The Power Junkie was sent to me from Blind Spot Gear free of charge. This video and it's content was not reviewed or paid for by outside persons or manufacturers. Кино
Awesome video! Beachtek pre-amp is amazing. Bought it last year thanks to your reviews and ti's been working flawlessly!
Great video man! I love my a7iii more than any other camera I own and having the right accessories makes it the perfect tool! I have a couple more to pick up, thanks to this video!
Caleb,
I finally succumbed and bought an a7III. This list of accessories is fantastic. What a great service you're doing by sharing all your persistent and dogged research into how to make these great camera more usable and functional.
This camera will be my long battery full frame option. I gravely doubt it will match the beauty of the images and easy of use from my X-H1 and X-T3---they are fantastic and spectacular color out of the camera--something I never ever got from any Sony. They are the king and queen of APS-C, and speed booster give it an authentic FF look!!!
But I think everyone should have at least one full frame camera option in their arsenal--and the A7III looks like the best option.
thanks again.
Another nice video with something "uncommon" and useful. Always learn something from your videos!
I have the same set up as you and loving it!! A7III, Tamron 28-75, Small HD focus and the Meike Battery grip!
The world needs people like Caleb!
He just wants to help everyone out!
Thanks for recommending our Beachtek DXA-MICRO PRO in your review!
I've had the Sony MDR-7506 headphones for a few years now and highly recommend them 😀
Always love the ARRI handle 🔥
Thanks for the video!!!! I just pledged for the Power Junkie! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! Just too bad I have to wait possibly till December to get it.
wanna hear something even worse? Chinese company may steal its idea and sell similar product for less before December....
Quick tip about the Smallrig cages and Manfrotto quick release plates (for many cameras), you can screw in 2 screws in the bottom of your camera. Makes it more secure and stops it from loosening and moving around
Great one Caleb!!! Still got my eye on the A7 III
Really like the setup! Full of inspiration 👍🏻
Great guide! Thanks for sharing.
Those are my favorite headphones I love him so much I bought two pairs. Especially for $100 you really can't beat it. It's the industry standard sound monitoring headphones
Thank you for the info! Really needed it!
Title This video as Dope Camera Rig! My Mind is blown aways with this kind of rig. too good !
Thanks a lot, man, very useful video! Made my day! 😊
Let's see what's on my list of your suggestions:
- Definately pledged for the power junkie. Very versatile piece of kit.
- Tamron is on my 'to save Euro's for' list as a walk around lens for holidays.
- Azden mic may end up replacing my Rode videomic pro as I love the auto power on/off function. No risk of forgetting to switch it on or off and it doesn't use a 9V battery.
- SmallHD would be nice to have but above my budget.
Great video man I love that your changing up the background. This one was great. Have you seen the atny ATM-929 rode mic pro knock off? Oh yeah and how long until I can order my keep your friends close tee shirt?
epic suggestions. great work.
Can't wait to find out your favourite the A73 or GH5S going to be interesting.
Would love to see a review on the best SD Cards for the Sony a7iii!!👏🏾👏🏾
👌🏼 awesome vid !
Solid video. I think this camera will be the hybrid shooters top dog for a while. So most A7III Are probably not gonna end up in cages, I would think. Got mine yesterday and I have to say it is the best allrounder so far.
Awesome Work 👍
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Thank you for the great video!
I have a GH5 but I'm gonna grab a microphone or something through the links anyway. Great vid Caleb!
Long time viewer here. I love this kind of video Caleb! Quick question: as someone used to the GH4, I'm thinking of going a7iii but I have heard some confusing things about the a7iii when using an external monitor. Can you confirm what works or doesn't work?
Got a bunch of these already. :-) Good tip on the Canon adapter with built in ND. I'll keep that in mind.
Love your videos man, but dang that audio level at the end...
Great video man, but do you lose AF with that ND throttle mount?
you'll definitely loose a stop of light or more it seems...but why mention that in the video if you make money of the links
Doesn't look like there are any electronic connection so will probably only work with manual lenses. You're best bet if you want AF is to get a Sigma MC-11 and a decent variable ND that fits on the front thread.
well just like any other variable nd... but why mention when you can just blame the youtuber
There is an electronic connection. Some reports it doesn’t play well with the A73 but maybe just a bad copy. Like most adapters autofocus won’t be optimal with all lenses.
A lot of adapters haven't been working with the a7 iii
The ND Throttle Lens Adapter is a great purchase for shooting with Canon glass! It is similar to having a built in ND filter on your camera like you would find in some pro cinema cameras, it is clickless so it is smooth to adjust the brightness/ darkness even while recording, and because the A7 cameras are mirrorless, when ever you change the lens, it has the potential to expose the sensor to dust, this acts as a protection between the sensor and the outside world. The one thing I dislike about using this adapter is the weird lens flares you get when shooting into hard lights. The AF doesn't work well on my A7SII but that is expected with any 3rd party adapter!
Great products! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Definitely I will take some of these gear✌️
I love that Azden SMX-15. I use it as my run and gun, vlogging mic. I think it sounds great, though the shock mount isn't perfect but what is?
Great video Caleb. The Nd adapter looks really useful. Is there something on the market thats similar but for native glass? It would be great to have one Nd adaotor for all lenses without having to buy them for the front of the lens potentially have to buy several sizes or step up rings.
REALLY looking forward to the A7iii guide.
You lose face detect with the external monitor, however you can use zone focusing instead and it tracks very nicely for doing RUclips videos. It’s been working for me very well.
If you use an external recorder, you can get face detection back!
Trey Keys how to you get face detection back with an external recorder? After all that is a monitor as well just like a standard one without the recording function.. no?
@@yuidfbse Gerald Undone has a video on it!
Awesome! Thanks Caleb.
Great video! Quick question, so if i have HDMI connected, I lose phase detection AF, so I assume that it switches to contrast? Would that have any effect if I'm filming a static subject, like vlogging or live streaming? Sorry for the noob question.
Awesome video! A7iii vs GH5s is really interesting to me. Will you still be posting a review of the GH5s?
Great video caleb!
By the way, can you do a comparison between the a6500 and the a7 III in crop mode. Differences of video quality in full HD and 4K, photo quality, dynamic range, and overall performance.
Awesome content! Quick question - have you had any trouble w/ HDMI cables on the a7iii yet? I bought a coiled 12" micro to micro HDMI cable to connect the a7iii to a SlingStudio Cameralink, but the connection at the camera is totally unreliable. I can only get it to work briefly while holding the end of the cable in place. Is there a cable brand you would recommend for this camera? THANK YOU!
notification squaaaad :D
waiting for your review tho :D
Still waiting for the 28-75 to be back in stock
Each of your videos just makes me want to drop more money on gear hahaha
I have a question...
I purchased the Sony A7iii and a Lilliput 4K Field Monitor. The problem I'm having with the monitor is that when I start recording in 4K using the monitor the monitor has no signal, but the signal transfers to the monitor when recording in 1080p. Is there a monitor that can process the 4K signal coming from the Sony A7iii or is it due to me recording 4K internally why it want work?
Caleb... my setup is sooo similar haha. A73, small rig cage, wooden side handle or top handle depending, small hd focus monitor and the rode audio link wireless lav... couldn't recommend the setup more for quick working shots!
Hi, Caleb. I wondred if you could make a video on the power junkie, cause it seems like a tip top product that would be very usefull for many of us, especcialy for the g7 shooters, because there is no batterygrip for the g7. 😁
you can check out our Kickstarter page or youtube channel for more videos. Any questions just ping them our way :)
SLIGHT CORRECTION: the Sony A7iii face detect AF does work when hdmi is in use in 1080/24p. Not in 4K.
Thanks for these advices :)
Isn’t it less balanced with the battery grip?
Thanks cheers 😊
Gerald Undone just did a video demonstrating how you can actually still get face detection with a monitor plugged in by a setting in the Sony cameras. It’s not obvious but it works.
Very nice work! I learned a lot from your channel! Question: I usually use Rode video mic pro (above talent head, wired into GH4) and a lav mic clipped on the subject collar (wired into Zoom H1). The lav mic always sounds a lot better. The camera audio track always captures a lot of noise and the signal-to-noise ratio never seems to be good enough. Is preamp going to help increase SNR? If so, why it does not increase the noise? Do you have some recommendation to learn about audio preamps?
Where did you get the clip on the bottom of the quick release plate that also allows it to attach to a camera strap like hold fast?
Great Video! I'm wondering if there is an ND Throttle Lens Adapter but without lens conversion... Just E to E
To have a easy way to have ND filters for my E lenses! I hate to go all day with diferent front filters for diferent diameters!
And the most important. Do you lose automatism conections??...
Once again! Awesome video! You really face auto detection with a monitor plugged in?! Ahhh that’s so frustrating!
Can you comment on how the battery grip cage might work with rails? My problem with mirrorless is the distance between rails and accessories for follow focus ect if I really wanted to build it out.
The ND Adapter looks interesting!
How does it compare to the otger popular fader NDs? In terms of colour cast and sharpness.
That lens mount adapter with built in ND filter is ingenious! How is the image quality though?
Could you tell me if the battery grip cage would allow you to mount the A7III with a 24-70GM lens to the cage without having to take the lens off the body?
Nice video Caleb..do you think Tamron is going to bring it's new 17-35 DI OSD to Sony?
Thanks again for the awesome video are you selling your GH5s?
Quality videos!
again and again nice short and cool tips!!! keep it up!!
What do you thing is it possible with this tools o gadgets to use with 3 axis gimbals too? i think its to heavy ... i hope not :( because i am filming with one hand 3 axis gimbal with Sony alpha now... What do you thing?
I wish there were more camera cases that accommodated battery grips.
If you're just starting out and want a shotgun mic, the Takstar SGC-598 is cheap as chips but sounds great. I own that one.
Of course, depending on what you're doing, a lav mic might be a better choice.
Hey man! I live in Roscoe and recently talked with Corbyn Tyson. He told me about you. I know it's a difficult question to answer, but I'm trying to figure out which camera to buy. The Sony a7III, or the GH5. OR, wait for the Sony a7sIII which is supposed to be announced soon this year?? I will mainly be using the camera for video; promo videos, sports, family, kids, etc. Photography isn't all that important, but I certainly want to take pictures with it. Your advice will probably help me make my decision. Thanks man! Should meet up for a beer at Prairie Street sometime! Jason
The Cage from Small Rig do they make one that will work for the 70d that will also accommodate the Battery Grip? i been looking for a cage that will also accommodate using the battery grip
great viddeo!
Hi ser, question on your nd throttle, does it have a emount to emount mount? ..planning to try on it my emounts instead of a regular variable nd? Thanks in advance’
Hey Bro, Much awaiting the Guide and your in depth review for the XT3 . I am a Hybrid Shooter and wanted to know your opinion on Choosing the Right Camera between the XT3 and the Sony A7iii . I love the all the Fuji features except it has not IBIS . Thanks for your reply. Anyone else can leave a feedback . i would love to consider your opinions too. I shoot Events, Weddings, Music Videos . Both Still and Videos.
Did you find something wrong with the $75 battery grip you recommended a few videos back? Hopefully not! I just ordered one haha
Power junkie looks good. Just wish the did not use a barrel connector.
Will that batter grip work on the a7ii? Ik the a7iii uses a new type of batter from Sony
Have you tried any halfcages for the a73? I would love a cage that doesn't make the cameras own grip uncomfortable especially when using the batterygrip.
"Super Dank Headphones" haha! YES!
Hi there !
Is there any "don't" indications for using a grip (I got the sony original grip for my sony A7sII) AND usb power supply ?
As we can't use the sony DC power adaptor AND a grip at same time ..
(the idea is to have the grip version cage, plug the usb power when shooting conference 3-4 hours, just take the camera off the tripod ans shoot B roll)
What would be a better choice the Beachtek DXA Micro Pro or the Tascam DR-60DmkII
another great video sir! any info on the handle you’re using? i’ve been looking for a different handle for my a73 smallrig cage that can mount a monitor like yours in this video. please!
Bueller?
quick question, does the Small rig battery grip cage work with the meike grip?
Thanks Caleb
That's a nifty little rig. Can you put a rail mount to it?
Guess im gonna be shopping again. Thanks for providing the affiliate links. I have so many to buy! Ry from Dubai
Panasonic or Sony... which one and why you preferred ? Coming Caleb the comparative v log would good
Have you tried the Mcoplus battery grip for the A7 iii? I thought you mentioned it in one of your videos and said it was good, so I ordered it, or am i mistaken? I see the one is this video is the MEIKE brand which is about 50 bucks more.
Hi my grandson is starting into photography and wants to know can you connect a external hard drive to a Sony a7iii and is it possible to transfer from camera to HD directly
Thanks
Do you lose face detection when using hdmi out on the a7riii? Thanks!
Thanks for the amazing advice .. One question The audio gear You used in this video was captured by the Deity-Microphone-Interview-Recording-Conference ? thank you
Great content! question: which battery goes with the smallrig cage? this link seems to lead nowhere.. or well.. just amazon :)
if i want to attach the battery grip cage to the tripod base plate how can i do that?
Tamron 28-75mm is sold out all over... I had to drive from Houston to Austin, Texas and purchase it from an eBay seller for $1,200.00. It was worth it compared to the Sony 24-70mm /f2.8 for $2,000.00. Which allowed me to use that extra cash to get the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8.
Have you tested the difference in that preamp and the Sony xlr-k2m? I have the k2m but sometimes it’s in the way. Would be nice to mount different places.
I love the new SmallRig Camera + Grip Cage! But i have a critical issue with it. I already bought mine amd looks awesome. But now on my studio setup (using a JTZ DP30 Mattebox, thought the problem is the same with just anouy any Mattebox), the camera sits way too high with the lens far upwards of what the (limited) height adjustment of the Mattebox can do. I am about 25cm too high of the center point of the lens and Mattebox. Any suggestions how to solve this? I tried some rail height adapters to move the Mattebox position's up, and not only is still not enough, but now the whole thing is not sturdy and doesn't sit like a solid rig anymore. Any comments or suggestions Id be most appreciative. As always thanks for the video and love your channel :) :) :)
Is anyone able to tell me if I can use the Sony a7 iii with a battery grip and the glimbal at the same time ?
Hi Caleb, how did You mount the ARRI Rosette to the 2087 cage? I cannot find any option at AMAZON. What is the part number at Smallrig? THX for answering.
Hey Caleb, do we need to use Blindspot's dummy battery adapter, or will any DC work?
Hi, blind spot have 7.2v , but np fz 100 have 8.4v. how it works? Thanks...
Any problems with the battery grip? I've seen some reviews on off brand ones saying stuff like it changes the aperture and things like that. Just wondering if you've had issues with that at all?
Hey bud! Thanks for the video! Question though, I have the ninja inferno and used it on my A7III on a gimbal and face detection WAS working, I was able to see the box on the atomos and was using it all day long. So is that just for ALL HDMI connections or all HDMI except ninja inferno? Because it was working on mine for sure
Millennials Guide to the Galaxy it works in 1080p...not 4K.
What's the best movie settings for the a7?
