- Mogadishu was once the most beautiful city in all of Africa, with Italian and Arab influence. Somali architect AbdulFatah Adam shares his vision of how Somalia can regain its former glory. As Mogadishu emerges from decades of conflict, AbdulFatah says it is important to understand culture when building infrastructure.

4:47 never hear Portuguese ever controlling or doing peaceful business with Mugadisho - Portuguese, not just about Mugadisho, were pirates and more like thugs who did nothing good but loot things they could take and destroy assets they could not take with them. I stopped listening him at that minute mark. the guy needs to read more and learn more how Portuguese killed and destroyed African cities and Indian cities as well. He gave all that city’s old glory to non Native Africans? e.g Arabs? Persians? Turkey? +
Portuguese? What were native Somali/Mogadishu doing at that time? were they just being used as servant to those outsiders? I just want to know?
The native somalis controlled the region but there strategic location meant most trading good across the world went through them which brought an infux of people across the world to settle and trade there people from different region of the world where place in separate district with the ruling aristocrats being the somalis there backing came from there normad clan affiliations out side the city who would deal with commerce from inland africa where they would get the raw materials used for trade such as ivory, gold ect.
