    Shaquille O’Neal is one of the NBA’s best big men of all time, and arguably the most dominant player to ever set foot on the court. The Diesel punished defenders in the post, using his unfair 7foot-1, 325 pound frame to score at will in the paint. His brute strength and uncanny athleticism made him a matchup nightmare for opposing teams.
    Today we're going to touch on the ONE player who could contain a prime Shaquille O'neal. Ending the Lakers Shaq and Kobe Bryant Era.
    We try our best to cover hot topics like los angeles lakers, kobe bryant, Shaq, shaquille o'neal funny moments, Orlando magic, Ben Wallace, ben wallace pistons, ben wallace vs shaq, ben wallace highlights. Teams like the Detroit Pistons along with ben wallace defense. Ben wallace blocks shaq. Shaquille o'neal highlights, shaq funny moments, shaq highlights. All things covering popular players like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Shaq, Zion, Magic Johnson, charles barkley, Draymond Green and others.

      4 out of the 5 rings Shaq "won" have an asterix due to the officiating, the only exception being the win vs the 76ers. Sabonis did a good job against him, but the refs would call ticky-tack fouls to give Shaq the help he needed. Shaq is one of the most over-rated players in NBA history.

    Here's the thing about Ben Wallace vs Shaq. Ben couldn't lock Shaq down, Shaq averaged something in the ballpark of 27 ppg in the 04 finals, but what he could do was be as effective at containing Shaq as a double team who were willing to foul out if it meant slowing him down. That was the difference. The thought of someone guarding Shaq one on one for a whole game was unthinkable starting in 2000, everyone always double teamed him. Larry Brown initially brought up double teaming him when they were strategizing for the finals, but it was Wallace himself who suggested that he'd do it alone so everyone else could focus their attention on containing the rest of the Lakers, who were used to having a 3-4 defensive scheme whenever Shaq was on offense. He literally did the job of 2 people so the rest of his defensive specialist team could contain everyone else. That's the ultimate in team basketball, as far as I'm concerned.

    Ben Wallace is the best defender of all time. Yes over Russell and Dikembe. His 4x DPOY are the most ever (in his best defensive year statistically he came in 2nd). He could bench 460 lbs, had a max vert of 40", was only 6'6 - 6'7 without shoes, or hair... but guys like Shaq, Tim Duncan, Nowitzki, Pao Gasol, legit 7 footers couldn't shoot over him?!!!! That’s not true Shaq avg 28-12 against all off Rodman’s team. You casual fans watch two videos on RUclips of him having a decent half where yes Pippen and MJ would come down to cut off Shaq which counts as a double team. You people are liars and don’t know anything about basketball. Shaq use to embarrass Rodman those are the facts. Shaq in Orlando in 94 avg less points against the Bulls then in 1995 when Rodman was on the team 🤣🤣🤣. He use to always have Rodman in foul trouble in the first half which is why Phil could only put Rodman and Wennginton as a double team with Pippen/MJ coming down to cut him off. Shaq also embarrassed Robinson/Rodman at the same time when he played for Spurs. It’s still one of the greatest things I ever watched on a basketball court. That’s why Rodman ran to Lakers with Shaq because he knew who daddy was. Don’t lie to these people loser!

    BW allowed the Pistons to play Shaq one on one, and he held Shaq to one bad game in the series. Shaq still lit the Pistons up, but a frustrated Kobe bryant shot the Lakers out of the series. BW is my favorite nba player of all time. In the 02-03 season he was an absolute monstrosity that could fire up a Pistons team that struggled to score points and turn them into a defensive juggernaut that blocked and stole everything. The 03-04 season was still pretty good for him individually, and the fact that the pistons won the championship, but 02-03 was the apex of BW career. BW overall career was hurt because it took teams so long to develop a niche for him. His time in Washington was essentially wasted, and he could've been better than he was had the Pistons picked him up earlier (or any defensive oriented team like the Pacers). He still helped teams defense by putting other guys in the right places, and making guys shoot over him, but by the time he was in Chicago he wasn't the same guy.
    02-03 though, the dude was a beast. I remember in the 03 ECF against the Nets where all of the bigs were holding onto him to try and send him to the line, and he jumped flat footed and reversed jammed with all of them hanging all over him. I can't ever find that play, but it kind of solidified what kind of physical specimen he was. 240 lb dude with a 460 lb bench and a 40" vertical. He was a shorter guy and used to smack his head on the backboard leaping up to get blocks.
    Both Shaq and BW were terrible FT shooters. Both would've helped their scoring averages considerably if they could shoot freethrows.

    I watched this nba finals between them and I have to disagree that wallace contained shaq. Although wallace played exceptional defense it was the overall team defense that made them beat lakers specially prince guarding kobe. A lot of times that prince guarded kobe and made him missed very important shots few minutes left in the game. It was also a bad decision for the lakers adding karl malone since he played at the post just like shaq. Everyone knows that its better to surround shaq with shooters instead of adding another post up player like malone.

    Key word contain. Big Ben was one hell of a defender. But if Kobe didn't want to take the crown that early and fed the ball down low and gave touches to GP and Malone, they would've won it. Kobe is one of the best ever, God rest his soul, but he also knows he blew that series for them with miss after miss. Pistons played the man by playing on Kobe wanting to be THE man.

    • @gob7116
      @gob7116 2 года назад

      @@terrellewilliams2188 Big Ben did a good job of denying Shaq his touches but if he got the ball, it was still around almost 60% makes or high 50s on both those losses to Ben from what I recall . Though I’d say that the Heat should’ve got 05 if Dwade didn’t get hurt, or if Eddie showed up at the very least on G6. In 07, as much as I love Eddie, he just wasn’t scoring as much as he needed to. Shaq lost motivation and slowed with his age until the quick resurgence in Phoenix.
