@@RepairGang Hello. I have a troy bilt pony 7 speed 42" 2015 model.I replaced the deck belt with an OEM Mtd and I noticed that the deck idler bracket and pulley moves up/down rapidly when the blades are engaged. What could possibly cause this? So far I have ordered a new bracket because I noticed the hole was wallowed out a bit and I've ordered the new metal hat washer that sits down in the hole. I know that the assembly has to move but the up/down motion is causing vibration throughout the mower.

Your pine cone made me remember buying one of my neighbors riders years ago. Almost new but it kept breaking belts. It was fine in our yard. Used it for about 10 years. If he would have just done something with all the sweet gum balls he wouldn't have needed to go get him a new John Deere. I only gave him a hundred for a one year old mower. Exactly what he asked me for it.

I've found a big reason for the belt popping off the tensioner pulley is the pulley is straight out on the lever. It should be angled more in the direction of the crank pulley when the deck is all the way down. I bent the pulley bracket and haven't broken a belt since.
