    Doubt..🙋‍♂️-as the liver has Glut-2 glucose transporter....and glut 2 is independent of insulin...then how does the DM causes lipogenisis,where the glucose can be uptaken by liver through a passive process...!!??🤔🤔

      Glucose uptake by liver is possible but other cells of body which transport through insulin dependent transporter can't get sufficient glucose

    Sir if oxaloacetate is depleted and tca cycle cannot occur so acetyl coA is diverted towards ketone body synthesis then how during ketone body utilization can acetyl coA give 20 ATP by entering into tca cycle if tca cycle is not even operating?

    Sir if tca cycle is not happening then how in energetics from two molecules of acetyl coa 20 atp is forming. There is lack of Oxaloacetate and the main reason for ketone bodies synthesis is diversion of tca cycle due to unhandling of acetyl coa by tca cycle?

    At 10.06 u say that 1 ATP is utilised but where??
    And when succinyl CoA converts into succinate 1 GTP is formed which inturns form ATP , so why r u not calculating it

    Thank you so much for this explanation! I am doing a paper on the keto diet's effects on cellular respiration and I notice you mention only starvation and uncontrolled diabetes as conditions that induce the synthesis and utilization of ketones. Is it the same process for someone eating a diet of say no more than 20g of carbohydrates a day to induce ketosis?

    You started with TWO acetyl COA molecules and ended up with TWO acetyl COA molecules, already excess acetyl COA leads to ketone production but in the end of the ketone utilization process acetyl COA concentration remains the same , HOW THIS WORKS ?

      In starvation, glucose in the body is low. So glycolysis does not occur, because there is no glucose to be broken down. So no pyruvate is formed and as a result OAA which is derived from pyruvate by action of Pyruvate carboxylase is not formed. Hence there is insufficiency of OAA and acetyl CoA cannot enter TCA cycle so it goes into ketogenesis.

      Acetyl CoA is completely oxidised into 2CO2 in TCA cycle

    Acetoacetate to beta OH butyrate is occurring in the presence of beta OH butyrate dehydrogenase but there is addition of hydrogen occur but sir you use dehydrogenase , i hope u answer this question.
