As a British Pakistani. I am second generation. My urdu is conversationalist. Sadly. My children do not speak Urdu nor do they understand it. This lady’s Urdu is amazing. Allhumdulilah.
I'm British born. English is such a limited language. I absolutely adore Urdu. My mum took me to Pakistan between age 4-13 so I can understand and appreciate my culture/language. I will forever be grateful that she made this decision for me. Everytime I meet an Urdu speaking person I become excited. It's my only opportunity to speak in my favourite language. If i had to choose between English and Urdu I would choose urdu any day. Many Englishi people adore Urdu in the UK Twinkl which is an English website for resources has a lot of fun and colourful Urdu resources amongst other languages which i use for my children.
Samina you are a breath of fresh air. Your command of the Urdu language is far superior than most people. I applaud you and your mindset and I am grateful that you've dedicated your life to teaching Urdu and promoting it. Hats off 👏🏻
Happy to see this! I was speaking on phone in front of a Portuguese friend (and I consider my Urdu decent), and once I finished - she asked if Urdu wasn't a complete language. Turned out my use of English in between Urdu made her wonder! Saw most Europeans not mixing English when they spoke their local language. Same for some other communities. We really need to reflect snd go back to owning our language!
We grew up in Saudi Arabia while reading nonihal and other Urdu magazines. No doubt it greatly improves your Urdu. Urdu has such a charm. There are magical words in Urdu language for which there are no replacement in any language. Teaching a language and especially Urdu is an uphill task. Learning Urdu is difficult too....but with a passion like samina's, no doubt kids can fall in love with the language . ❤️❤️❤️
I bet I haven't met anyone generous, intelligent and smart yet attractive personality more than my urdu teacher. Jab woh bolna shuru krden, kahin aur focus krna mushkil hain.
Urdu kitni meethi zaban hai, koi inko sun ley... dil ker raha tha suntey jayun .. sakoon !!! Jazak Allah... and yes she is right, urdu learning material is not readily available.. mei apni bachi k liye urdu flash cards dhoondhti rahi but kahin se ni miley, I ended up making them myself..
Hamare parents ne bhi bachpan mein nonehaal hi parhai hamein or phool risala, taaleem o tarbiat, islien I love Urdu . Bohat Naram zaban hai bohat meethi
Waouh, iam an overseas Pakistani born in 91' ; and damn you got me one of the biggest lesson in my life. I speak urdu but a casual, iam so impress about your skills! Thanks you for sharing your knowledge ❤
Beautiful Urdu. Aj sab Urdu bolne per sharminda hotey hein. Uspe ye video much needed hai. Apni zaban pe koi itna sharminda nahi hota jitna ham Urdu bolne per khud ko kamtar samjte hein
this is so wholesome. I came to Canada in 1995 (when I was 8 yrs old) . May parents made sure we spoke urdu at home. and when people tell us that ww speak such amazing urdu it's such a proud moment. if we loose our language we loose our identity. why are people in Pakistan so obsessed wuth English?
Aap dono ka buhat buhat shukriya. Dil Khush kardiya aaj apnay. I am an urdu speaker and this was a much needed focus. Well done to this beautiful team.
you spoke my heart. urdu bolney wale ko log parha likha nahin samjhtey. ye sach hay. Imran Khan is the only leader who said that we should learn English but be proud of our language. in his tenure as PM, he ordered to use Urdu language in govt event
Very important topic. Urdu is our national language and it should be appreciated and promoted. We should be proud of our language rather than discourage our coming generation from speaking it. Kanwal you did a great job mashAllah
Schools Ka b bht qasur hai Urdu zuban ko necha krne me. While hiring teachers of English or science they prioritise professional teachers. But when it comes to teaching Urdu, na'ahal teacher hire KR liye jaty hen. We need more Urdu teachers like her who are passionate about their subject.
Unfortunately i taught at a private school where children and teachers both were fined and told off for speaking in urdu. As a teacher i had the most difficult time justifying this to little kids. The principal herself a pious lady would only allow to greet children with 'good morning' rather than saying salam. I couldnt stay there for long. Moved myself and me kids to a diff school within a couple of years. Parents want their children to 'think' in english. Angraiz chalay gaey lekin hamari ghulami abhi tak barqarar ha.
Am honestly so proud of kanwal as well as the speaker for motivating us that being PURE PAKISTAI is not a shame! It is exceptionally too good to be fluent in english but considering urdu as your mother language it should be our major priority>>>>>
Such a nice epidode and a very important and crucial topic...Finally someone has spoken about it.why we are ashamed of our pwn language..Urdu is such a Meethi language.Keep up the good work kanwal
So so happy to see u here Samina! Masha’Allah such inspiring story. I totally agree with your thoughts about not having enough resources in Urdu. Living in Canada, one of my biggest goals and struggle is to make sure my kids know how to speak their mother tongue. I’m thankful to Samina who has been teaching my kids Urdu for the last 2 years. Since then, I have seen so much improvement in their urdu skills, all thanks to Samina. I didn’t know the whole background but feel even more lucky to have such a dedicated urdu teacher for my kids.
Urdu is one of the most beautiful language and unfortunately our new generation is losing there connection with their mother tongue. Zaburdust episode!!! Thank you
Yes please make a kid friendly website or youtube. I want to teach my kids urdu in united states but its so difficult to find interesting things to teach them the language.
An excellent interview. I 💯 agree with Samina, she’s a marvelous lady with so much passion for a language which is not even her mother tongue, much kudos to her. This interview is a lesson to all those who look down upon learning Urdu properly despite that it is their own national language. Viva la’ Urdu. Urdu Zindabad 👍💪
Masha Allah.. You Takhti writing reminded me of my father who let us do it too to improve handwriting. Urdu is my first love reading NoNihaal, Khawateen Digest, Ghalid and Iqbal. Ammi being retired Urdu teacher made me nostalgic with your beautiful conversation. Khush Rahein
Such a unique guest and a breath of fresh air this episode has been, as compared to all other episodes of all seasons though I loved each and every episode of all seasons but this one just stands out as I least expected it to be highlighted and in this way. How someone who migrated made us realise our identity and mistakes we make every day to our and future generations when it comes to our culture and language. Ashamed of not holding 100% command over one language. Somewhere between the languages: Sindhi (mother tongue) Urdu (national language of my country Pakistan) Hindi (preferred for entertainment) English (prioritised to fit in which I now feel is unworthy) I am lost 😔
I’ve watched every single season and every single episode. I’ve never commented on any though I enjoyed all of it. When this episode came to my feed I didn’t like the topic much so I didn’t watch it. Today, i had nothing to watch and i was like okay let’s watch it. And OMG i love love every bits of it. I am soo glad I watched it. Her Urdu and love for Urdu is amazingg. I didn’t want to skip a second even. Thank you Sameena for showing sooo much love for Urdu. Superrr proud of you 🫶✨
The funny thing is I forgot I learned urdu too, no one around me speaks it not anyone I know. I like how it's beautiful and expressive has louds of Arabic words and Persian kinda of interesting combination
We all should own our country and language just like she owns... Hum sharminda hain. She is amazing lady amazing teacher and I love how she is loyal to pakistan and it's culture wow wow wow ❤️❤️
Wah kia khoobsurat mehman hain! Dil khush hugya itni pyari Urdu sun k! Samina ki journey aur un ki Urdu k liye khidmat ko qoumi satah pr bhi recognition ki zarurat hai. I hope iss programme k through ye hu saky. This will be one of my favourite episodes of CWK ever! ❤️🥰
Please do like and comment if you enjoy the episodes! Your support goes a long way ❤
