    I still crack up watching this. Peter Cushing was a true gent and legend, you can see he genuinely loved doing this.

    Not only was Peter Cushing a great actor, he also had great comedic timing. Thanks very much for posting this.

    Cushing is obviously having a wonderful time, barely able to suppress an almost school-boyish delight! He always remembered his experiences with Eric and Ern with such pleasure...

      First time I've seen evidence that he did that hyperventilating from excitement thing IRL instead of in character as Helsing, Frankenstein, Winston Smith, etc.

    Cushing made cameo appearances in later M&W shows, always asking for his cheque as he hadn't been paid.

    Holy Crap! Christopher Lee really does make tall people look short! I knew Peter Cushing was tall, but I didn't think that tall. Wow! This is awesome! RIP Peter Cushing!

      I too, knew he was tall and with Christopher Lee even taller, Eric and Ernie would have looked like school kids next to Pete and Christopher

    It's funny that Peter Cushing played King Arthur in this sketch. Star Wars, which Cushing played Grand Moff Tarkin was influenced by the Legend of King Arthur.

    @wingrok there is a little story worth knowing. He was the oldest, most famous, person to write in to "Jim'll Fix It". His wish was to have a hybrid rose made to honour the memory of his late wife, whom he adored. He, in old, gallant, fashion kissed Jimmy Saville's hand in gratitude. Not only a van Helsing, he was a gentleman.

    It does take a special understanding of domestic British slapstick and banter, in order to appreciate this level of almost child like humor.

    Not sure how tall Peter Cushing was but Morecambe was actually only about 174cm... Ernie's height always made him look tall ..

    • @hcu4359
      @hcu4359 8 месяцев назад +1

      Cushing's height was usually listed as 182 cm (5 feet 11 and a half inches). He was a very thin, wiry man with kind of "wary" body language, but willing to work with people who were much taller than he was, including Christopher Lee, David Prowse, Vincent Prince, Jack Palance, and the wrestler Kiwi Kingston. I think the tall costars, the body language, and the lack of bulk made him seem smaller to the average viewer than he perhaps would have in person.

    God is it really 44 years ago?! Still fresh & brilliantly funny.
    ' You can't see the join..' That's because it was glued together with Eric's genius -ably assisted by Ernie.
    '''Are you going to Whitstable dressed like that?! Exit the great Peter Cushing.

    Strange. I never thought of Peter Cushing as tall - maybe because we was so often pictured next to Christopher Lee.

    • @amysands8925
      @amysands8925 2 года назад

      In his youth he was he was just a little shorter than Christopher Lee. 6 ft.

    • @hcu4359
      @hcu4359 Год назад

      Yeah, his slim, wiry build and the fact that he made two movies with David "Vader" Prowse, one with wrestler Kiwi Kingston (Evil of Frankenstein) and twenty-ish with Christopher Lee make him seem shorter than he actually was. If you needed someone who came up to the shoulder of a Really Big Guy, instead of coming up to the Big Guy's sternum or navel, Cushing was your man.

    Tarkin was a horror Icon, young one. Check the old British Hammer Films and youll see why Lawrece Olivier called him the best movie actror on the world.
    An that's why Vader tried to choke him to death.

      It was probably a reference to Imperial margarine, which had an advert were people eating the stuff would suddenly have a crown on their head. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_margarine
