  • In this video, we compare the repairability of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro. We look at how easy it is to replace the screen and battery on both phones, as well as the repairability restrictions imposed by their software. We also compare the costs of repairs for each phone.
    We walk you through the screen and battery replacement process for both phones, highlighting the differences in ease of repair and tools required. We also discuss the quality of replacement parts and where to source them.
    We examine the repairability restrictions imposed by the software on both phones, including how easy it is to access the internal components for repairs and whether the software restricts certain repairs or forces users to visit authorized repair centers.
    Lastly, we compare the cost of repairs for both phones, showing you the cost breakdown for each repair and comparing the overall cost of ownership for both phones.

    I've been in the repair business (owning a repair shop) since 2012 and i feel like adding my own experience to your conclusion.... I think there is actually a difference between fixing your own phone at home or really talking about smartphone reparability at a larger scale (business side). iPhone used to be much easier to repair back in the days, but since at least 4-5 years, Samsung made their phone much, MUCH easier to repair (starting with S8 series). Just by the fact that you can buy 100% original parts (Service Pack) from authorized Samsung distributors without being an authorized Samsung repair center (as long as you have a valid repair business), this is a game changer for a repair business. If you just want to fix your own screen, iPhone might be cheaper (if you use an aftermarket screen)... But try to change a charging port or a back glass for exemple... MUCH easier / affordable on a Samsung ! Regarding that, i think Samsung are way more repairable than iPhone...

      I am in the repair business as well and this was SPOT ON. I have to get soo many different tools just to repair an iPhone only for it to tell me that its not a genuine part. And with each repair you lose something very important. Samsung is same experience as day 1. The process is fun for me because i like disecting the device. The risk to reward on the Samsung is also great compared to risk breaking tbe screen on the iPhone just to get to the battery. Not to mention if i put back a screw in the wrong place.

    imma be honest, I think samsung has to take the W here, not all samsung parts are expensive, and virtually nothing is married to the board. I have an S9 that I have repaired multiple times (excluding the display) all the parts, including charging port is cheap to buy, and very modular. even the fingerprint scanner on the back can be replaced without having any issues. that being said, the fact that apple put so much effort into preventing you from attempting repair, should have given them an automatic L.

      this right here

    • @PvtAnonymous
      @PvtAnonymous 9 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry, but Samsung phones are not modular at all. If something like your ambient light sensor breaks -> soldering. Screen breaks -> get a new frame along with it. Fingerprint breaks -> get a new screen. Some models even have soldered on charge ports which is really annoying. And taking out batteries from anything other than the S23 series is a nightmare. I'd rather repair a phone that has a million screws but separate components. I don't know why this trend of unifying components has been running rampant in the Android world. So many manufacturers try to put parts together for no apparent reason, it's become really annoying.

    • @niggachad_1
      @niggachad_1 8 месяцев назад +4

      @@PvtAnonymous you can change the on screen fingerprint scanner without changing the screen, the only time you need to buy a new one is when the screen get too damage around the fingerprint area, my old phone screen a 2 cracks cracked on the finger print area but still works. The only samsung that had a soldered charging port was the s10 models and your mostlikely never repaired a phone by yourself to say batteries are only hard to remove ob samsung before the s23. Iphones also used hard glue, whuch to remove both you need prying tools. So you comment is bias because all the thing you mentioned are false or only happen in 1 or 2 old samsung phones

    • @PvtAnonymous
      @PvtAnonymous 8 месяцев назад

      @@niggachad_1 seems like you never repaired a phone. Link me to a replacement of a fingerprint reader for an S23 Ultra for example, I'll wait. Only budget models have a replaceable reader, the same ones that have cheap screens anyway. It is pretty well known across the repair industry, that Samsung uses the worst glue for their batteries. You need heat AND isopropyl to even have a chance of getting it out in one piece without damaging the BMS. iPhones never used hard glue, they always had pull tabs and never put metal frames around the battery (only Samsung does that!), so prying is no issue, even if the pull tabs break. Just face it man, everyone I know hates repairing Samsung phones. That's just 20+ people in my company alone. In my friends company it's pretty much the same plus ten times worse because being Samsung certified is like being an AASP on steroids (in terms of control). This is why no one wants to become Samsung certified lmao

  • @nathansharma87

    even though iPhones are more complicated to repair due to all the different screws and software messages I must say that it is the best phone to repair. Reason is that only iPhone has a lot of parts available online unlike Samsung. A good competitor for repair is Fairphone but that one is literally made to be repaired. For me part availability and pricing is more important than how easy it is to repair. Technically there is nothing to compare.

      @Chikan_8 A battery health feature is a feature that tells you how 'healthy' your battery is. For example if your phones battery is dying fast, you can go to settings, battery and click on battery health. When it's lower then 70% it will show you a notification that it's time to service aka change the battery😊

    Hey, I have a question. I know you really just repair devices but I was wondering if you would maybe look into why my laptop is going super extra slow? It’s a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 running Intel i5 with 8GB of ram and has 1TB of SSD storage. It was bought nearly 3 years ago if memory serves me right. And after only a year or so it started running super slow. And I can’t figure out why. It loads super slow and loads any app super slow too. Taking upwards of a minute or more. And more often than not when I open up Chrome, after just a few seconds everything loads slow and navigation is even slower

    I am in the repair business as well. And i only need 1 screw driver. And a heat gun to repair anything with Samsung vs needing about 5 different screwdrivers and 6 other devices for an iPhone repair

    I don’t really care how hard it is to repair iPhone or any apple products because I absolutely love apple and all, ok most, of their stuff (Not rlly the manic mouse or keyboard) but also I take so much care of my care of my stuff and my MacBook, well I clean it with isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide a good bit to keep it clean looking and replace screen protectors on my phone very often so it doesn’t break. I really do this so I don’t have to pay for apple to repair it AND also because it’s just an inconvenience to not have any of my stuff cus it’s in for repairs

    Personally id choose samsung because
    You dont need different screws
    The parts arent locked to the device
    You dont loose features for modding the phone
    You can also install custom roms to make it faster
    You dont have to open any side mounted screws (inside the phone)
    No offence to apple users im an apple user myself
