    The video description is great! This kind of cigarette lighter USB integrated machine is necessary. I bought this elecdeer brand not long ago. After using it for a period of time, it feels very convenient and very good. Everyone can spare one.

    What was the name of the connection wire that plugs into the stock plug of the vstrom

    • @NamelessRiderz
      @NamelessRiderz  2 года назад

      Hi Amber i don't recall, the manual might tell you what the plug is called and then from there you might be able to find it.
      Possibly eastern beaver accessory adaptor is what you're looking for, hope that helps

    they looked to me like they were crimp connectors, that I have used in the past to add USB to my bike a year ago, they required "Crimping Pliers" they allow you to strip the wires and then crimp(squeeze or crush) the connector. hopefully your effort works out for you. thank you for the awesome camping videos, have watched them all.

      +Paul Barnett Thanks Paul, yes I found out I was doing the wrong thing 😀 although it works for now, I do need to revisit it and fix it properly!
      Crimping pliers I guess are the ones with different shapes/sizes along the pincers?

    to get a nice a 10 ,20 or 30mm hole use a step down drill bit . A crimper, the right spade clips , some heat shrink and a inline fuse wouldn't hurt either . how did this even come up on my feed ????

    You did a nice job with what you had to work with, BUT, part of the reason your previous chargers gave out after a year may be because of the materials you are using. Duct tape does not create a waterproof seal and loosens up over time and with heat. Maybe next time before your installation, get some liquid electrical tape. You simply brush it on connections and let it dry for like 5 minutes for a waterproof, flexible bond and seal. Super easy and effective and really only like 5 bucks at the big box hardware stores. I'm in the states but I'm sure they have something similar down under too. That will prevent any arcing between connections when there is moisture present. I have always used liquid electrical tape on any connections I made on my bikes and have NEVER had any problems whatsoever for years and years. The liquid electrical tape actually outlasted the bikes. Just some thought for any future electrical connections and installations. Keep on havin' fun and be safe.

      That's a great tip!!
      I probably will if I ever connect it properly, so far it's still working 😀
      As for the previous chargers I had, they were plug and play so no exposed wires.. just dirt cheap Chinese stuff..

  • @sunnymas2656
    @sunnymas2656 6 лет назад +1

    You have to cramp it with a pliers. Not heaten up.
    If you connect something direct to the battery, you need always a fuse between, on the + line.
    For the USB Charger, take a fuse with low ampere, ie 5A.

    • @NamelessRiderz
      @NamelessRiderz  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks mate, next time I get under there I'll change it, so far it's worked well! 😁
      I should have researched a bit more before I did the heating thing 😁
      A fuse is a good idea, however I'd imagine the auxiliary connection has its own fuse, but I'll look into it..

      @@NamelessRiderz Thanks for your answer.
      Check the fuse who is connected to your cable. How much Ampere (A) ?
      This USB Charger has an output of max 4,2 A. - So I would use max 5A Fuse.
      To find the fuse.
      Switch on, so the blue indicator is on.
      (Engine is off)
      Remove one fuse at another.
      If the blue indicator gets off = this is his fuse.
      I would use two small USB Multiport-Adapter. To connect permanently at the Charger.
      Tu plug your electronics in the multiport.
      Because the Plastic inside the USB port can break easily. And if - then it is too risky to use it (shortcut = damage all.)
      If it breaks in the multiport = you can swap easy and cheap to a new one.
      If it breaks in the charger = more difficult and expensive to swap.
      If you use two multiports, you have always one as a backup.
      And you have full 2,1 Ampere on every multiport.
      Greetings from sw germany.
      (43 years on motorcycle.)

      What's your take on rain though if I were to attach these multi port adaptors?

      @@NamelessRiderz I have a scooter too, and I mount all in my stock front box at my scooter. (fuse box, 12 V connectors, USB charger, etc.)
      With small holes at the side (one side open) , i can put the cables temporary out, even if the box is closed.
      At a motorcycle you need a small box, to protect the USB connectors from rain.
      At motorcycles etc. you must protect all against rain, as you would drive under a shower non-stop.
      My worst ride was with bad rain clothes.
      So I got wet and cold at all. Even underwear.
      But the rain doesn´t stop. And 180 kilometers back home. And my job again, next morning.

    • @NamelessRiderz
      @NamelessRiderz  6 лет назад

      Yeah the USB charger has a cap on it to protect from the rain.. just means I can't charge while it's raining..

      +platterfreak Thanks mate! It's a great "no thrill" bike!!
      It's very reliable, I haven't had any problems with it (35000 km).
      I use it every day to go to work and ride on the weekends, hasn't failed me once.
      If your looking for a reliable, affordable bike this is the one.
      The only gripe I have is that the windshield was giving me a lot of buffeting, so I'd probably recommend a different windshield, but this depends on your height and maybe what helmet you have..
      I would do a test ride!!
      Any other information you can find on stromtroopers.com great community that covers about everything on the bike.
      Except a video showing how to install the auxillary plug, hence the video..😀

    Good god you need a mate that's mechanically minded for all these things you do lol! Those are Crimp Connectors. Grab a pair of Pliers if you don't have a Crimp Tool, and squash the metal bit that surrounds the wire when it's inserted into the connector. Bobs your uncle. If you'd like a little extra protection after that (which is good) wrap each connector and an inch worth of the wire with PVC Electrical Tape which will keep the water out of it.

    Just discovered your channel. Sorry bud. I know this is an old video now, but man, watching this was SO cringeworthy. Brave of you to upload it unless it was done so as a joke, but If you haven't done something before, find someone who has and learn from their experience. Personally, if none of my friends have the experience I seek, I check out a few RUclips videos and go with the consensus. NEVER base your learning on a single vid or as in this example, you may be the guy who ended up thinking this was the correct way to install a socket. For the record, I'd have ditched the angled crimp-on spade connectors and bought straight ones so I could feed the cable up through the hole to attach to the socket more easily, then wrap the connections in self-amalgamating tape and then electrical insulating tape to weatherproof them. I'd probably have used a hole cutter as well for a cleaner cut in the ABS plastic for the socket, but only after checking there was nothing to obstruct the back of the socket with the steering moved lock to lock (which I'm hoping you did first anyway).

    Old video I know and credit to you for uploading it but good grief that was a real dogs dinner of an install. Firstly those connectors are crimp connectors, setting light to them won't make a connection, straight crimps is what you needed and a crimping tool or at least a pair of pliers. Then when drilling the hole get a proper cutter of the correct size or a step drill, drilling multiple holes and filing the mess left behind is much harder and looks awful. You spent a lot on the kit a little more on the right tools would have been a better idea. "I'm not a professional" - no shit Sherlock.
