- Welcome to Gulhi Island and to A&A Travelling. Gulhi is the closest inhabited island to Malé airport in South Male Atoll, on the way to Maafushi Island. It takes 30 minutes by speeboat from
Male the capital. This small beautiful island offers most of the things you need to have a wonderful stay in the Maldives. This unique and authentic island has some guest houses and is one of the best budget options to explore and experince in the real Maldives.
ATM - there is no ATM on the island, so just make sure you have enough cash with you. Most of the guest houses acept Credit Cards, but you will have to pay a fee. US Dollar is also very welcome on the Maldivian islands.
Gulhi is located 21 km south of Velana International Airport, and it can be reached either by a public ferry or speedboat.
Public Ferry
It costs 3 USD per way per person, and the trip takes 80 minutes.
Male-Guhli ( Villingili Ferry Terminal) at 15:00. Gulhi_male at 08:00
NB! note that there are no ferry services on Fridays and Monday
Speedboat
The price is 25 USD - 30USD
Male - Gulhi: 8:30 am, 11:30 am (on friday 10:30 am), 14:00 (on friday 14:30) and 16:30
Gulhi - Male: 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 14:00 and 16:00
The locals are very friendly and welcome visitors to their paradise. The main economic activity in the island is fishing.
Activities
There are many things to do to affordable prices. You can go night fishing, Dolphin watching, sandbank picnic, visit a luxury resort, surfing (May-October), scuba diving..
Food
There are some popular local cafes where vsitors can taste local cuisines and refreshing drinks. In general the guests mostly prefer to eat in the guest houses, where the chefs prepare local and international food.
Breakfasts are simply delicious in the guest houses. Fresh fruit salads, coffee/tea, toasts, pancakes, omelettes and don`t forget to try the traditional Maildivian Roshi & Mashuni.

A very beautiful island to visit for family holiday. The water looks so pure and refreshing for snorkeling. There are many birds in the air. It's really a fun beach to relax.
