Thank you, Emmet, and the Jazz guys from Emmet's living room... ...From Spike Sousa, artist, Old Naples Florida...you guys are the best in the Jazz Zone...
Love LOVE this trip down amnesia lane back to one of the earlier LIVE at Emmet's - you can feel the joy between Emmet, Russel, Kyle as they play their super version of "Darn That Dream" - back in the days when EC operated the show from his laptop on the Steinway!
Depends, I have two. Surprisingly NYC area you can find deals because so many have been sold there, home town manufacturer, of course, there in Queens. But other places as well, estate sales probably are a good place or just Craigslist. I'd say with about 8-10K cash you can find something decent. In my case, I bought some used but relatively new hammers for my L and improved it 1000 percent, and I fount those for about $300 on ebay. If you find one with good sustain, indicating a good sound board, they can always be improved, to even new condition if you've got the time and patience and will. Ahmad Jamal himself found one with a split sound board and he and the owner of the Pershing lounge worked together to give that old Steiny an new life and the rest is history (Live at the Pershing, But not for Me, etc);. Ahmad told me that himself, and shared with me more than once his total dependence on the Steinway. He had two Ds probably the last twenty years of his life, probably supplied by Steinway, and sometimes he had no piano at all.
It's so enjoyable to watch the trio work together. It's magic !
Wonderful reinterpretation of Ahmad Jahmal's version! Cheers!

Back in the days ...
That's not even just an arrangement. That's downright choreography!
Love Emmet Cohen and that menorah on the piano too!

The re-invention of a masterpiece. Kudos maximos from Switzerland.

Is this an old recording or is Russel bringing back the hat?????? :D
