I have the same "mini rig" too. L brachet + handle. And I confirm that it gives more comfort while shooting videos or taking pictures and a bit of protection for the camera. But I don't understand those who make reviews of heavy rigs with handles, various brackets, bars and many other useless pieces for a mirrorless. I see a lot of people that when they pull out their mirrorless from the backpack it seems like they have to shoot a movie in Hollywood ... This is a small and light mirrorless so weighing it down too much with useless pieces of iron doesn't make it become an Alexa ...
Nope, but it does make it heavier and as such more stable for filming, as well as more versatile - like for example by adding a DTAP battery, which can power your camera and monitor/recorder at the same time.
Hey Stephan! Thank for your review! I'm a wedding photographer who also shoots small video clips during the wedding. I think the L bracket and the handle would be a good choice for me to compensate for blurring in the video area. Do you mean that you can take pictures and videos with this setup? Or is the handle rather annoying?!
pretty sweet and simple setup for the a7iii. Pretty awesome channel too! Been looking for more channels like this. Subscribed, man! Also because I'm a Seth Rogen fan.
I keep bouncing back and forth between the original bracket grip and the hand grip. I love the hand grip but it is a pain to plug things in. I couldn’t use it when I wanted to tether and use captureone at a photo shoot. For instance.
What are you using this rig for? Many people are making "rig" videos but what are you making that requires the rig? Do you have shots you made with this rig that you couldn't with an A7III handheld? (no shots in the "review" of the rig that demonstrate the rig seems, odd?). Not hating, just don't see you showing the reason for anyone to rig their A7III.
Well. Like I said in the video. With two hands holding the camera you get a steadier movement to the camera. It lessens fatigue. Better grip with the right hand. And if you want to use a monitor and a mic you need something for mounting. The L bracket also let’s you mount the camera to a tripod for portrait photography, if that’s your thing. My example footage was from a Full day of run and fun shooting for another video. The rig made the day much more comfortable for me. And I got steadier footage than if I would have shot without it. All that being said. The reason I went with the L bracket is exactly because I think a cage is overdoing it. Unless you’re building a whole studio mattebox system or something.

Am I the only one who thought that the lady in this video was Blossom?
Hey amazing, just found that video accidentally, and boom that option with the left side grip was new to me. Just ordered it a minute ago.
Please give me an iPhone xs
IMO, your profile is too big. I have a full rig, and it takes less space, bag friendly, vlog ready, and left handed grip

I dont get it, why all these rigs are so expensive? even thou this one is pretty cheap compared to others.
Absolute love this thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Stephan. I am about to buy the Sony A7III and have been looking at rigs for this camera. I had not seen that left hand side handle before.

Great
What was the camera/used for this video?
Why not atmos v instead of small rig?
Filmed on a GH5. I bought my smallHD a long time ago. It works for me. I'm sure the Atmos is great too!
Great info, informative, thanks.
Thanks, love it.
