    To anyone who finds this offensive, don't watch. This represents our way of life, providing healthy food for our families, from a seal population which has grown out of control. Most people who complain are too far removed from where their food actually comes from. How much natural habitat had to be destroyed to raise those chicken nuggets, bacon, and hamburgers, or for all the soy and lettuce for our vegetarian friends? How much was destroyed to naturally raise and harvest this ADULT seal? ZERO!! Before you criticize because you think a seal is cute, look in your refrigerator. And as for Mike who said he hated Canada because of this video, grow up. You say you're a hunter. And by the way, thousands of Americans come to Canada every year to hunt big game, taking back only the heads to display in their homes. Such hypocrisy.

      I hunt . I do not see this as hunting when you are on a commercial vessel.

      Ppl can call it what they want but I see it as a way of life. The seal population is out of control! This is no different than any other type of hunting. Considering livestock doesn’t stand a chance. They are grown to be slaughtered. They don’t even have a chance to escape. That’s just life. As long as you aren’t wasting them then it is fine. Just an ethical means of survival.

    So true William, most people outside of the north don't realize how expensive food really is in them there isolated places...and that's when you can get it....don't even look for fresh meat to buy...what you get is stuff frozen sometimes 4 or 5 months prior...half rotten taken of sobeys or loblaws shelves then re-frozen then shipped abroad, great to see someone like yourself taking full advantage of what the land and sea has to offer!!!

My Grandfather Henry John Williams would enjoy watching these like I do, him being a trapper in Winter, a fisherman and sealer... dog team racer/owner and being from the southcoast as well... makes me proud and these videos are very exciting to watch, keeping our heritage alive and strong buddy!

    And people say the ar15 can’t hunt anything. Same caliber as this rifle. It would make a perfect seal gun, too bad Canadians can’t have AR’s and Americans don’t have seals.

      Its a excellent caliber for seal hunting, before we use to use .222 & 22-250 but you can get .223 cheaper so now its a very popular caliber for hunting seals & very deadly...

    The speedboat is a bit old, they don't put the fiberglass on them like they did back then. She's a bit heavy but tough as nails, the weight also helps push the ice apart, lighter boats tend to rise up on the ice to easy. Thank's Boss, appreciate it ..!!

    Was great fun thank's, no wasn't a large string, if your havin trouble getting through the ice then you can load the boat down with a bit of ice, trimmed a bit by the bows. This keeps her from rising on the ice, you can turn her on a dime & the extra weight helps push the ice apart, you be surprised on what these boats can get through. Blades is the biggest worry, i've had a VHF radio & a satelite phone with me, just in case ..!!

  • @ya13ya03

  • @Biglandtrapper
    @Biglandtrapper  11 лет назад

    I got a bit in me, i'm a member of NunatuKavut, the wife is a member of Nunatsiavut. You don't need to be native to hunt seals, you can get a licence to hunt for food, I believe your allowed 6 seals on that license. I also hold a commerical sealing licence.
