Have been wacthing the making of for their albums since their arriving, he was a very humble and a kind brother for the people around, we can see how he had lots of fun doing his music. And the lyrics about death, pain and much more are poetic in a substantial sense. I could say that I have seen a strong heart full of love and gratitude. A genuine and talented heart that blended the beauty and peace of classical music with the necessary bravery to stand for what he is and believe. R.I.P Alexi Wildchild Laiho. You lives forever in my heart.

@@RodrigoLaiho7 Gracias, Rodrigo! Probably most kind and genuine words I have read on RUclips about Alexi so far! Outstanding comment and you nailed it totally with your observations. His music is a poetic embodyment of post industrial era, and that is such a great way to see it. I heard from people who knew him personally that he was trully genuine and humble person in his daily life. You have a great sense of who Alexi was. Your words are much appreciated! This is so far the nicest, deepest and most thoughtful and "closing" tribute to the late metal/guitar idol of my generation. Many thanks Olex for that. :)
I spent the last 3-4 evenings (moderately) drinking and watching hours and hours of Alexi/Bodom footage. Despite being grown up adult, having family, not playing guitar for many years and not actively listening to Bodom songs (not to mention their songs from last decade ..maybe with the exception of Hexed) that regularly anymore, his early death struck me unexpectedly strong. When I now backwards realised that I spent with the guy and his music/riffs/solos/stories at least few thousand hours cca 20 years ago, it almost feels like someone cut out part of myself and threw it away few days ago. This is a feeling that will sooner or later go away. What is worse and what will however not go away is the fact that there will be never ever any new CoB music. It´s over. Finito. The curtain has closed. And what is even more worse is that the live footage of the new lineup from 10/2020 demonstrated how Alexi and his new hatecrew stepped up the game (compared to the sometimes shitty performances during last years) and really practiced the shit out of it to deliver the musicanship that people expect from CoB and they seemed that they are really into it (including Alexi and Daniel) and are eager to play and record more and more. Not to mention that Alexi looked way healthier then he looked most of 2019.
This will probably sound stupid but I really hope that the new 3 recorded songs will sound like shit. In that case I will convince myself that Alexi has already put out his best work and reached his creative peak and left this world with (musically) nothing left unsaid and no magnum opus lying ahead of him. Otherwise the loss will be even greater and people will be left wondering forever what could have been ... what neck(and fingers)breaking motherfuckers and 80s shredding solos could have seen the light of day.
    Goodbye buddy!

Thank you Michal for taking the time to watch this vid and share your story and kind feedback, it is mush appreciated! You are totally right, it is shocking and unreal taking into account how much yet Alexi could have done. I am pretty much sure that his potential was not completely unvealed as it happened many times in history that man reached the pinacle of their intellectual and productivity hight by the age of 35-40. Mendeleev for example was ready with his periodic table by the age of 35, Wheeler came to notion of "black holes" way in his 70s, lots of Nobel Prize winners made their discoveries in their 40s and 50s. I would dare to assume that we could have seen so much more music made by Alexi if...but as we know history doesn't stand subjunctives like "if", so let's just be honest with outrselves and accept the facts as they are. It is indeed striking to loose someone so familiar after so long, yet the beauty of loosing an artist is that they stay alive through their legacy and collective memory of their audience. Alexi carved his name in the "hall of fame" for many years ahead. We are lucky to have hours of footage recorded. Let's hope people get to enjoy them for years to come. Long live rock'n'roll!

Excellently put, my friend. This is verbatim exactly how I feel. Completely agree with everything you feel, including even having not listened to Bodom regularly over thw last decade, but for the old stuff, again with the exception of Hexed. Couldn't agree more, with the exception that I actually want the 3 new songs to be absolutely brilliant, so that it adds, even if just a minor fraction, to the incredible body of work and the enormous and indelible mark and legacy that he left behind. I would still, of course, in that case, wonder what could have been. He is sorely sorely missed.

@@ALMStudios we are living in a time that the greatest musicians/legends are living right now. These guys paved the way and have basically said everything there is to say. We can repeat they’re language, maybe in a shaded different light. But everything musically has been said by the living, and some recent tragic losses. All these recent losses were way before they should’ve been. These pioneers had more to say, unfortunately now, we’ll never know what that was. Dimebag, Alexi, and Eddie Van Halen were a small small few that kept guitar solos alive all through the 90’s when no one else was playing solos.

So he played violin as a kid? No wonder why his fingers always looked like needles on the guitar. I still remember that back in the day when I was just becoming a guitar player the behavior of his hands was absolutely scary. It was outstanding to watch such proficiency on the instrument while doing vocals at the same time. He might not be the best guitar player ever in metal history (Which is always a pretentious statement ), but I'm pretty sure he's one of the greatest frontmen I've ever seen in my life. I stopped following Children Of Bodom after their fourth album because I was too hard into In Flames and all that Swedish melodic death metal movement at that time, but their first three records represent a good chunk of my heavy metal journey. I feel ridiculous and I'm trying to understand why the death of someone I never met personally is hitting me so hard, but these reasons I've just told you were the only explanation I could find about it so far.
    Rest in power Wild Child.

Great observation, thanks for sharing! Appreciate the time you took to check out this vid. I think it is a great guess about his violin training and I am sure that this had its own impact on his guitar style. Many guitarists were criticised for "no playing right", for example Jimmi Hendrix was criticised by the way he was holding guitar and plaing with his thumb...personally I could care less about how these folks were playing or holding their guitars, as the music they were creating is outstanding! It is also a part of their signature style and persona, why would we want to have artists who do same stuff and hold their tools in the same way? Open question. Thank you for sharing your story and observations, these are great insights! I am sure it will take time before we realise the level of persona that he was. He'll stay alive as long as his music is remembered. Long live rock'n'roll!

The beauty of being an artist though is that your legacy will carry on as long as your artistic work is preserved. Alexi's memory will stay alive as long as his music is remembered and solos are played. Long live rock'n'roll 🔥

Thank you, my guy, for taking the time to check out the video and leave your kind feedback. My experience communicating with the band is rather modest I was just doing my thing. Made an interview with Henkka about his 20+ years experience playing in COB (it's on my channel). With Alexi we had a very short time together to add something more meaningful to what I have already said about him. The only thing that comes to mind is that I got an impression of him being rather tired. I guess Hexed tour was rather difficult for guys in general taken that it was their last tour after 27 years of active career life. Henkka summer it up quite well in the interview, check it out 💪
