In this video he gives an introduction of himself, the machine he is cutting on, and shows you how to identify and map out inclusions by using immersion fluid and a flashlight on a rough gemstone before you begin faceting.

How much was it?
I was hoping there was a video like this of his. I get the feeling I have a new obsession coming on and probably a new interest in gems.
Thanks for sharing and hello from Brazil!
Amazing . I’ve been watching you all afternoon 💙🙏🏼🦋
That was a fun video to watch. I learned a lot and then it was over to soon. Thank you Steve. I can't wait to see more.

Thank you for watching
great video ty
Hi Steve! I bought a faceting machine because my girlfriend and I are avid rock hounders and want to turn some of our raw gems into jewelry. We quickly learned how difficult this will be but are very determined to educate ourselves. We’re looking into some books but your videos have helped immensely. If I gave you my email could you help me whenever I have questions? Again great videos! Very informative
Muito linda gema ♥️🇧🇷
Neat video, love it
You are awesome🙏☺️
Hello! Your post on imgur sent me! 👋😁
Thanks for stopping by our RUclips channel, too!
@@Moregems sir i have 3 stone same as to as
i will be attempting to cut quartz and to facet it. can i use a diamond stone or a whetstone made of carbide to do this? (they use these to sharpen knives)
Do you know anything about impact diamonds or diamond petrified cactus?
Love Tanzanite
Man the original is so beautiful clear color!!! I will buy a ring with the original color !!! Or maybe 2
Can you use snake oil to look inside of the stone
great videos. I picked up two amateur gemstone faceting books and I am getting ready to purchase a faceting machine. I have some history in the dental lab tech and I have always wanted to get into faceting. If one would ever like to pick up some tanzanite how many cuts do you think it would take to get proficient enough to pull off that kind of stone. I think my wife would love a new ring made of her birthstone color and some purple. Thanks again.
I think any stones look 10× better with inclusions in them. Perfectly clean and clear gems are stale and boring, they jus look like glass gems in a ring if not.
This one is for you!
This is why if I'm a cutter i would make an unique cutting that have some portion higher and pointy and looking a bit like a stone and nicely cuts combined still to have enough sparkle...and big
As you said that the large rough was orthorhombic and that you suggested being off by 10+/- degrees to avoid polishing issues regarding the C Axis ... I was wondering if the smaller tumbled stone would have to be approached the same way? How do you determine proper alignment in a stone that's had it's natural faces removed? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks for posting...love all your videos.
I will have to try this. The dicroscope or a polariscope may help to I.D. the c axis which we are trying to avoid. If the dicroic colors are strong enough we may be able to ID the “c” as it will show only one color.
Excellent nice
Hi great video! I just subscribe to you channel and thank you for creating a helpful guide towards new and experienced gem cutters. I’ve recently been gem mining and found many “garnets, tourmaline, Aqua marine, and Golden beryl gems” all found at Gem Mountain in North Carolina . I want to learn to cut them and bring out there true beauty. I’m still learning what types of gems there are but I’m hoping this Topaz gem you have is a similar cutting process to the gems I have

i just noticed the vault behind him. hell yeah! i wonder if his building was formerly an actual bank... that would be an amazing stroke of lucky circumstances if it was just a lucky score...
It was a bank at one time! :)
Great video Steve. Have you visited Sri Lanka? Would love to take you through the journey of gemstone in Sri Lanka. will be pleasure to meet such an experienced guy in gem industry.
I received a Vevor gem cutting setup for Christmas, and cannot wait to get started. I currently do not have a water dripping system. Where can I get one? Google keeps showing me yard watering systems lol
Try Kinsley north in Michigan
@Moregems looks like they are out of stock. I will probably just 3d print an elevation stand, and use a small bucket and install dripper hardware. At this point, it seems easier haha. But they have a TON of awesome items I'll be checking out! Thank you for the suggestion.
What do you do with the slurry in the bottom of the bowl? Can I buy some
Jim Larimar? As in the mineral pectolite larimar? :)
Good video sir
Thank You
Hi..Steve 🤗 : Csn you cut "Star Cut " on Sapphire s .....thx🙏
Not sure exactly the cut you are referring to. I would say yes.
Under the light, it appears to have air bubbles on it. I will check back later. First time here, and you already got my Like
I want to ask. How to know that the stone is price less how will you check is genuine
No question about it being genuine just from the crystal structure but as to the nature of the color it cannot be proven that there are no treatments. It was a new find and was available from multiple sources all stating the same that it was natural. My source is someone I have known for 35 years and is to be trusted.
is there someone who can help me facet my gemstone? located in angeles city.. if interested pls reply will give information about fee and the work.
Trimaksih dulur2 subscribe nya

Hi
I have noticed problems when it comes to selling cut stones. The “buyers” are not even looking at the rocks much less any variety. They mostly rape the gold if any and ignore the rocks completely
Da đẹp của bác ơi 💯💯💯👍❤️❤️❤️
Im heer now look you're video the diamond
That safe is no joke
How did I miss this last year!!!!! Ima have to watch the rest of the series this weekend. This video reminded me a few years back you showed a large quartz you were gonna cut into a huge faceted stone. Did you ever cut it? Here is the clip ruclips.net/video/9M4F7V_SWAM/видео.html
Yes see it on RUclips. How are gemstones cut. Quartz Faceting
I appreciate the history lesson but I wish you would cut the stones while you do it. Thank you
Cutting takes focus risky to cut and teach.
@@Moregems ignorance is bliss! 🙄🤦♂😂
I can carve almost anything into a stone but I don't think I could facet. Too many straight lines for me.
