Patrick Bateman I don't get it. I like him, he's got an enertainingly upbeat personality(though I can imagine it being grating to some), he seems like a genuinely nice guy who loves what he does, and he makes pretty informative, short reviews. They're not the best, which might be why people don't like him, but he does a pretty good job of giving a good overview of the movie. There are plenty of other people that do way better reviews though, like Chris Stuckmann, Red Letter Media and Adum and Ralph.
Sean Locke yeah ikr he just does his own thing and doesn't bother anyone, and yet everyone attacks him for it. He also doesn't claim to be Critic so I don't see what the problem is
This is such a great podcast which means with my luck with other podcasts I loved they’ll probably stop making episodes and I’ll have nothing to listen to

I'm very happy to find out that my favorite movie channel DOUBLE YOU DOUBLE DOUBLE YOU DOUBLE YOU DOT RUclips DOT COME FORWARD SLASH RALPH THE MOVIE MAKER has a podcast with my 2nd and 3rd favorite channels
Did they talk about that? I haven’t finished the podcast yet. Either way that would be great. Together with Dunkey and JonTron that would be all my favs in one podcast
Q and A questions: 2:03:45 - Would you date someone who has awful taste in movies? 2:10:08 - How do you guys come up with such garbage, yet funny movies? Like, what is your process behind finding movies worth reviewing?
The Elephant Man is such a great film and would probably be among Lynch's most accessible. It's very straight forward storytelling and not really any Lynchian weirdness. The performances are excellent, too. Highly recommend all 3 of you watch it.
Does anyone else notice that the plot of Infinity War is the plot of a Sonic game? Powerful gems that control the universe, a big bad wants them, heroes have to collect them first.
Do you know how many fantasy stories involve separate gems that were made something something long ago and something something combined to something something control the universe something something ultimate power.
Western Australia had a 3 year trial and a vote to have daylight savings. Not to get rid of it, but to start doing it. Needless to say everyone here voted against it and now their thinking of doing another 3 year trial sometime soon :|
Rasengan yeah but who went to a marvel movie looking for art, tbh iv been under the impression that avengers was made for cash, I agree it’s pretty soulless
Ralph quit bitching about bad questions and just give good answers. The onus is on *you* to deliver something of quality in this context and your complaints essentially amount to dead air. Anyways what's your favorite album?
SpruceGoose I agree. they are accepting his opinion in this but he’s just trying to defend his case but he can’t accept the fact alex and Ralph like marvel
Adam calling Lynch pretentious 😂 his phone line is legendary, and not nearly as aggressive as he made it out to be here. Lynch is tongue in cheek as fuck, and he’s allowed to prefer a tv or theatre as a delivery method for his art. He also doesn’t come off as that full of himself to be honest, he seems very self aware.
I always see him as just extremely opinionated not like a smartass. He is right for the phone thing and I watched some movies on the phone . People consume art just to consume it , watch a movie on 1 screen do something on the next and I am sometimes guilty of that .
I actually still have a stack of cassette tapes in my room from when I was a kid, where I basically recorded myself talking as if I was the host of a radio show. I would have 'guests' (which where either my parents, or straight up characters I invented and voiced myself!), and with me being a huge fan of video games (and this being before youtube) I would put the cassette recorder up to the TV, and play video games so I could listen to the music. When I got older (I'm embarrassed to admit my age at this point!), I began to play through games and record commentary as I went, and do things like voice over cutscenes. I wasn't until later that I realised I was basically doing lets plays before they were a thing! I think I'd die of embarrassment if anyone were to ever hear them, but it's kind of a treasured memory of a more innocent time in my life.
he said "David Lynch movies USUALLY don't win the palme d'or" commenting on how hard he bashes the industry he is in. He is saying that a Lynch movie winning a prestigious award like that is out of character for his films.
Daylight saving was an american idea (i think by Benjamin Franklin) but was first used in WW1 era Europe so they could save electricity on artifical light and instead use it towards the war effort. Farmers would pretty much always get up with the sun anyways. Thats pretty much all i remember about it from school.
The German's invented it to save fuel during WW1, but yeah pretty much what you said.(Ben Franklin was a thieving hackfraud who never had a good idea he didn't steal.)
I'm gonna have to completely disagree with YMS on Marvel movies not bringing up civilians until Civil War. The first Avengers movie literally ends on that same question.
Game theory is a corporate channel now. They even have a guy named Austin making game theory videos (they don’t title them game theory though, but the are) as well as that the videos are written by random people. Matpat doesn’t even make his own videos anymore.
Man, you guys get on it. This is the first podcast I've listened to for some reason and I love that you discussed Lynch and your different RUclips approaches. I'm gonna watch the Von Trier for the next episode. Thanks so much for this.
It's funny Adam said something about feeling bad for comic fanboys not realizing the movie studios are probably going to duck everything up. Lol no. I'm sure we're all aware. It's always been like that, even with video game movies.
Joel dude I'm worried too. A lot of companies are too afraid of making an R-rated superhero movie when that is literally half or more of all Comics out there. It's like they forget things like Blade, Sin City, or even the Men in Black we're comic books and they were very violent. Spider-Man set the precedent on what superhero movies could do and pull in financially and everyone else has been trying to match it since then. Which reminds me I remember someone mentioning they were trying to do a Carnage movie and there is no way they can do that without an R rating and making it a horror gore fest. There's too much studio meddling even in the simplest things like soundtracks. If you look at any of the interviews with Trey Stone or Matt Parker it's the same struggle.
It's so refreshing to see bigger content creators support amateurs. As someone who works in the digital artist community, there’s a lot of arrogant and superiority problems. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked bigger artist questions to try to better myself as a content creator only to get turned down or blatantly ignored. I was honestly shocked whenever you guys shared equipment/software you used; that’s so unorthodox in the artist community. I’m not into editing/film making myself, but I’m glad people who are have the support system you guys offer.
The only Lynch film I've seen is Eraserhead and it fucking terrified me. The surrealism and body horror aspect and the psychological aspect of it as well as its very bleak, nihilistic view of parenthood were just too much for me. It's more scary imo than any traditional horror film I've seen. The "Oh, you are sick" and the end scene totally freaked me out.
I heard they still do daylight savings because it reduces power usage because there's more hours of light in the day so people won't have their lights on as much.
Summer break was invented for farmers. So the kids could help with the harvest/ planting. IIRC (too lazy to google it) Daylight Savings time was invented by Benjamin Franklin, in order to save lamp oil. Hence "Daylight Savings". It was literally about saving money.
Vsauce has good video explaining why daylight savings and leap year are a thing. Pretty much we made a mistake when the time period of a year was decided and daylight savings fixed it, but then another slight mistake showed up and leap year fixed that, so now instead being set back if a quarter of day each year now it's like minute of set back due to just the Earth's movement. The video explains it better for sure but that's the gists of it. Now, I have no idea why different countries do different dates for their daylight savings, that's new to me, I think America has it lined up with spring and Autumn solstice though. Hope this was somewhat helpful. Keep it up lads
The process got to me a bit lol I've been writing my book for a little over 2 years now, but when I first even made this thing, the very first idea, the rough draft 8 years ago of even the first 6 pages I was so inept and terrible at it. When I asked my brother to read it to see if I had anything he said "Yeah...this isn't legible and very bad... don't even try" which I even thanked him for... now reinventing the book over the course of the years, I now have something special. When I gave my brother the first 4 chapters of what I have after reinventing the book over all this time his response was "Not my cup of tea, but I'm very surprised I can actually read this" ... I've even sent these same chapters to so many other people and haven't gotten any bad feedback... all of them advent readers lol The process for anything good takes so long it's like taking a piece of your life and investing it with all you got... not just sit in a forest and think of ideas... you need to think of the story, create your characters, the story board, the dialogue etc... how can anyone not know this shit? XD
Dune and Elephant man are the most mainstream Lynchian films. More so than Wild at Heart. Blue Velvet is a good runner up for the exception of the strange way people react to situations.
He also once said he tried to double dip on a sponsorship deal by getting a deal from two separate branches of the same company, thus getting paid twice. He plays it off as just a mistake in a video, and uses it as a lesson. I think we all know not to do that type of shit. Also, he acts sort of like a robot sometimes. He's good for some base level technical advice, but he's not a master by any means. Honestly, a few of his videos are good, but I'm not coming back for more. You're just going to have to learn some things not through videos or college, but just from experience.
I love that each of them can disagree on things without being rude/disrespectful to the opposing argument. They give good reasons for why/why not when they’re talking about stuff they like/dislike which is always nice. It gets me genuinely excited to hear what they want to talk about with each new episode.
I'm sitting here debating if i should even say this.. I just want to know if anyone else feels that Adums snobbiness kinda gets old? I love him and his snobbiness and I was actually a fan of him before the other two, but when he disagrees with everything and almost talks down to the other guys for having another opinion, I start to cringe. Am i the only one? If so, thats okay I'm just a tarded
I like Adam because every now and then he will provide a unique, interesting and very valid perspective. I often don't agree with him. But his perspective is clearly backed up by a lot of experience.
Dapper Changeling I really dont think that Ralph thinks that about himself or pushes that idea with real intent. I live in New York and I've met a lot of dudes who similarly bluntly state their opinions somewhat harshly, but he concedes that you might not feel the same and buffers really strong opinions so to me he seems like a perfectly nice guy.
I agree with the comments about the new Avengers. I'm concerned with how they are going to make a story that makes sense, while giving each character screentime that we sat through 18 movies to get the back story of, AND not making it seemed rushed.

Does anyone else notice that the plot of Infinity War is the plot of a Sonic game? Powerful gems that control the universe, a big bad wants them, heroes have to collect them first.
But no one cares about sonic, besides infinity gauntlet was written way back in the early 90s

Do you know how many fantasy stories involve separate gems that were made something something long ago and something something combined to something something control the universe something something ultimate power.
Alex is a god damn good self taught artist like damn
The Lynch films Criterion has put out still don't have chapter select.

I look forward to this podcast every week, I paint and laugh while listening....thank you guys so much. Enjoying the content.
Avengers Infinity War is 2hrs 36mins. It's the longest Marvel movie, the only one to hit (and pass for that matter) 2 and a half hours.
DJGamingSmash civil war was around 2:30 I believe
2 hours 28 minutes, I checked.
DJGamingSmash Also Thanos and Thor get the most screen time.
Ralph can we get an appearance of Macon on the podcast?
The guy that looks like a salamander? Nice beginning guys.
Mex it’s so rude and the guy doesn’t deserve comments like that...
"I'm there for the Kraft" Adam from YMS
I've even sent these same chapters to so many other people and haven't gotten any bad feedback... all of them advent readers lol
The process for anything good takes so long it's like taking a piece of your life and investing it with all you got... not just sit in a forest and think of ideas... you need to think of the story, create your characters, the story board, the dialogue etc... how can anyone not know this shit? XD
Daylight Savings is still relevant as it makes morning commutes for some people more safe.
Dune and Elephant man are the most mainstream Lynchian films. More so than Wild at Heart. Blue Velvet is a good runner up for the exception of the strange way people react to situations.
"He shot that movie on like the shittiest possible camera that existed at the time" - the Sony pd150. My first camera
Ironically, probably one of the better digital cameras. For the time. It looks like garbage now.
Can’t believe there wasn’t any mention of Twin Peaks during an hour long Lynch discussion. Oh well, great episode as always- keep it up!
I watched some of DSLRguide's videos after Ralphs rant. He basically sounds like a pretentious college student who never went to college.
Phaidon wait when does he talk about that?
47 minute's in.
Angel Lucas He mentions it several times throughout the podcast
Samuel McNurlen well I don't watch whole thing cause it's boring to me
He also once said he tried to double dip on a sponsorship deal by getting a deal from two separate branches of the same company, thus getting paid twice.
These podcasts are great, guys. Never heard of Ralph before this but I love it!
"Oh yeah, Mein Kampf is a great book" - Ralphthemoviemaker 2018
Where does he say that?
Thank you for a recommendation, Ralph, that was the best David Lynch movie I've ever seen.
Aaaaand Infinity War turned out to be one of the best MARVEL films...
12171010011010 I completely agree with you. But sometimes I just dont like it every time
I don't hear the snobbery, and honestly, i wouldn't mind it.
Better than Ralphs obnoxious holier than thou attitude
Dapper Changeling I really dont think that Ralph thinks that about himself or pushes that idea with real intent. I live in New York and I've met a lot of dudes who similarly bluntly state their opinions somewhat harshly, but he concedes that you might not feel the same and buffers really strong opinions so to me he seems like a perfectly nice guy.
I agree with the comments about the new Avengers. I'm concerned with how they are going to make a story that makes sense, while giving each character screentime that we sat through 18 movies to get the back story of, AND not making it seemed rushed.
