Excellent review comparing the 2 cages. It sucks about the missing strap insert on the left side as well as the heavier weight, but overall I like the new look and the slight redesign. I'll go with the new version.

Did you find the previous model to have a bit of slop or wiggle room when the a7iii was mounted? saw a few people have issues with it scratching up their camera etc.
What are the two holes on the front of the cage, near the bottom edge, supposed to be used for?
how is the camera wiggle in the new cage? i have the older cage and because the camera is only mounted by one screw it usually gets loose after a few hours of use and begins to wiggle inside the cage. the product advertisement says there are two tightening points: an M2.5 lock on the side (which you didn’t show) and the usual 1/4” 20 screw on the bottom. i was wondering if you noticed the m2.5 lock they speak of?
second question regarding audio: does that device that connects to the hot shoe mount record directly into camera? are you recording both from the shotgun mic and the wireless lavs directly into the camera?
It only mounts from the bottom? Doesnt attach on the side? Website says it uses M2.5 on the side...
A friend recently had a problem with his camera, because the Tripod grip made a lot of pressure with the body of the camera that ended damage. That's why I have this doubt about how a Sony A7riii camera is connected to the olive color 2020 cage, they have some video to see it? Now about the adjustment of the cage with the camera. 1. The cage connects through the thread? 2. I see in the lower photo of your cage that there are 6 holes, are for thread? and how does the subject to a tripode? 3. To hold a Gimball do pressure on the sides or is it also in one of those lower holes? 4. You could make a video showing as a guide as it connects to Tripod and Gimball, as this Union works. I want to keep the cage put on my camera all the time because I am worried that a tripode or the adjustment of Gimbal can affect and damage the base my camera as seen in the photo that happened with another camera, that's why I turn to the quality of their cages to protect it and
I ordered the Fujifilm X-T3 version
I love the look but the fact that it has less holes overall and the lack of strap anchor hole on the left side really turns me away from this cage. I’ll stick with my old style cage for now. Do you know if the Smallrig strap anchors work with the peak design straps?
yeah the missing strap anchor is a bit tricky ... but I got used to it Smallrig strap anchors do not really peak design straps
Would be nicer with built in Arca Swiss

what specific top handle do you mean ... small rig has so many ;) ... just got one from Nitze that seem to work great for the whole rig ... but doe not match the "style" of the cage as well ;)
Does the cage help protect against fall damage or is it specifically for additional attachments?
its mostly for additional attachment but also its a bit of protection as well
Does it have NATO rails on the side/top or does it only look like it because of the slanted edges?
no, it looks just like that bcuz of the news sleek design ... no NATO rails on the cage itself
Sadly new cage blocking my C1 C2 button, and if if if if add build in Arca Swiss perfect!
well it might be a bit more tricky but i do not have big issues reaching those bottons
Cage every scratch the body or does it have some rubberized section where it presses against body?
well so far no issues with that. there is a small rubberized section for the bottom of the camera (like it is on most camera tripod plates...
what's the name of that sony audio unit? Please? it looks much better than the one that attaches directly to the hot shoe
that is the Sony XLRK1M but I think its not made anymore ... you really have to look for it

Do you think with that cage equipment would be fit on zhiyun webill s? Or only the cage without that accesories
can't really say ... my a7rIII with a sony 12-24mm will be too heavy with the cage on my Ronin SC if that helps

Michael, question for you. Can you put that HDMI Clamp on the bottom to protect the "multi" cable? Doesn't seem like it goes far enough down to protect both the HDMI and Multi cable??? or would you recommend getting 2 to protect both?
yes you can put clamp on the bottom

does it block create any problem for mounting flash & flash triggers
not sure about that, depends on the size and such of the trigger ... might be a bit tight
