Urban rail transit in India plays an important role in intracity transportation in the major cities which are highly populated. It consists of rapid transit, suburban rail, monorail and tram systems. According to a report published in 2021, a total of 2.63 billion people travelled annually in metro systems across India's fifteen major cities, placing the country as one of the busiest urban rapid transit hubs in the world in terms of ridership. The combined length of 810 kilometres (500 miles) of metro systems in India makes it the fourth longest in operation in the world.

One request to the people of India.
I know metro system is a sign of prosperity in India and it eases our commute as well but please if you know your city will not be able to sustain a functional metro system then kindly do not demand it, i know i know you must be thinking why not have a metro in our city, but there is a right time for everything, remember these metro systems are costly, they do not come for free, so what's the point of having one if it is not efficiently used.
I belong to Gwalior and i know a metro system will not be efficient here, after 5 years yes it may be but not today, it will create an economic burden on my city.
Have patience everyone will get it but in a sustained manner.

Enough metros, now work should start on Rapid Transit systems that connect multiple cities in 100-500km lines at 160kmph speeds
India is highly suitable for Rapid Transit, it will even alleviate highway traffic and emissions.
Such work is already being done at Delhi-Meerut RRTS!! Other Cities should follow suit.
Mumbai--Pune-Nashik triangle and Bengaluru-Chennai-Hyderabad triangle have high potential for ridership, additionally low cost housing can also become feasible outside city centres, it is win win!

@@aniruddhdeshpande7319 you have to spread resources too thin to focus on multiple projects instead of just doing 1 or 2 flagship projects. The growth potential for GDP outside centre of cities is high and cities have begun to reach saturation especially after Internet accessibility increased and recent pandemic reflected the cons of living in a city if you have a work from home option. Plus after completion of current ongoing and approved projects I think there will be enough metro lines to adapt to the needs of the city, after all Mumbai has seen exceptional ridership and satisfaction with only 3 local lines, less than 1/5th the number compared to other globalised cities, efficiency is key here.
Edit: Thus it is my opinion that proposing and working on regional intercity transit rather than local intracity people movers suits the needs of our country better.

I just recently realised that a lot of western cities usually have multiple lines on same track. Depending on starting points on same track lives are colour coded. It's like having three different colour coded lines on single yellow line of Delhi metro with starting points from Samyapur Badli, Vishwavidyalaya and Rajiv Chowk. And sometimes different lines share most of the tracks except for small stretch. So, instead of one DMRC blue line for both Vaishali and Noida Electronic City, we can have two separate lines. This make their network look big without actually spending a lot of money. So, western countries are definitely trying to show how much they are spending on civilian infrastructure without actually spending.

    • @KanishQQuotes

Reason is because in the western countries traditional railway and metro often share tracks.

In India, people and Government want a lot of new infrastructure instead of using/changing already existing infrastructure better.

The only western country that has a big population is USA that too not even 500m and most of their citizens travel by car. Most western countries especially Europe have a good tram system. That is not the reason. In many cases the different lines are operated by different companies. Also, income cases you have separate express and local lines. Reduce words spoken. 2) Separate the video sections using clear Transitions 3) Use good sized texts giving info on relevant sections. Reading data is better than hearing. 4) Show clips relevant to script being read. 😄👏👍

    1. Mumbai Metropolitan Region
    2. Delhi NCR
    3. Bengaluru
    4. Kolkata - Haora
    5. Hyderabad - Secunderabad
    6. Chennai
    7. Ahmedabad - Gandhinagar
    8. Pune - Pimpri Chinchwad

Why waste time and money building metro rails in tier 2 or 3 cities when even the metropolitan regions have been left behind their time.
Why does Vasanasi, Prayagraj or Agra need a metro rail when they are barely able to execute city bus services. Plus Indians in Tier 2 and 3 cities are used to commute with private vehicles tier 2 and 3 cities dont have traffic problems in almost 20 to 30 mins max you can reach your destination. Once upon a time our nation had from iraq/syria till Indonesia and from tibet till sri Lanka.
Unfortunately due to foreign invaders like mughal & British had divided our nation into multiple countries and ruled so badly.
So we must implement one india policy as like one china policy to make nation stronger, United and Prosperous into world map.
We must have to reclaim our ancestors land and our bharat varsha history to reclaim out roots and foundation too.
