- It's almost a year since the DJI Mavic Air 2 (store.dji.com/product/mavic-a...) arrived on the shelves, but is there really a DJI Air 2S on its way, and what might it bring to the table?

I'm crossing my fingers that they would make a compatible motion controller for the Air 2S! I saw one on the DJI FPV and it's such a badass thing to have! Just imagine that on the Air 2S or even on the Mini 2!
It would be very cool if this controller was multi-drone indeed! We'll see!
@@Droning-ON Can't wait
Nice sensible update as always Ash 👍👍
The Air 2 has always been, for me, the most versatile of all the DJI drones! If they're releasing a newer version of this drone then it's definitely worth upgrading!
Completely agree, the Air 2 is perhaps their best drone to date!
@@Droning-ON Are you going to get it as soon as it launches?
Great video ash thanks for the info
Pleasure buddy!
I like how make it short and to the point 👌
Thanks buddy, some RUclipsrs love the sound of their own voices and waffle on for 30 minutes about one topic, which actually can be summarised in 5 minutes 😎
Thanks for the update! I'll be waiting for more leaks on the Air 2S! I'm seriously hoping it would be a good drone!
You'll definitely find those latest leaks here, thanks for the comment!
@@Droning-ON So what would you suggest? Air 2S or FPV?
Both for different purposes, depends on what you want to achieve dude.
My mavic Air 2 delivers on Monday so I requested them to return it and I will wait. Why spend 950£ on what will now be an older model
I'm hoping it's that. A label to stick over my air two sticker to bring it up to date with the new regs
This label on its own would be a great upgrade!
My guess with my sometimes faulty crystal ball, Is that DJI being added to the naughty list in the US has made the few parts made in the US in the current MA2 impossible to source. So they have had to make a redesign to allow them get around this problem. SO I am not expecting much to change.
Great insight - into a very small pool of information. Time will tell...
Thanks matey, agreed with little out there right now there isn't much to talk about!
If it supports goggles I will buy it, the mavic air 2 never got the goggle support they promised. Flying using goggles is far better than a phone screen or even a tablet.
you can use an EPSON BT-300 smart glasses to get FPV view, not a immersive one, but you can see what’s around you and also the drone while watching the video from the camera.
Great video. I have to say though that the Mini 2 is a major update to Mini, with 4K video, better fly performance, superior connection system, the ability to shoot quick shots in 4K and the fact that you can adjust more things in settings. As a Mavic Mini owner I think that Mini 2 should be the initial product and I feel a bit tricked by DJI but well...DJI is DJI I suppose :-)
Very nice video!!!I agree 👍 with you. The bigger sensor and upward sensor, it will drain the battery much quicker so how the 34 minutes will still stand? For me that I haven't got any drone in a few years, I will wait to see! Thanks for the video again. Keep up the good work. Cheers
sensors and camera drains 5% from batery max
I agree with you, not enough evidence yet. But if a new drone come it will be good I think. Even bigger sensors maybe, even longer range and some other fun functions. Great video as always Ash
Thanks DroneInNature, agreed although the current Air 2 is so good that this incremental upgrade may just not be worthwhile for most.
A lot of people talk about the 0.5 inches sensor on MA2, but the mini 2 is not far behind as its sensor is 0.43 inches!
Id say the Air 2 is better than the mini 2 cuz it got easier-to-change replaceable propellers, more flight-fun options (more flight modes, active track, hyperlapse) and more stable when flying (as it is heavier).
Mini 2 is good cuz can be recharged with a powerbank, weight much less, you can set gimbal speed and less noisy.
Anyway, I believe either drone is good as long as you have the money for, but if MA2S comes out, itll be nice for sure. But I think the big changes will be on the new Mavic Pro 3.
I think it will have a few things on it that will be tempting, but not sure I will part with the monies on this one
Agreed, this will one to skip I suspect like many mobile phone generations, skip every other :)
I remember after the MA2 came out, there was talk about a new model coming out. I waited for that model thinking it would be like the MA2 just more advanced. Well, the new model came out and I didn't like it. So, I purchased the MA2, because after all. I think it's the best Mavic out. I do wish that it will be an advance version of the MA2. I really can't wait to see what it's like, but then again. I got excited for nothing the last time. Let's just see. Thanks for the video. 👍👍👍
With the global pandemic there has been a significant tightening of electronic components in supply chains. Could the Air 2S just be a new aircraft with similar performance but slightly different parts?
dji mavic air 2 S would be cool!
Definitely, we shall see!
I suspect the same Ash, probably a different color like they did with the original Mavic Pro, e.g. a Silver, or white color version. "S" could be for "Super" so anywhere the Air 2 lacks, that's where the difference might be. Side Sensors, bigger camera Sensor. In any event hope the Air 2 sees an updated firmware too, e.g. zoom photo abilities, improved waypoints, etc. Seems most comments here are also hopeful for the same, - Squeaky wheel gets the grease!
Speaking of the smart controller it is very expensive and they need to do a better job letting us use it on more drones! I am really hoping the Mini 2 will be able to use it as well they already screwed us on the crystal sky not having updates they dont care pretty much have a monopoly on the drone market
Wishlist for Air 2 S:
- 360 Degree sensors (Practically speaking side sensors are WAY more important than upward sensors),
- Waypoints (even Sub $200 drones have waypoints that work well),
- RemoteID ( for Future proofing),
- OC3 (Why not..if it improves latency, bit rate, etc and doesn't consume more battery than OC2),
- Longer flight time ("True" 34minutes not the fake 34 mins on the box),
- Larger sensor
Sensors not needed really. What I would like to see also other than 1" camera, is the capability for using the V2 Googles.
I think after the new regs that started this year they should be offering a c marked drone for us. Who is going to buy another legacy drone 1.6 years aways from the end of the transitional period. Its been made quite clear on henriks chennel and drone emotion it hasn't got a c mark.it was on my radar until this was mentioned and I'm sure alot of popple will agree we all haven't got room for an air 2 an air 2s and then when they do bring a marked drone out another one 🤣. I hope I pray this does come with one. But upgrades are a good direction to head in if its a first drone for someone new. Thanks for the info 👍
Mavic air 2s compatible with Fpv goggles v2 a must to buy.
You wish, lol
A very well-known reviewer in Germany (over 100k subscribers) has already announced that there is something new in the coming weeks and it goes into the air.
He is well known with the people of DJI.
... and he said, it will be awesome :). He is a serious guy. So, let's be excited. I expect a big step forward.
Out of curiosity, what's this reviewers name? Indeed there might be a 2S on its way but it's unlikely to appeal to Air 2 owners.
@@Droning-ON His name is "Reveal Rabbit"
@@andreasac9769 ah yes, we shall see!
@@Droning-ON I hope, it will not be a FPV version of Air2 😂
One year ago I know that this could happen and send my new AIR2 back to DJI. Im very sure that the real reason for the AIR 2S is the new EU restriction (since 31.12 2020). No one in the hole EU will buy the normal AIR2 anymore (until the AIR3 will arrive in 2023) because of its 500g+ and its restrictions to the very bad A3 category.
So DJI is forced (if they want sell "mid class drones" in the EU) to bring a new Version of the AIR 2 to get a C1 certification with very low restrictions.
I think, we will see only settle updates (newer version of the sensor, air sence also in the EU, maybe OC 3.0 with fpv support) ...but it would be a dream if DJI would fix theit biggest mistake (beside the 500g+) and give the bird side sensors for better tracking/follow me.
I’m still waiting for the Mavic pro 2. Lol
I wonder if the Air 2s would have the classification stamp on it for the UK/EU when released? Also I do think it's more than possible that's it could have reduced weight and some small changes.
10bit!!!
Yes please!
S stands for... ? Who said ocusync 3 is not backwards compatible
Regarding the Smart Controller. I was told by a leading Australian dealer that he had heard suggestions that the current model might be about to be upgraded with a more powerful chip. That could explain the reason that here at least, most dealers have sold out of the SC and are expecting deliveries some time in April. If these suggestions are true, it might well include Ocusync 3 to go with an updated version of the Air 2.
Even the Air 2 would be perfect for what I need. The only thing it misses is the EASA certification. If this refresh doesn’t have it’s most definitely dead on arrival in Europe.
Yes, the EASA element is a challenge, let's hope that it arrives marked with it!
Air 2 wishes : larger camera sensor , more sensor directions. Fix cracking problem.
Cracking problem?
Which cracking issue do you mean? Large camera sensor isn't really necessary, the Air 2 has a great camera already with its half inch sensor! Definitely sideways sensing would be good!
Crack issue: there are multitudes of videos and photos of the air 2 unit cracking on the back frame right over the hinging mechanism of the rotating extensions for the props. I have not had that problem with my unit. However there are hundreds of photos and videos showing cracks around the frame where the legs and cells rotate. It was suggested to me that that occurs when you snap the battery in with the drone sitting on the ground. I’ve also heard it said that not unfolding your product causes excessive vibration. Once again I have not experienced this problem but it seems to be fairly systemic
With your contacts, and the resources that you have access to through your many subscribers. Although I feel it would be a daunting task, this could be one heck of a research and disclosure video. Your videos are always great 👍🏻
I hope not, because I just bought my air 2 yesterday 😂
I bought mine 2 months ago but I'm still angry bro they are gonna forget the normal Air 2 now and won't even release updates for it
send it back ;)
Return it
In all honesty, this 2S will appear within 4 weeks, so send back the Air 2.
@@Droning-ON I bought it last week, but after I heard this news I sent it back.. off-course I didn’t fly it all!
How big a difference is ocusync 3 over 2?
Should be no range improvement only latency and Bitrate
Latency, bitrate and range, so quite significant but for most consumers no difference really noticeable.
Unfortunately, the rumors confirmed what I had long ago written on the official site of DJI: The feeling that the mavic air 2 has been "abandoned". No new features for a drone that costs 1,000 euros! Not even what has already been given to the newer Mini 2 (Photo Zoom, and the new feature with RTH).
If the rumors are true it will be an unacceptable action against the buyers of mavic air 2.
The devaluation of the product and its value!
And all this to offer the supposed new drone with controversial features ...
As with the osmo pocket 2. I hope buyers do not follow them ....
ehm, what do you miss on MA2? This is just progress, you cannot complain about them doing something new. You still have updates on MA2.
@@MD.media01 & Black Ink
It is completely unacceptable for me, DJi to offer features with constant updates, for the mini 2, a drone with a price of 600 euros and not to give the same features to a drone of 1000 euros and with only 1 year of life.
This means "abandonment" and indifference for buyers, but if the rumors are confirmed, it will be like a "s*&t as#@$ole" situation, because they will try to sell us as "new" features that they should have already given to mavic air 2.
@@MD.media01
Photo Zoom, and the new feature with RTH, where are they ?
15/04/2021
That will require an announcement from DJI today as there's normally a week's notice! We'll see!
@@Droning-ON I received invitation from the dealer in my country for new drone , thats why i wrote that date :)
@@binsuwaif nice, can you forward it to ash@droningon.co please?
@@Droning-ON yaa
These drones have become Apple devices actually I take that back they become Samsung devices.
Every year a new one comes out and the old one drops in price by half so for you to say not to hold your breath that's exactly what you have to do you don't want to get stuck with an old one that's worth half the price
I think this air 2s is the downgrade version from ma2 force by regulation
Don’t scold other people for stating their opinions. Like your channel, but this whole video was about being a drone information cop.
No, its about misinformation and kerbing the spread of it. It's about ensuring that consumers know the full facts about what is and isn't known.
@@Droning-ON It came across that all the other channels are lying and there was no way they had information that you didn’t have. I would just let them say what they want. People in the end know who was right without you even saying anything once the new version hits the market.
@@glengrayban3004 absolutely not the intention, but people referring to "my source tells me this" doesn't really mean much. There's no argument that there is something new coming, it's on the FCC so therefore we know that something is coming, but we just don't know what yet :)
