Man fuck all the haters. Hunting is a natural part of the circle of life. It's a good way to control the population and and great source of income. At least it was quick and painless.
I have a question about the harpoon you used to secure the seal. It seems that whatever you placed at the tip of the harpoon is supposed to snag in the seal's flesh so the body doesn't drift away when you attach the booie (if misspelled, I apologize). Is that tip a kind of broadhead that you attach to the harpoon or is it included when you buy the harpoon?
I know this is fucked up but how can people be mad and be surprised about this shit when there are cows and chickens and other animals that are slaughtered every day... Its called food. This is the stuff that keeps us alive
All we usually use here are .22 caliber long rifles or .17 hmr's or small rifles like that. Sometimes 12 gauge when it's wavy, for long shots either .223 or my dads custom built 6.8 spc. That way we don't blow up the head like that..
Great video, with beautiful scenery. I'd love to visit Scandinavia one day. Great shot too. I'd love to hear about the rifle you're using. I had to turn down the volume on the vid though. That music was painful.
why? it was an ethnical shot the seal was dead as soon as the bullet hit it. + that there is allot of them and they eat allot of fish so we have to regulate them so there is fish left.
Nice seal you got there, are you going to post more seal hunting videos in the future? Do tan the seal skin(hide)? Seal skins are so beautiful I am putting up a video soon on how to tan a seal hide, if you are interested.
Man if the "hunters" on the other videos were as good shots as this guy there would have to be no clubbing. Hunting for personal subsistence is fine with me as long as it is as clean and humane as this guy does it. Props to him
A lot of times a club is a much cleaner kill, it is much easier to miss with a gun, a sealing club has a very sharp prong on it to ensure a quick clean kill.
mark connolly Nope, hunting seals is either a clean hit or complete miss. Headshots are prefered since bodyshots most times makes the seal dive, die underwater and sink.
i know this is bad but . . . HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THAT WAS AN AWESOME SHOT, YOU CAN BRAG ABOUT THAT, A HEAD SHOT AND UNDERWATER. It's impossible to do that to a Shark but a seal, not going to lie but that was a fantastic shot
du brukte ekspandere ammunisjon ikkesant? jeg skøt min første kobbe i dag med 308 helmantel, og den var ikke like rasert på utsiden men jeg kjente att skallen var knust.
For some, it is likely because they have a feeling that one shouldn't destroy something beautiful, but this is not the rational argument against this practice. The rational reason that some folks have to be sensitive to this is that seals have the same positive and negative range of experiences as we humans have, and if those experiences grant humans some moral protection, they ought to grant seals the same protection.
Many people ( and kids) need to learn about nature and how nature should be maintained by someone other than Hollywood movies. To kill wildlife, so the stocks is kept at a healthy level, is very important! This keeps nature healthy so that we preserve all species !
Nice clean kill bud nothing wrong with sustainable hunting. Seal lived a free life until it was harvested cleanly for food if its not endangered just about arguably perfect.
Great video man. Nice shot. To all the idiots out there, the seal died instantly, the .308 blew half its head off. Im sure he enjoyed a few good meals from it too.
Jeg vill ikke anbefale og bruke helmantel på kobbe, det ender som regel med skadeskutt sel. Med ekspanderende kuler er det null skade skyting. Jeg bruker A-Max kuler på kobbe tror de er 123grain
can you please point of the torture in this beautiful video? cause I do not see any, and how is hunting non-endangered animals "destroying the future of the earth"?
Honestly I would be against this but Im more against a killing while the animal is still conscious and torture but in this case it was a clean headshot so no argument there
Traditional seal hunting Inuit seal hunting Archeological evidence indicates the Native Americans and First Nations People in Canada have been hunting seals for at least 4,000 years. Traditionally, when an Inuit boy killed his first seal or caribou, a feast was held. The meat was an important source of fat, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B12 and iron,[9] and the pelts were prized for their warmth. The Inuit diet is rich in fish, whale, and seal. There were approximately 150,000 circumpolar Inuit in 2005 in Greenland, Alaska, Russia, and Canada.[10] According to Kirt Ejesiak, former secretary and chief of staff to then-Premier of Nunavut, Paul Okalik and the first Inuk from Nunavut to attend Harvard, for the c. 46,000 Canadian Inuit, the seal was not "just a source of cash through fur sales, but the keystone of their culture. Although Inuit harvest and hunt many species that inhabit the desert tundra and ice platforms, the seal is their mainstay. The Inuktitut vocabulary designates specific objects made from seal bone, sinew, fat and fur used as tools, games, thread, cords, fuel, clothing, boats, and tents. There are also words referring to seasons, topography, place names, legends, and kinship relationships based on the seal. One region of Canada's north is inhabited by the Netsilingmiut, or "people of the seal."[10][11] The title of Ejesiak's article acknowledged the pivotal 1991 publication entitled Animal Rights, Human Rights by George Wenzel, a McGill University geographer and anthropologist who worked more than two decades with the Clyde Inuit of Baffin Island. Wenzel's "scholarly examination" of "the impact of the animal rights movement upon the culture and economy of the Canadian Inuit" was among the first to reveal how animal rights groups, "well-meaning people in the dominant society through misunderstanding and ignorance can inflict destruction" on a vulnerable minority.[12] Traditional Inuit seal hunting accounts for three percent of the total hunt; it is excluded from the European Commission's call in 2006 for a ban on the import, export and sale of all harp and hooded seal products.[13] Ringed seals were once the main staple for food, and have been used for clothing, boots, fuel for lamps, as delicacy, containers, igloo windows, and in harnesses for huskies. Though no longer used to this extent, ringed seals are still an important food source for the people of Nunavut.[14] Called nayiq by the Central Alaskan Yup'ik people, the ringed seal is also hunted and eaten in Alaska. Seals were also hunted in northwest Europe and the Baltic Sea more than 10,000 years ago.[citation needed] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_hunting (seals are of Least Concern) Don't be so hasty to dismiss hunting as barbarous simply because of the physically appealing nature of the animal. further reference: www.canadainternational.gc.ca/eu-ue/policies-politiques/seals-phoques.aspx?lang=eng
Allison Strait The seal transfers parasites to the fish in the area, and thats a really bad thing when this area is the main breeding site for norwegian cod. Also it tastes VERY good, so its several kg`s of meat we can eat + we remove a disease source. Learn the fucking story behind this before you open your mouth about of horrible and cruel this is. Without seal hunting there would for sure be less quality cod, haddock, saithe and salamon coming from norway, to feed hundreds of thousands mouths throughout Europe and so on. Looking forward to go seal hunting with this Sondre soon, as we work together. Have a nice ignorant life.
What was to the seal its whole life was to you worth a couple of days culinary pleasure. Fair exchange? You could easily have eaten something else, and then the seal wouldn't have to die.

What's with all the crying hippies, that head shot was friggin awesome and I wonder how it tastes like
Fresh seal is tasty and healthy.
And so is whale.
Two of my favourites.
Whale, BBQ, Beer, Sunshine - Could life get any better ?
126 people who do not know that hunting preserves wildlife . .hunt is what has brought back animal numbers around the world
Man fuck all the haters. Hunting is a natural part of the circle of life. It's a good way to control the population and and great source of income. At least it was quick and painless.
No bubbles in the water after means a very quick clean kill, how will you prepare it for eating?
look at how clean the water is!!

better safe than sorry, make sure it's a quick kill. don't wanna leave the seal to slowly bleed to death in pain

cool video. the surrounding nature is beautiful, the music is awesome and i bet the hunt is fun
Hunting with silencer is not illegal in Norway, we have less restrictions on them than some countries.

Timo Timo But a seal is no smarter than other mammals, and compared to a pig they are retarded.
Tbf, in some places hunting isn't as clean and a lot of the meat is wasted.
Wow! that 308 does the job! nice shot. :)
Nice head shot, next time I am in Norway I might try my hand on this.

Nirupam Banerjee do you have any idea how much harm seals causes?

A telescopic gaff pole comes to mind - for these sinkers.
Kjempebra film! Legg gjerne ut mer :)
its amazing how the media has demonized this in eastern canada..yet it is ok in norway apparently as i dont see any comments here bashing norwiegans.
Fy faen som jeg misunner natur og jaktområdet ditt :) ... Flott!!
I could do with some baby seal ribs right now ummmmm
Damn I want to eat some seal!
It's tough being a seal some days.
like a deer or something like that? they dont harm you either, but people hunt them
its for food… how life works
Silencer is LEGAL in Norway!

Still better way to hunt than canadian seal clubbing
I did not see any "savage torturing" in this video
cry magnus
