A little known strategy that animals from almost every species employ when under attack by predators is to sacrifice the infants, the sick, and the elderly by pushing them to the edge of the herd. Fatter animals probably were better fed and thus healthier and more inclined to push weaker animals into the pathway of the predators. Thus, your statement concerning the decredited social darwinism is not correct.

Yes. The orcas have to eat, and their prey is seals. The seals have to eat, and their prey is fish and other other animals. But all this _actual_ killing is in the service of furthering the lives of critical parts of an ecosystem. Why do humans feel the need for _figurative_ killing of fellow humans by trolling, threats, insults? I have taken a break from that senseless cruelty to watch pure nature at work.
