Some translations for Chris. The horse guy said that he hires our the horse for weddings, ie as part of a horse and carriage, or for a groom to ride on. Traditionally grooms would ride on a horse, so some people still like to do so just for a bit of ceremony, even just for a minute or so for the wedding films. The guy with the orange phone was telling you that the song he was listening to was a tribute to the "friends of Allah", or Wali-Allah as we refer to them as. This is a term used in our part of the world to refer to pious people/Saints. Islam spread in Pakistan based on the teachings of these peoples and their missionary work. There is a strong tradition of poetry and folk music praising God, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and often saints too. I couldn't help but laugh at you getting directions from Lahoris. It's a running joke that you'll get all sorts of different directions in Lahore. The concept of atheism is pretty unknown in Pakistan.

Wow amazing u now drink first sugar cane juice in Karachi now it's Lassi .u taste all flavour of drink .wish u best memories and we want every year u come Pakistan . We always love and respect u from heart . Pakistan zindabad
Chris don't worry about it's just the culture of people in Pakistan if they haven't been abroad they are not familiar with lots of things. That's why they ask so many questions. (please don't be offended)
Hey Chris wanted to give you a little input I wish I was there I would've loved to accompany you: 1. a lot of curious people and a lot of small vendors would rather take foreigner's currency for the collection... 2. That Lassi is too creamy so it can have a layer on your throat stayed for a while, that's another reason you're loosing your voice if you experience something of a sort , it's a good idea to have something warm, even just a little warm honey water... 3. Although it's very different from the west and sometimes western people might get offended but locals here can't understand the fact that someone can be an atheist, they think that people believe differently in God, but everyone does believe in God so they they'll keep on repeating the question and then due to the language barrier they think they're not able to communicate it to you. 4. You picked on the keyword mota wala for Lassi, it's very common to mend names and make nick names in Pakistan so the key for Lassi wala was "Jaida" which the guy who was giving you directions kept repeating.
I guess the guy asking for dollars didn't mean , he is begging or want you to pay for searching the lassi shop. People here loves to collect different currencies that why he is asking.
Chris, how did you find your interactions with pashtun (pathan)? I found they have been very warm towards you guys. Even in karachi I found that your interaction with pathan was warm (the guy in Pakistani shirt (hashim amla), the tea seller from Chaman, Mr shinning photo guy etc). Again I found your time in peshawar was very good except the one small incident. May be as a pathan I might be a little bias but it would be interesting if you could do a short video on this topic. Lahore has been a little disappointing
I just love learning languages. I started learning Chinese when I was about 12 years old, and traveled and studied in China. Then I went to Vietnam and learned Vietnamese. And for about a year I've been learning Urdu. Just love learning! My next language is Nepali :)
This is the first video of you that I've watched. Thanks, Chris, for visiting our country. It's sad we see some messed up people around the streets, like that guy who asked you of 'dollar', or those ones bringing up politics, and that one who called you guys "dehshatgard (terrorists)" at around 14:46. It's sad, really.
The not understanding you have no religion is something I first discovered at 15 years old. I am from the South of England and my parents took me on holiday to Butlins in Scotland. In a youth club there I met some Northern Irish kids around my own age. One of their first questions was "Are you Protestant or Catholic?" At that time I truly did not know what that meant and said I didn't know. They laughed at me and said "What's your religion?" I said I didn't have one and they looked genuinely shocked. Next they said that "You must have a religion, everyone has one!" although they weren't revealing theirs yet I could tell they were being a little hostile and I was like, "No, I don't have a religion." and they appeared to struggle with that answer because they are all looking at each other funny. The line of questioning continued and they asked "OK, but what is your father's religion?" Well, he doesn't have one so I said "He's doesn't have one either." They looked a bit upset by this answer and went up a generation again, "So what was your grandfather? Protestant or Catholic? You must be one or the other!" and I could only answer that I didn't know. They really did appear as baffled by my answers as I was with their questions. We ended up dropping the subject after I pulled out a 50 gram pouch of tobacco and offered them all a roll-up. They got friendlier at that point. I was worried for a bit that they wanted to beat me up. Up until then they were all looking at each other, deciding what to do with out actually saying anything.
The smaller highland Scottish communities and Ireland prob tend to be more religious. The question over your religion may form part of others building up an opinion about you, whether it should or not. Perhaps even more so in countries such as Pak in which gov and religion are thought to be heavily merged (at least in comparison to Europe). Then again, even in the UK and some other European countries in which the majority that don't collect a pension do not really practice, religion is still engained in society on some level, non practicing people may still marry in churches, baptise children, celebrate easter and xmas which can have religious elements to it all etc. religion and state were seperated so I suppose plenty of today's laws are also based on christian belief. People just think of many practices of the country as part of the culture or tradition and little else
@@KnightmareUSA They had grown up in N.I. in the shadow of The Troubles and their suspicion or outright disdain of other religions (Catholics I later learned). It was there I first heard the term "Fenian bastards" too but I did not understand the term at the time. It was a genuinely tense situation, again, broken by my producing a decent amount of tobacco and being willing to share some. I was so naive back then but I was still just a kid and not from a religious family or area for that matter.
I LOVE this series of videos and I'm looking forward to visiting Pakistan someday, too. But one thing I'm feeling a bit weird about -- where are all the women? In all the videos, I didn't even see a female shop owner or attendant. It's hard to overlook things like this.

Guys who have enjoyed a Christmas somewhat different from the West. Pakistan has a lot to offer. Society and culture span many diverse cultures and ethnic groups. It is interesting that even the reputation is still negative and tourism is prohibited.👍
Ayo where miles at?
Your Urdu OMG so so good I have been to China it’s been 5 years I,m not fluent and you,r speaking Urdu better than us locals lots of love ❤️ 💕
Max actually stole my words when he said "I thought you weren't religious" lol
Great you tube videos you really have kept us informed your Urdu is impeccable once again thanks for putting your faith in Pakistan and visiting.
He asked for dollar and said "sauk hai mujhe" it means he like to collect currencies so he didn't accept Pakistani currency.
I was thinking the same. He has a hobby of collecting notes and coins or something.
Still begged for money. This I think is the difference between Peshawar and lahore.
$1 is a lot for a 10 second walk. He collects currencies to exchange back to rupees for more money.
@@HeatherLewis213 🤣
Given that he returned the money, let’s give him the benefit of doubt
Man you are an absolute legend!!!Thank you so much for quality content.
You don't have to be religious to believe there is a Creator, a Supreme Authority, Unique and All Powerful.
Brother I am really amazed by your Urdu language skill ...
I love it..
Some people in this world can be rude, so I hope you guys don't them too serious. As always, thanks for making these videos and sharing with the world
😂🤣 Chris Bhai wo dialogue ek no. 👌 "Nawaz srif kya h tumhara naam h" So funny boy yar..😂🤣♥️
One Question Chris how come you and Max didn’t visit HUNZA skardu those areas plz say ur gonna come again and visit the northern areas visit kalash valley
Why are you so apologetic?
Iv seen a lot of vloggers come to Pakistan from America n Europe but Chris is the first vlogger that i know that can speak Urdu that is impressive
You'll miss lahori breakfast in America 😁 btw thanks for showing Pakistan positive image. 10/10 for your urdu.
chris and max, i love yall's adventures, please keep them comin
The worst part about watching your vlogs is the part when they end🥺
Chris I love your Pakistan series
Hey Chris wanted to give you a little input I wish I was there I would've loved to accompany you:
1. a lot of curious people and a lot of small vendors would rather take foreigner's currency for the collection...
This guy is a language master . Saw his Vietnamese speaking videos . I’m so impressed
Chris you sure look like a pathan! 🇵🇰 love ur vids and ur urdu from Mardan
Wow so lovely 🥰
Another great vlogs 👌
I am happy to see you too happy when you are drinking lassi🤗
Keep enjoying 🌹🇵🇰
Respect to both of you.
Great video Chris💖💖 I am from Pakistan💖💖 I hope you enjoyed Pakistan
I guess the guy asking for dollars didn't mean , he is begging or want you to pay for searching the lassi shop.
People here loves to collect different currencies that why he is asking.
Nice joke
Yes bro, you are right...mujhay bhi collection ka shoq ha
Why would you ask a foreigner for it if you're a collector? Just buy it or pay equivalent money in your currency.
@@Adeel808s Cuz those baggers thought they can easily steal money from a foreigner making him her fool with their fake disposals
@@jonsnow466 shutup bro, if it was like that then why would he return the money?
Your and Max's videos are wholesome!
Exactly. I was surprised.
The video you're giving is great.
Thank you
I wish I could speak hindi that well :) You have amazing language skills bro.
thts urdu
I'm Shakeel from Taiwan. I'm Born in Pakistan. Love to watch your videos
Good bye 🇵🇰 pakistan bro... happy journey of you... bro 👍❄️
You win my heart bro chris .May you live long both happy new year 🎉
How do you know Urdu man? Ia have seen many youtubers ,but none like you who can speak so many languages
He did study about Urdu and learned how to write ✍️ and speak both
Another youtuber named Karl Rock knows how to speak urdu/hindi and he is more fluent.
I just love learning languages. I started learning Chinese when I was about 12 years old, and traveled and studied in China. Then I went to Vietnam and learned Vietnamese. And for about a year I've been learning Urdu. Just love learning! My next language is Nepali :)
@@mohammadsami6031 Karl he speaks Hindi not Urdu, Chris can speak Urdu you can see the way of pronounce Urdu words with very respectful way
You are getting real fun and love of local public, no doubt it will be surprising. 👏🏻❤️❤️🌹🌹👌👌
Why would he say that? Because Americans brought violence to Middle East and west of India?
@@bvedant it's a common perception here in East that the West supports all the Islamophobic activities.
🎉very gifted young man and i’m very proud of you 👏 for learning multiple different language’s and working hard. your amazing ! 🍀
the terror that went through my heart when these guys went into the backstreets and people weren't friendly and they kept talking...lol.
To be fair, not everyone wants to be recorded without permission.. whether they are miserable and run a store or not
Nice Video Chris And Max!
My man at 4:49 literally translated “pechey pechey aao” to “come back” lol
I LOVE this series of videos and I'm looking forward to visiting Pakistan someday, too. But one thing I'm feeling a bit weird about -- where are all the women? In all the videos, I didn't even see a female shop owner or attendant. It's hard to overlook things like this.
this is old part of lahore . its hard to find female shop owners here as its more traditional area with old cultural values. female prefer working in new lahore where it is more easy and comfortable for them to work
Its just old cultural things. Don't worry. You'll see many women in bazaars 😂
Because they are muslims .
16:37 "You meet him (Max) here? " (because you said Max is Pashtoon) ...Open and funny guy.
Lovely videos of yours!
Wow, you’re amazing
How you speak our language is outstanding
BRAVA. Yep Pakistan is a religious country so it’s hard to digest that you don’t follow any religion
Bro great video and very impressed with your urdu
To believe (faith) and religion/ "being religious" are different things
Jesus is not god Jesus prophet of Allah God
@@AmjadAli-kb5dv that’s his/her belief, please don’t disrespect others beliefs, you wouldn’t want anyone to do it to you
Love from the usa and Pakistan, also great urdu🇺🇸❤️🤝🇵🇰
