  • This video will explain how to resolve the 'dripping coffee' issue and similar problems that may occur after the 'Descale' and 'Tray Full' LEDs have been flashing alternately. To stop the LEDs flashing, you shall have to turn your Saeco off and then back on.
    The LED state meant in this video is that the 'Thermostat' LED is ON, and the LEDs mentioned above are flashing alternately at a fast pace.
    This particular state means the 'maximum torque on the brew unit has been exceeded and the brewing cycle cannot continue'. It is usually caused by using inappropriate coffee beans or by having set the grind density too fine for the used coffee melange.
    Another cause prominently present in the list of possible causes for this issue is that the BREW UNIT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED FREQUENTLY ENOUGH. This should happen at least once a week if you use the machine to make up to 2 cups a day. Any quantities in excess of this would imply an even higher cleaning frequency.
    In my case, it turned out the coffee beans were unsuited for 'fully automatic coffee machines', because they were very fatty (they gave my hands an unpleasant fatty sensation after holding on to them).
    Turns out the use of these kinds of beans is discouraged in the service manual, but Saeco omitted this statement from the publicly available USER Manual.
    Please note that this video DOES NOT focus on issues such as a blocked grinder. They are represented by a different state on the front panel of the machine, and, furthermore, the steps involved in reversing/resolving issues such as a blocked grinder require you to take the machine apart. As I am not a qualified technician, I feel I am the wrong person for you to explain the proceedings of disassembling an entire coffee machine. Sorry.
    For those of you who DO have this issue - hope this video will help you!

    I am a hardcore espresso addict and my machine has been down for several weeks. I tried everything I could think of and nothing was working. Even after cleaning the screen, and doing the steam out process, it still was not pumping out coffee. This was the first post I saw that mentioned unplugging the machine for 24 hours. After plugging it back in, it worked like magic! Thanks a ton!!

    This solved my problem completely. My machine had got to the point where it would produce less than a teaspoon of liquid and then give up on each use. Now it's back to normal. Thanks.

    Thx for the response. I found the problem. There is a small plastic tube in the upper left corner that connects to the brewer-this was cracked off and stuck inside the brewer. I managed to remove the tube from the brewer and crazy glued it back to where it belongs. It worked!

    thanks for this - i've got a giro plus, basically the same machine with a couple of extra features, and i followed the procedure - result, everything works perfectly again and the coffee flavour has noticeably improved. in addition to what you showed, i also cleaned the holes out in the plastic part that is below the S/S screen (i found a tiny screwdriver that fitted perfectly). i can't say it was necessary, but it seemed a good idea at the time and can't do any harm.
    once again many thanks

    @biaggioism Good to hear that it now works again. I already thought, judging by the fact that the procedure mentioned in this video didn't solve your issue, that you might have had a different cause at hands. Indeed, the first thing that sprung to mind was one of the tubes or hoses being disconnected or ruptured. Glad you can now return to enjoying your coffee to the fullest.

    Worked a treat, thanks, but not so easy to get the piston out. The small top valve (called grey unit here) has to come off first. Mine was secured with two hex screws. Take note of which way it sits BEFORE taking it off and be careful -once off, it exposes a spring and ball in the piston unit that can fall out. The piston unit has four little lugs that then have to pushed in to the sides so the piston can drop out to the bottom. Very frustrating job, like these machines. Auto grinders suck!

    Seems like something may be wrong with a hose or valve. At least the pressure isn't quite right on the steam rod. Have you tried opening, then closing that? If that doesn't do the trick, you might have to take the machine itself apart and check if all the hoses and valves are fit for purpose. It seems the closure valve for the steam rod isn't working properly (as in: you cannot properly close the tap at the moment).

    @Serty161 The reason for me to make this video in the first place was because I had no Saeco degraser at hand. We probably all know that degraser the is better option over baking soda. However, if nothing else is handy, no harm is done in using baking soda. And besides, my own filter wouldn't even admit water at the time, so that's why I'm showing the disassembly instructions... Thanks for the tip anyway.

    @biaggioism Unfortunately, you may be suffering from congestion elsewhere in the trajectory. I'd suggest you to try and prime the machine (place a container under the steam spout and open the tap (knob at the top) for a fewseconds, until a steady stream flows) and/or do a full steam out (press steam button, then place container under steam spout and open the tab for some time). after that, have the machine rinse itself (leave it off for an hour, then turn it on) a few times. Then try (…) (1/2)

    Hello, very detailed video, thanks fro the effort. I have suffer from different Odea Go problem and so fat can't find any answer.
    When I press brewing button I can hear that coffee is grinding and motor is working until cofee is grinded. Once grinding stops and machine is suppose to go to next cycle where it presses coffee, adds water and starts brewing it stops and I get red light flashing. Pumping is not starting and grounded coffee goes to waste bin without used.
    This was not always problem, when I buy the machine after couple of months started to happen every 10 shot coffee, than later by the time it became frequent problem. Now it is not possible to make a coffee. Do you have any possible idea about this ?

    My machine doesn't allow selecting grinding quantities; the only thing the dial on the Odea Go does when turned is actually adjusting the amount of water used to brew the coffee. If that is indeed your problem, and thus you are able only to brew with the smallest quantity of water, you could try cutting the power for an hour at least. Then try repeating the steam-off cycle again. Does the machine produce any out-of-place noise at all whilst brewing coffee?

    @Serty161: Nice tip. Perhaps this makes the whole operation a bit more accessible for less daring users, because disassembly of the entire filter unit isn't without its risks, as I have pointed out. Would you post a video response showing how it's done? I'll authorise it, so that users may go through to it and choose which procedure to go by. I haven't yet needed a second go, and this vid is 9 months old. So I hope I'll be able to carry on for some while before needing to do it again...

    In my case, it wasn't necessary to actually disassemble the grey unit. I think, however that your assumption is right. It's quite a shame that you've forgotten how the unit was assembled. Especially as I can't really assist you with this, as, like I've said before, I didn't need to disassemble it completely in my case...

    My machine was producing weak stream of coffee from spout, with most of coffee falling into drip tray + coffee pucks a bit on the wet side-
    Tried solution in vid...filter was quite dirty
    When I reassembled and tried it, coffee stream was weaker still.
    I figured I may have done something wrong on reassembly so I took it apart + tried it again...now it does not produce any coffee at all, xcept in the drip or waste pan. Did this occur to you guys?
    Any suggestions?

    A friend bought a new saeco and wanted to trow this one away (Odea giro). I took it home and cleaned it, also with help of this viedeo, thank you.
    But there is more going on. When it makes coffee water is spraying out of the steamer at the same time. Any ideas what to do?

      Try descaling your steamer. That usually helps me. When I see that my steamer wand is dripping when coffee is brewing, I see the descaling light come on a few days after. Hope this helps!

    @ginagi1000 I had cleaned the machine the week before I added the video. I haven't had any problems since. Please keep in mind that problems such as the one described in this vid CAN be caused by using unsuitable coffee blends, so continued usage of these may cause the problem to reappear in due time. However, I did NOT have any problem whatsoever after this cleaning cycle. If you feel you do, there may be an issue where one of the hoses is actually ruptured. Let me know how you fared...

  • @slashtiger1
    @slashtiger1  13 лет назад

    @biaggioism (2/2) again, preferably with a different blend. If this doesn't work, I fear yours may be a more serious issue: one of the internal hoses may be damaged. In that case, the solution shown in this vid will not help you. I can assure you I did it when I made the vid and haven't had to do it since. Could it be you use flavoured coffee blends, or caramelised coffee? They tend to cause issues like these…

    Can you tell me how to fix leak / drip problem through the steam nozzle?

    • @slashtiger1
      @slashtiger1  6 лет назад

      Do you mean occasional dripping after you've made a cup of coffee? Ore consistent leakage during preparation? In case of the latter, you might have to get down and dirty, because you will have to check each and every one of the hoses inside the machine...
      Unfortunately, I cannot post a video on how to do it, because my Odea died 2 years ago... The compressor was lifeless... Unfortunately, that proved to have been a fatal failure. After a good 14 years of service, it was time for the machine to be replaced...

    • @Febabl
      @Febabl 6 лет назад

      Yes, dripping after making a cup of coffee! Dripping constant water through the steam nozzle. I have no idea how to stop. A shame to have lost your Odea Go.

    • @slashtiger1
      @slashtiger1  6 лет назад

      Ah... You already tried priming your machine, I presume? By priming, in this case, I mean heating the steam outlet, as if you were to make a cappuccino, and then just opening the tap after heating it, This can alleviate blockages in the system. Although if you've never (yet) used your machine to prepare beverages containing milk, then that shouldn't be a problem in the first place.
      This does, however, indicate that there may be a problem where the circuit is under too much pressure, or that a seal or gasket is starting to give out. Have you noticed it getting worse over time?
      As for the loss of my Odea, yes, that certainly was a shame. This video was made after I experienced the first real issue. I had tried many things to eradicate it when I finally decided to call the Saeco customer service (which, at the time, was stil operated by Saeco itself; not by Philips). I explained that I had had the machine for about nine years, so warranty was out of the question, and I then went on to describe my problem and whether there would eventually be something that I could do. The people on the other end then sent me a procedure from the service manual aimed at trouble shooting, which I had to execute. After that, they found the issue was caused by what is shown here in this video, and they went on to explain to me how to resolve it...
      Unfortunately, in the case of the compressor having failed completely, I figured that the machine was finally beyond repair, after having served me well for more than 14 years...

  • @slashtiger1
    @slashtiger1  13 лет назад

    @ginagi1000 How did my procedure work out for you? I can confirm once more that I didn't have a return of the issue since applying it to my own machine - saved me €70 ($101) investigation charges, excluding eventual repair costs. So I certainly profited from it. Hope you do as well - let me know.
