Lastly bhai aapane kaha tha ki Sealdah Kolkata ka second largest railway station lekin o to India ka bhi second largest railway station o to nahin kaha😢 11:29
one small correction, Howrah was electrified in DC Current in late 1950s when WCM series locos were borrowed from CR, DC EMUs ran between Howrah & Barddhaman & Tarakeshwar, later in early 1960s AC Current was made uniform & EMUs started running on Howrah-Kharagpur, Howrah Barddhaman via Chord, WAM 2/3 locos from ER was used & WAM 1 from SER was used in 1960s.
Also Shalimar was built as a yard in 1900s.
Good information
Kolkata is served by 5 major stations Howrah, Sealdah, Santragachi, Shalimar, Kolkata(Chitpur), other stations are local railway stations serving the local people of the city and people from nearby districts.
Bro you forgot Dum Dum
@@DXRK_GXMING wo local trains ke liye hai dum dum se ek bhi express train nahi jaati hai 😊
Dankuni also ,as some trains originate from there
Bardhamman also
@@Jygt6f677vih8h dankuni theke kono train er origination nei ar Dankuni kolkata theke onek dur e.
howrah platform no 16 reconstruction started
There are already 23 platforms
@@priyanshu.sharma.0002 16 nhi hai. 16 construction ho raha hai
I don't know why but I find it annoying when suddenly someone changes the language under the discussion.

I live in Barddhaman near Kolkata... and I must tell your every video is a detailed analysis and well edited... Thank you for making a video on Howrah junction... Take love ❤
Is Burdwan really near Kolkata? I think it is about 100 kilometres away from Howrah Station..... 😅
@@RehanAli-jy5cu ha eh bhik sahi baat hain...
@@RehanAli-jy5cu actually we in Bengal like to associate with our capital Kolkata so irrespective of where we belong to, we tell near kolkata or from kolkata since the world knows kolkata

Hats off to your reasearch bro❤
Howrah Jn. Platform no. 16 still exists. .😅..just like Harry Potter Movie...only specific people go through Hogward Express. ...😂
❤yes
LoL what? 🤣🤣🤣
Well said 😂
There was a local train running from Howrah to Sealdah & vice-versa but it was stopped around 2005.
& I think Sealdah is the 2nd busiest station in India.
do you know the route of the train as there is no direst route from howrah to sealdah, only way would be going to dankuni and then reversing and taking the sealdah route
@@kaif5799 there is a roundabout after Belanagar station. Howrah Sealdah was connected through that. Howrah to belanagar then to rajchandrapur then to sealdah.
Now metro will connect
@@kaif5799 calcutta chord link
@@ankandas1131Thanks, I didn't know about that route though it's almost similar to going to dankuni as belanegar as per my knowledge is just one station away from dankuni.
Kindly make a video on Kolkata Tram! I feel it's a heritage railway

Sealdah o
I think no one explained this much about Hawrah station...Clear and detailed ..nice effort
WEST BENGAL'S FIRST ELECTRIC TRAIN WAS RUN FROM HOWRAH TO SHEORAPHULI ON 12TH DECEMBER 1957 .
Fun Fact: There is no Platform 16 in Howrah Railway Station..😅😅😅 Platform 1 to 15 in Old Complex and 17 to 23 in New Complex
4:34 there was no direct rail connectivity between Kolkata and Dhaka up until 2005. Before that people have to take a Broad Gauge train from Sealdah to Goulanda Ghat via Ranaghat Jn, Pordaha Jn & Kushtia. Then it was a steamer ride on Padma/Ganga river all the way to Narayanganj and then from there a Metre gauge train to Dhaka from where you can take a Metre gauge train to either Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chittagong or Silchar
Platform 16 is there.
But due to howrah metro construction platform 16 not in work.
Currently platform 16 working
Is silchar line still operational?
Yes currently 16 is working.. But due to metro construction the trains stop way before the end of the platform tracks
Gotta have to give it to you , thank you , you have made one of the most detailed video , I am really grateful to you 🙏
Too good and Informative.... Above 100% coverage.... Thanks for bringing us this video....

Hey bro thanks for making video on this topic
Howrah Burdwan chord line was electrified in 1964-66 not in 2001.
Feels so good mere sheher me railway station itna purana hai
😮
Being a howrah basi, feel proud....nice and informative video...
Great insightful video sirji
public transport is the backbone of any country. Trains are best way to move lots of people around. Govt must increase budget to 5 Lakh Crores per annum. Highways not required as much due to Induced Traffic.
What about logistics bhai😅
Highways are must
Not for America
People think public transport is for poor people!
Logistics could also be supplied by trains at much lower cost. That's why the DFCs are getting built.
But I understand your point. I think India should restrict private car ownership to something like Singapore.... And increase public transport and make them world class which will be much more efficient and environment friendly
@@arpanb2001 never restrict. bas public transport ko itna competitive karne ka so that it becomes a hard bargain for purchasing a car.
@@bibekdas7449 American people are stupid. Paris has banned cars in city centre areas. London has introduced ULEZ where cars cost high toll to ride in city centre. Amsterdam has globally known cycling culture, including for the rich. These places can do that because they have great public transport. America doesn't have that, so they are kinda forced to use cars. For us, European countries should be a role model, not American ones.

Nice video, but you've missed a very important point about the Howrah Station. It is the internal carriageway between platforms 8 & 9 which was used by The Viceroy of India and other high ranking officials and which is now solely present in Howrah Station and not seen in any other station of India.
Is there a place to Increase platforms of Howrah station

Howrah bridge is still the sixth longest cantilever bridge in the entire world, the longest cantilever bridge in India by a significant margin.
Closing the trams on Howrah Bridge was a conspiracy by then government to make the bus union happy.
Now trams are needed to reduce congestion and pollution
But actually trams were causing congestion I guess u have also faced it I also did during that time almost left for station 3 hrs before departure
what are ur sources(i want to know where do u get so knowledge)
