Thank you for justifying my childhood frustration struggling to win Neopets Solitaire. Not only is normal solitaire so often unsolvable, but neo solitaire ALSO only lets you go through the draw deck ONE TIME (or three times for 3 card draw) which adds so many more unsolvable states...
you might be thinking of other card game rulesets, as in solitare empty spaces are for aces first, then ordered upwards (ace, two, three, four....) you are not normally allowed to remove the cards put in the empty spaces, which can screw over an otherwise winnable solution
@@tommydoez I meant put the card in an empty space in the Tableau, the 7 columns along the bottom, but it appears many versions of Klondike, only Kings can go into empty columns. a black 2 can only go onto a red 3, or on top of the suited Ace in the Foundation (the 4 victory piles in the upper right).
@@wirelessbaguette8997 oh you meant the columns (i thought you were refering to the foundation since Spider allows you to put unusable card on the foundation). yeah that one depends on how you wanna play it and the rulesets. afaik, Klondike is one of the few that allows you to put the empty cards in the empty spaces.
I always thought solitaire was nigh impossible to beat unless you got super lucky which was why I play only the variant where you flipped 1 card at a time.
_which_ solitaire? 2:24 is an illegal state in the rules i know ( i assume only 3 piles being shown means the fourth is clear, however since there are still 3 aces, an entire suit must be home, but that's not true )
at 2:24 there are other stacks not shown, but i cropped them out so you could see the important ones better. in the full image no moves had been played yet
@@autumnchiu which is exactly the reason you should specify which solitaire you mean (and maybe even explain the rules) when you say "solitaire" -- the point of my original comment. ( to be fair, i do now see that it's in the name of the paper, but it really should be in the title )

"Solitaire is harder than you think!"
....So it's COMPLETELY impossible, not just nigh impossible?
unfortunately yes
what if instead of solitare it was freakitare and instead of solving cards you solve feet
bro it's 10 in the morning
Erm, what the sigma?
Bro...
wait but can't you theoretically put the 2♣️ on an empty space temporarily?
not in the ruleset I'm used to, altho it'd be a nice change

1 card is easy. 3 cards is hard
