I'm a uk born Pakistani. I'm 43 now. Last time I went to Karachi was in 2007. Miss the place, really felt I was home. I always wondered, my parents left Pakistan to seek wealth/a better life. But I feel a better life was left behind by those like my parents. Money/wealth/the bling does not = being rich! Loving your Urdu brother. I love it when I hear non Pakistani people speaking Urdu 😁😁😁
Hi brother a little late to reply you. Don't ever think you'd be better of born here n live here. If ur parents went abroad... They were right. Its still ur home 🇵🇰💚.. U can still Come here anytime on tour.... See places where ur father used to play in childhood...and all... But if u r born in UK live the best life there.... ☺
@nadeem Asghar "my parents left Pakistan to seek wealth/a better life. But I feel a better life was left behind by those like my parents." I feel the same about my friend from Tibet. Obviously he was living on the border in India after what happened. The pull of the west seems strong to some people, yet they had the most perfect life already. The west is a trap and sometimes parts of it seriously lacks the way of being I see in India and Pakistan. Lobsang was so happy when I gave him his first television in my country, but deep down I felt terrible about it ! Like I contributed to corrupting him in some way ! haha. I was born in the UK too, but have missed Nepal since I was born here ! I hope you understand what I'm saying. I'm six years older than you, and I know I will go back in my old age and die there. Depending on how life has been over here for you, the finances could translate well to relocate at some point. You could live like a king, probably experiencing a better life than your parents did whilst in Pakistan. Easy for me without family, maybe different for you ? 🙏
Greetings from Canada ! I hope you have a wonderful time in Pakistan , I was born there ( Karachi Pakistan ) and my family left for Canada in the mid 70s . We were living in Lahore at the time when my parents and myself left the country .

At 1200rs, it was a little high in price for Karachi! I hope you went to the Burns Road area at night where there is the biggest concentration of street food vendors 🇵🇰👍
Great urdu bro. Really makes the experience a whole lot different when you can actually communicate with the locals. Amazing content as well. Keep it up.
Wow, Pakistan has been on our list for a while, but I'm just so impressed with your Urdu skills. You only get this level of engagement with any locals if you speak the local language. Seriously impressive! 👏
Welcome to Pakistan. When you are trying local food, get some assistant from locals, so they can guide you how to taste it. Like when you order a tea cup, you can ask them pure strong tea (taeez chai), light tea, tea with a lot of milk (dood pati) or tea without sugar. When you order any food, ask them to serve you with less amount of chili and cooking oil.
Major kudos on your Urdu proficiency, Chris. Thanks for setting the bar this high for those of us who would like to learn a bit of the local language when we visit a place. Re the title of your video, though, I think it's a little misleading -- I'm sure unintentionally. I'm Pakistani (or Pakistani American), and fully understand that the media coverage Pakistan gets in the West has mostly to do with the violence against foreigners that occasionally happens there (thankfully less so now). But why would random acts of kindness or friendliess make the news anyway? Yes, Pakistanis are generally friendly and helpful -- more so if you're a foreigner (because foreigners are a novelty) and still more if you're white (because, frankly, Pakistanis are still very shall we say color conscious?) But it's not for nothing that the State Department (note, not the media) generally warns Americans (read white Americans) to exercise extreme caution when in Pakistan. Things have gotten better over the last few years, yep, but there's still, unfortunately, a very real risk of an attack on them or of them being kidnapped. If anyone is in any doubt of this, witness the head-of-state level security protocol that is provided foreign sports teams that have slowly begun to tour Pakistan after about 20 years. (There was one high-profile tour by a Sri Lankan cricket national team in 2009, which ended horribly). So, as much as I agree with your assessment on Pakistanis in general being super friendly, I think young, adventurous Americans wishing to emulate you here are best advised to exercise the caution that the US state department advises. Once again, super props to you on learning the language as well as you have!
when the kartarpur corridor opened, and Sikh punjabis came to pakistan, pakistanis stood on the border with their cars and keys handing to them so that they can travel freely. pakistan is crazy. big hearts.

Best wishes and take care Chris!

The young guy hanging around the older guys learns so much. He's quiet and his gentle smile speaks volumes. ☺️ Seeing the photo made him so happy. Friendly, welcoming people offering tea. I can't wait to visit. Peace on you all.
I am from India. When you spoke in Urdu, it did bring a smile on my face too. Hope you have a great trip in Pakistan and make a lot of good memories.
You are most welcome to visit India as well.
Thanks for watching! I’ll definitely also be visiting india!
@@chrismixlewisDelighted your coming to India. Welcome and you might relish the Nihari of Old Delhi, although I recommend the Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken (both invented in New Delhi) might be more conducive for American taste buds. Your Urdu would work all over India except South India, they speak a bunch of other languages there. All the best and lots of love to Chris Lewis.
Appreciated frm Pk bro🥳

I'm a uk born Pakistani. I'm 43 now. Last time I went to Karachi was in 2007. Miss the place, really felt I was home. I always wondered, my parents left Pakistan to seek wealth/a better life. But I feel a better life was left behind by those like my parents. Money/wealth/the bling does not = being rich! Loving your Urdu brother. I love it when I hear non Pakistani people speaking Urdu 😁😁😁
ruclips.net/video/tVPuOo4JhE8/видео.html
Although there is so much distance between our 2 countries even though we share a border, thank you so much for showing the culture for some curious people in India, Im sure your channel will work as a bridge to connect us folks great work ❤️. Lots of love from India.
Ditto. You read my mind and heart.

@@muslima518 Why r u sending love? Do u also send replies to indians barking out of jealousy on Pakistan posts??? Answer is no..... No need to send love by mentioning Pakistan. Sending love to those who brutally tortured innocent Kashmiris... Is a traitor of Pakistan. Remember this always.

That's what Priyantha Kumara said before getting killed by a mob of 100+ Pakistanis in silakot, pakistan for blasphemy.
Ironically the countries described as being "the most dangerous in the world" in the medias turn out to have the most nicest and friendly people ever. Iran is a similar case to Pakistan too. Friend of mine once went there said nothing but good about iranians who were so open, kind, friendly to him during his holidays in Iran. Same can be said for Pakistan too. God bless Pakistan and pakistani people.
Loved the video, your Urdu is absolutely spot on 99% of the time. Hats off for your efforts in learning the basic language, really really well done.

Assalamualaikum Chris: you certainly draw the crowd when they hear you speaking Urdu, even with your American accent👍🇵🇰 The meal you ate at the restaurant was a nice mutton nihari! At 1200rs, it was a little high in price for Karachi! I hope you went to the Burns Road area at night where there is the biggest concentration of street food vendors 🇵🇰👍
You know Chris is a great guy and he is incredible
Have you ever been to Pakistan @Laurance
Yes its expensive because it's like restaurant . It's not street food .
@Abdullah Shoaib he don't know the prices I think they visited in 2002
I also noticed the price, it was tooooo much for a simple meal! i guess some of our people also charge high prices from foreigners!
The people there are so nice. You were exited too😂 love it. Your energy and openness is contagious 😂👍👏
Yes, Pakistanis are generally friendly and helpful -- more so if you're a foreigner (because foreigners are a novelty) and still more if you're white (because, frankly, Pakistanis are still very shall we say color conscious?)
But it's not for nothing that the State Department (note, not the media) generally warns Americans (read white Americans) to exercise extreme caution when in Pakistan.
Wow! Thank you so much Patrick. I'm sorry, I didn't see this till now! I think the title is fine. The views and the feedback show it.
@@chrismixlewis Oh okay, Chris. If you say so. ;-)
@@chrismixlewis My first reply was tinged with irony. But on thinking about it, you're right-- nothing wrong with the title.

There have been many female vloggers in Pakistan such as Eva Zu Beck and Rosie Gabrielle etc, check out their channels as well. Even Rosie came here from Canada and never left. So sorry for you bad experience though.
Leslie P, sure you would get the same treatment, but just respect the local customs and culture etc,e.g.,covering yourself up with at least a headscarf and traval with someone who knows about where to go, you can contact some people in the 5 star hotels.
Leslie no problem some people who make men their brother , sometimes try to make women their gf or wify.
