No exactamente tenía rota esa parte. Planchas estufas, etc

    I love fixing things. My electric leaf blower was failing, and it turned out the variable speed switch was going bad. Instead of spending $120 on a new one, I ordered the part ($19), watched a youtube video, and fixed it in about 40 minutes.
    Same type of thing with my garage door spring (saved $200), my clothes dryer ($8 for a thermal fuse and 15 minutes, saving me hundreds), my obsolete garage door opener motor (just bought someone's good one off of ebay for $65), saving me about $350, fixed my $400 gas lawn mower that wasn't starting after sitting all winter (just cleaned the carb tube with a $3 can of carb cleaner and did the same with my expensive power washer) and on and on and on.
    It's really cool and satisfying to do things like this as long as the effort doesn't cost more than the item is worth.

Companies are so corrupt these days just building things to make harder to fix so you just buy the next best model harder to fix.

    I lived in Colombia South America for 8 years. Small appliance repair shops are everywhere. Including shops that sell every part to repair a blender, for example. The downside to this is that the people earn very little money and work on a contract basis. Contracts of one week to yearly revolving ones. When they earn more money (including repairmen) they will throw that blender away and buy another new one. Much cheaper and less hassel to by a cheap mass produced blender than to fix that blender. It happened in the US after 1975 or so hopefully it will happen to them.

    • @kenshinflyer
      @kenshinflyer 6 месяцев назад +5

      I think that's not vinyl, that's gasket material (similar to or equivalent of Bellumoid). They come in rolls, and it allows you to make any gasket you want, especially if the gasket is out of stock or no longer made. Though, to be honest, I've never seen gasket material that thick before.

      Nah probably not real soon,
      Down in Yemen I took my outboard to have some repairs done and the head gasket was changed with kinda same material too.
      It held for a good 6 years till I replaced it when serviced it again, because why not!
      It could've done 1 or 2 more years if left.

Only thing I had to change on it was the door seals. Oh and a respray on the paint. Was that hideous “hospital green” colour. I had sprayed gloss black and had the chrome trimmings redone.
