. That is the worst thing to be wrong about and yet when money gets involved; I have seen people change who they are, what the believe, and what they say to get what they want. This is not an easy topic but one that should be discussed. I would love to keep communicating as long as you can refrain from the unnecessary name calling that doesn’t suit my character. Thanks
@@kmwilkerson04 I understand your point but, in my decades of existence, I have encountered way too many people of gentle tone and demeanor with the same attitude of judgement, especially when it comes to trusting women, and I developed very low tolerance as a result. And I do admit I did call you out in less than respectful terms. On the point of whose accounts are or are not truthful, I have to disagree. There is no benefit to reporting assault, to police or anyone else. In litigation, victims/survivors are seldom successful, both in criminal and civil court, and the idea of financial benefit is a mirage. It's like saying cancer just disappears every time because your ______ (insert person) was diagnosed with cancer and it just disappeared on its own. Does it happen? Yes. Is it true for the majority of victims/survivors? Sigh. In reporting assault, men subjected to it usually report even less frequently than women, yet their veracity does not get questioned as often (though their masculinity does, go figure). The simple truth of the matter is that we, as civilians, have no way of establishing whether anyone is or is not lying and we shouldn't be trying to because it's simply not possible. Generally, the only course of action is waiting for a verdict of the justice system, but I've discussed how well that works. That is why victims of more prominent offenders turn to the court of public opinion, and sometimes get shut up by being paid off without any admission of guilt by the offender. They accept not because they're greedy but because it's the only form of justice they will ever get. Why does america wants millions of poor babies they wont even support through education and medical care? Someone please answer me.
You already know the answer to this question 🙋🏽♀️
@Ndeye Delgado this.
You keep that baby."
I had 9 pregnancies with the same husband.
Should already be illegal to make women take pregnancy tests for a job. Should but this disgusting world doesn't work that way
@anhedonia keep believing those lies....it might be illegal but it's done everywhere, every day.
So sorry for what you went through. Incredible what women have had to endure because men are so controlling. Sorry for your losses. 💖
@anhedonia We have come a long way. My experience was in the 70s in Los Angeles, CA.
They are just more dangerous and inexessible.
surcumstances is circumstances
Inexessible is inaccessible

Interesting how Judge Thomas didn't mention Loving v Virginia which was ruled based on the same foundations as Roe v Wade

@anhedonia Do you have ANY idea how many unwanted kids are in the foster care system? How about you do some research before spouting nonsense?

We really heard from people standing where you were. Thank you for speaking out, and I’m sorry.
@anhedonia your comment is disgusting and unnecessary
She didn't say she doesn't use birth control. Birth control can fail even when used perfectly. By the way, empathy is a nice thing to have
@anhedonia Do you have problems with reading comprehension? "Both the man and the woman should use various forms of contraception." I never said they shouldn't. What I said is that YOU are the one assuming she doesn't when MOST people do, especially if pregnancy can KILL them. But no contraceptive is 100% effective. So, if despite taking precautions, she would get pregnant she should not have to die because of that, which by the way would ALSO kill the embryo that you are so worried about along with her. Not wanting people to die is pro-life. You are not pro-life, you are anti-choice
@anhedonia sex isn’t always for the purpose of reproduction tho?? You can’t forbid anyone to not have sex for their own pleasure??
The abortion plot is central to Baby’s disillusionment with her world. It also shows what a genuine and non-judgmental character she is.
I think about this line all the time, "He was supposed to be a real doctor. He had a dirty knife and a folding table."
“The entire plot is driven by abortion.” That’s true and I hadn’t ever considered it.
Right? I knew but I didn't realize that without Penny's need for an abortion, the plot does, indeed, fall apart... wow.
$250 in 1963 would be about $2,300 today. Just a fyi. 🤔
@anhedonia wow are rally have nothing to do of you go over leaving mindless comments
@anhedonia so you want women to die? Okay got it. 👌🏼
@anhedonia Actually, it's about the story of two consenting adults who had sex, and then an irresponsible Yale-educated man who refused to help take care of the resulting child, forcing the woman to get an abortion if she wanted to survive and not be destitute.
@anhedonia ...right because "degenerate" men can be easily detected using the patented Degen Detect Device, coming to stores on February 30th 2023!
youtube creator studio should have simple tools that allow you to make minor edits, like blurring things in the background or adding subtext in the video so that you edit the video without having to delete, re-upload and lose all your previous views.
I think it does already
When i performed Grease in HS, in the late 90s, the director changed the "virginity pin" into a bowling pin. Rizzo also didn't almost get pregnant either - completely changes the entire dynamic
I remember my older brother saying he had a female friend who couldn't get an abortion when they were teenagers, so she stole a bunch of pain pills from her mom and had all her guy friends beat her and punch her stomach till she miscarried...
Did that friend survive?
I had a friend that had her boyfriend punch her in the stomach to end the pregnancy.
it's not 'sort-of' a human rights issue.... it's a human rights issue, full stop.
A human being has more rights than a parasite that starts out as a clump of cells. I don't think it's a difficult concept to understand.
@anhedonia in order for it to be a baby it has to be born
@anhedonia but you are not aborting an actual baby, you are aborting an embryo or at most a fetus that isn't even half way to being developed enough to survive outside the parents body. After about 1 month an embryo is the size of a grain of rice. It's literally just a bundle of cells. Why are you putting the existence of rice grain sized bundle of cells over the bodily autonomy, health and even life of a woman/teenager/child?
@anhedonia no human has the right to use another person’s body against their consent. So why do foetuses get a right that no other human does?
The kind of people who support banning abortion don’t care if women die.
Human rights issue period! It just so happens certain groups will be affected the most
please remember that this is not only affecting cis-women.
Trans & Non-binary & intersex people are also HEAVILY affected by this.
Yes!! It’s so fucking sad and awful.
This!
Disabled people as well. Let's not forget about them.
@anhedonia Trans men, trans men need safe access to abortion.
intersex people can still be cis…. intersex is a chromosomal mutation
I'm sorry this is happening to you. God bless you. Where there's life there is hope. Do not give up.
At 29, I feel the same. Once my father is gone, so am I. Life is hell.
As a 5th grader when this movie came out. It was the first time I had a conversation about abortion regarding Penny. Very profound.
@anhedonia and where r u getting your info from
@anhedonia common sense to you based on your fillings and Christian morals which not everyone shares and not based on facts.
This happens very often, sadly, in certain Latin American countries like El Salvador, where poor indigenous women are persecuted in this way.
Thanks for sticking with us ♥
beautifully presented - the issues were presented with understanding of class and financial ability - go team
@anhedonia 🍅you’re a clown
Wouldn't there be an argument that any state criminalizing all abortions would be on the hook for any and all costs of every birth in that state?
Great video.
Not a fan of the film, but great highlight on the abortion issue.
We did this as a film study at school. Looking back now, wow, ballsy to make this a film study for 17 year olds!
Honestly, they should have reruns of this movie all over America NOW
Edit: because of the abortion storyline obviously.
Like, who wants that back..
@anhedonia then lets get rid of guns since the government can say what to do, lets get rid of the second amendment
Wow I completely forgot about this part of the movie!!! Neat insight from the writer Elenor
@anhedonia lol “ you shouldn’t watch anything that defies your views of offer new perspectives “ you sound crazy
I have seen this movie only once, but because of PBS highlighting this cool factoid, I think I'll watch it at least 10 more times.
Love With A Proper Stranger deals with the issue of illegal abortions too.
Thank you! A great video and important message
i honestly forgot abortion as as a kid or teenage didn't think about it when watching it. And now of course i can not NOt think about it almost 24-7
@anhedonia and you should think about millions of men who can't put a condom on%))
09:25 i like how she mentioned childbearing people because women aren't the only one having kids. beautiful representation
Here is Indian movie named Notebook (2006) with same concept
I can finally watch this video. It was blocked for a whole hour.😊👍
I was born in 1984 so o probably should have seen this movie by now, but it’s never been my type of movie in a whole lot of way, but you better believe I’m giving it a watch now. I’m interested.
I probably would've never watched it if not for girlfriends. 😅
@@JenSell1626 lol 😆
Wow, I haven't seen Dirty Dancing since I was a child, and I had no idea the plot was surrounding abortion.
The US has slowly become Gilead....
the only issue was this movie and others like it, made me want the "bad boy" type
But he really wasn't the bad boy, imo he's just surviving
I think I would've been a lot more interested in watching this movie when it came out if my friends had understood its context.
"Trust me, you'll love it! Just go see it!" is not a compelling recommendation, imo. Not then, not now.
I'm glad Canada is stepping up to help, but I know it's not nearly enough.
“It’s not just women it’s childbearing people” …😐
you realize 8 year olds can sometimes get pregnant right? it's not just women, it's also literal children
That statement is all inclusive. Girls, trans men, and non binary people are child bearing people
@@SweetCammieEyes1 …ok buddy
Great, timely video. Thank you for making this.
@anhedonia true victims a.k.a. 4 cells that don't experience pain nor have a want to live or even a pursuit for happiness
(Sperm cells are alive)
We can for sure say that an early embryo doesn't have a pursuit for happiness or a desire to live, as it is just a simple clump of cells that is incabable of having any thoughts, desires, wants or fears, it's biologically impossible.
Well, DUH!! If you watched the film, a whole lot of it was the reasons why abortion should be legal. DUUUHHMMIES!!!!
Forced birth advocates donate their organs to people dye ing on waitlists challenge
the one thing ill say is that is atrosious is the fact the this 80s film is set in the 60s but looks like its from the mid 80s
Now let's look at Grease.
Well...Dirty Dancing sounds like a metaphor for the thing that could lead to the need for...yea, yknow.

It's a movie . It's a movie . Every film and tv show has a rating either it be rated r or pg13 or pg or g
The geographical divide b/w pro and anti-abortionists clearly shows that the US is split right in the middle. Tenacity of religious beliefs in south and central US also reflects present-day political divide b/w republicans and democrats...
@anhedonia sure, call it murder, but you can’t consider yourself a good person for outlawing it altogether. a person can think abortion is morally bad and still not advocate for it becoming illegal, and here’s why:
while the minority, there will always be cases of people whose lives are endangered by a pregnancy, and making abortion illegal will result in deaths.
also, making abortion doesn’t address *why* they happen. if we don’t attack the source, how can we say we’re solving the problem? making abortions illegal will only increase illegal and unsafe abortions. we need to educate people and make contraceptives more accessible. there is a lot of misconceptions about how pregnancy happens that are still floating around, there are schools that think telling horny teens “abstinence only” is enough(even though many will be more influenced by their personal beliefs and peer pressure, rather than a teacher as to whether they will choose to have sex), rather than explaining pregnancy and how to use contraceptives properly. how can we say people need to hold responsibility for their own actions when our education system is as garbage as it is? not only that, but can you say you are good if you tell someone with an issue that it is their problem to deal with and not offer any help? many people affected by abortions becoming illegal will be poor. give more money and support(daycares, baby products, etc) and that will also reduce abortion.
rich people will continue to have abortions!!! they may say that they’re anti-abortion, but they only say that to be viewed positively by certain groups of people. they don’t care about morality, they kick the poor while they’re down and want you to vote in their favor.
CONCLUSION(for if you want to skip the paragraphs above):
I think it is drastic an unsympathetic to make abortions illegal with the state of the country as it is now. healthcare is abysmal, as well as the education system.
@anhedonia the baby is very much part of the mother's body as it lives off her and cannot sustain itself outside of her.
What do you mean "what"?
Reupload?
It might seem unimportant, but I appreciate leaving out the little Tv’s face - the winking used to be so annoying (from my perspective) that I wanted to stop watching this series
Abortion needs to be legal and available. Do we want it to happen less? Yes, of course: then let’s work on free contraception, early sexual education in school, let’s fight violence on women and let’s support families in need and single women who may want to keep the child.
Pro-choice here, but looking at the graph abortion deaths were already plummeting before the 2 abortion rights milestone dates occurred.

!

Kinda reminds me of the George Carlin joke on Nimby.

What are the statistics on how many people get abortions based on rape vs. living on a “instant gratification” moment?
Talking on rape... there is still legalized forced (consent of age) child marriage. It is a state to state thing rather than federal law on such.
There is some odd laws on the books over contraceptives being illegal at one point or ignored to other laws too.
Guess we will have to see what happens in the democratic republic of the US next.
Bad Joke: ask the catholic church or Warren Jeffs...?
