Thanks for a very informative film on how Ukrainian immigrants like my parents helped shaped Canada's economical and cultural growth. Dedication to hard/honest work, devotion of faith and love of family has always been an Ukrainian/Canadian's strength. I will forever cherish my Ukrainian heritage.
This church and cemetery at the beginning is St Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sirko MB. Some of those graves belong to my Gido’s first family. That Easter service, I see family and friends, many not here any longer. The old church (a newer one is on the site too), my great Gido was the craftsman who did the interior. This is life my families’ experiences, a part of my childhood in SE Manitoba, and I’m proud to be a 2nd generation Ukrainian Canadian.
This is really my favourite Channel! Thanks for your nice Videos, it is very enlightening, Waiting for your latest update. Canadian Ukrainian Memorial Park
Hi Ed it was the same in America and Bosnia Herzegovina in North Dakota Ukrainians even married native Indians the same in Canada. Life was tough alot of bad luck and eventually getting better Ukrainians in Canada farm 12 million acres.
There was no doubt that these people worked very hard as pioneers. But the big difference is that they had a choice. This hard work paid off for them and their children. I would compare them to any immigrant that came to the new world.
@@lauraz2896 I know immigrants that came here 20-30 years ago with clothing on their backs and didn’t even know English. Now, they are millionaires!!! Hard work baby!!!
@@paultaylorbikes Exactly. Immigrants have that opportunity. I was addressing those that came here as slaves that did not have the opportunity to grow their riches.
@@paultaylorbikes True. And many of their descendants are millionaires too. But of course you are not understanding the point. There were generations of slaves that did not have the opportunity to make good for themselves like other immigrants.

An amazing recording of history.
Listening to the older woman speak at the 8 minute mark really reminds me of my grandmother's voice, who was from Western Ukraine

Please, does anyone know the song in the credits? It sounds like Їхав Козак Містом or Ой гиля, гиля, but I know it’s different
This should be required viewing for anyone talking about “white privilege”
