Simple inputs are your friend till you get the combos down pat, especially if this is your first fighting game. Don't worry about the magic refill rate, cuz that's the only real benefit. Learn the characters and the damage specials first then go all in with the flashy combos and stuff. It's cool and you wanna look cool. I get it, but fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. I can't stress it enough. You will always have better success with a 2 or 3-hit combo you can pull off consistently, than a Ten string you can hit 20%of the time, mainly because you prob don't know how to create the situation so that your combo works. Just focus on hitting the dude and not letting him hit you.
I saw on Max's stream this game does has dash blocking using the block button, i used to hate the movement without the ability to do it but this is kinda neat. Dunno if it's obvious and everybody knows about it already or if it'll b viable in the long term, just thought I would mention it. i do fumble and do accidental dash rolls but I like using it with sader since his run speed is slow
One little bit of advice I have for this game is to mostly stay on the ground. Most of the characters have REALLY big specials that'll smack you out of the air and there's no air blocking
... you are absolutely right. My roommate and I match up Grappler and Striker and every time I make the attempt to jump over his huge shoulder tackle, no matter how high or early/late I try... hits me out of the sky every time. But I feel compelled to approach from the sky because a lot of her offense is just hanging out up there. But being grounded against him, his grabs prioritize activating over my punching hit boxes. And you can't tech those command grabs as far as i'm aware. ... really rough stuff not being able to air guard.
On Ghostblade against striker, where I know that two mistakes can be death, and I can play around range better, if I am forced into being defensive I will use super early to give me space to better play around my range and "reset" the field.
There is a bug/annoyance for Keyboard users that might even prevent people from playing: The Buttons Setting has settings for P1 and P2. Uniquely to keyboard, you can't have the same button mapped for both players, so if you f.e wanna use numpad for movement you won't be able to assign it to P1 controls bc it's already assigned to P2. So if you can't assign a key to an action check if the P2 side uses it before starting to get frustrated ^^
I literally can't play at all. I'm on steam and I only have a keyboard. I'm stuck on the EULA and I can't scroll no matter what I do with my mouse and keyboard.
Using the guard button to block feels so strange to me but I have to learn to get comfortable with it to deny left-right mix-ups. This game has some high execution ceiling combos for a game aimed at beginners. Kunoichi Awakening combos in particular are ridiculously long with multiple links.
was this recorded on stream? because if so this is probably the best put together on stream fighting game video like this I’ve seen. cuts and skips at the right time, title cards to introduce each chapter. perfect sweet spot when it comes to the editing imo even if not though, still a great vid, thanks for this
I have questions. Could you make a video which explains the basics of these games? I am a tekken player. I dont know how mix ups work in this game (is it as simple as : grabs / overheads vs. lows?). What is a blockstring? How does pressure work in this game ( for example i heard that strikers dive kick or grapplers „leaping move“ is plus on block, if my opponent blocks it , what now? ) How do these situations play out in genereal, whats a good idea , what is a bad idea/ do not do that , thats a beginner mistake it is a waste of your opportunity. How does oki work here? What is OTG (heard that often). How important is frame data in general and compared to tekken, where it is basically essential. When should i jump and not jump (in general) . How are certain matchups played ? As a tekken player, i have a basic idea how zoner vs pure melee would look like, but not a real understanding. Could you make a video on these 2d [?] fighting game basics?
@@HadesHatredEdge Oh thats true. Didnt realize that. Its been a while since I played DFO and Berserker looks really similar to the Male Slayer. I thought Ghost Blade was a base class. Thanks now I have more hope for Dragoon :D
is there a different between using the easy input ms moves or fully doing the input for the ms moves? i was messing around with it in training but i didn’t see no difference?
Does the guard cancel have a meter on it? Like do you need to wait for something to guard cancel. I’ve tried to use it before and it doesn’t come out. Also the way I picked my character was I went into training and hit random. So now I’m a ghost blade main🙂
You have to be in block stun to use the guard cancel and it also takes 100mp. Basically what that means is something has to be hitting your guard when you use it.
I'm really only struggling with getting in on launcher, enchantress and maybe swiftmaster. Their zoning game is just a snoozefest and I would rather just not play against these characters at all.
These are the ones man, swiftmaster especially. He needs to be nerfed. Launcher is crazy but atleast she isnt fast like swifty and yeah that rope move with enchatress and her purple orb move is ridiculous.

Better to learn without guard button, and just use back and back crouch, it uses more guard meter and you can't grab out of guard button

Super helpful vid as always. Appreciate it!

Solution: don't get caught in long combos.

How do you know what’s plus and what’s not? I’ve been trying to figure that out in training but no luck

No cap. Diaphone cute af
Babe wake up new Diaphone video
i think the super doesnt get scalled, so it's also another reason to use it as a finisher in a combo.
It does, max damage at 400 raw, and goes to 300 with a short hit before, and lowest at 200 as a finisher in a combo. All combos work like this
coming from MK, I prefer a dedicated Guard button
I'm getting this game today!
Psst... send me your top secret option selects.
Thank for the tips :)
How do you even do the command to guard cancel?
Not one chapter on combos? 🤔
