"How did they get all the explosives under the bridge?" "How did they get all the explosives under the football field?" Ummmm, the Joker blew up an entire hospital, & rigged Rachel & Harvey with their own explosives, & rigged 2 boats filled with people. The problem isn't HOW Bane did it, it's the fact that (unlike the Joker) we don't really care about anything going on. So out of boredom we start nitpicking.
When nobody was looking. Duh. For real though I think that's less of a real complaint in Ruses than Dark Knight. At least Bane has dozens of dudes who got some kind of special forces training. Joker just had himself and literally only other crazy people from mental hospitals helping him. What he pulls off in that movie makes no sense. At least I can bullshit away that Bane his dozens of special forces duders can set bombs while nobody is looking because the police force is lax during their grand peacetime. "Victory has defeated you"
That doesn't really excuse it though... TDK has A LOT of major plotholes that kind of bring the movie down from being something spectacular. I still really like it but I think there's a fair amount to criticize in all of the Nolan Batman movies.
I didn't have to *try* to be bored because I was naturally bored. & I WAS interested in the previous films. You see I don't have a problem with TDKR being worse than TDK. Most movies that I love aren't as good as TDK. The problem I have is that even when you set TDKR apart from the rest of the film series & just judge it as a singular film, I personally find it to be very convoluted & unintriguing.

From what I’ve been able to gather, there was no “original version” of dark knight rises that included the joker. Heath ledger died before the release of the dark knight and Christopher Nolan originally wasn’t going to come back for a third. By the time he did the dark knight had been out for at least a year, therefore the joker’s absence was a forgone conclusion.
4/10, not enough praise for The Dark Knight Rises, Adam and Alex are small guys confirmed Edit: never mind, Adam is medium size (as he knows what Baneposting is)
I don't care what anyone says I will always like The Dark Knight Rises. Yes, it isn't nearly as good as The Dark Knight but it's still a Good Movie and an acceptable conclusion of The Dark Knight Trilogy. Tom Hardy as Bane was a really good Villain and the story was solid.
It was me being facetious. I'm not bashing anyone. I'm not sure what being objective has to do with anything. Besides, the guy said he clearly doesn't care what anyone else says, so why do you?
Jacobs ladder would be my childhood trauma movie. When I was maybe 6 or 7 years old it was playing on tv so I watched it while my parents weren’t home. Nightmare fuel.
The bois are flexing their height on Ralph this ep. Also the pit from TDKR is a metaphor for the Lazarus pit, where Ra’s al Ghul would rejuvenate himself before death in the comics.
I donated to Ralph’s Patreon because I wanted to support him and show that I appreciated what he was doing, I didn’t expect him to feel obliged to do anything or feel pressured
The biggest achievement that I think Jacobs Ladder has is that is puts you in the head of the main character so vividly. You fully understand Jacob, and you kinda go crazy with him. The world of this movie, is so freaking full of dispair, and I DID NOT want to stay in the world of this movie. I wanted out as quickly as possible. That may count as a potential flaw in the film as well, atleast subjectively. But on the other hand, the atmosphere was crafted so well objectively, that I can't help but think of it as a positive element of the movie critically. I felt like it was a bit too long, and maybe some things could have been cut out. A small nitpick is that the credits are at the beginning. That part definitely felt dated. Favourite lime of the movie was during what I think is that key moment of the film, the doctor says that the demons are actually angels depending on how you look at it. If nothing else, this movie definitely will stick with me for the rest of my life
Considering how late i am to this video you guys probably won't see it but i wanna thank you for taking the time to discuss Jacobs Ladder. Even if it's not your cup of tea i really appreciate your insights about the film. Honestly, Sardonicast should just throw in the towel and become a Death Grips cover band. Adam can be Zach Hill, Ralph can be MC Ride and Alex can be Andy Morin.
I stand with Ralph on liking The Dark Knight Rises. It’s kinda like Return of The Jedi. It’s got some big issues but it’s certainly still well made and it’s a good conclusion.
oh boy the movie where the first two thirds is like the best film ever made and the last 1/3 is like rolling your legs up over your head and shitting into your own mouth
Fuck yes I’ve been meaning to get to Adam’s new recommendation ever since PhantomStrider’s claymation videos. Really looking forward to the discussion.
During the batman discussion, it seemed like Ralph was looking at the positives and giving it a 6/10, while Adum and Alex were looking at the negatives and giving it a 6/10. Their disagreement isn't over the quality, but just why they think its of that quality.
What I adore is that these three can disagree strongly on films, yet they still have nothing but respect and love for eachother, because at the end of the day it’s opinions. They don’t insult the others intelligence like some A holes online named Mauler, they are just civil. It makes me forget that most of the internet are insecure whiny baby’s who will demonize you for liking something you don’t like.
The actors that have appeared in the most sardonicast discussion movies are: Philip Seymour Hoffman (Happiness, Punch-Drunk Love & Mary and Max) Pruitt Taylor Vince (Wild at Heart & Jacob's Ladder) Mike Chute (Mommy & Martyrs)
The pit while it still does not make a whole lot of sense in the grand scheme of things I'm pretty sure it's supposed to represent the Lazerus Pit from the comics. In the comics the pit is literally a pit of green goop stuff that brings people back from the dead and Ra's al Ghul uses it to essentially have internal life. Nolon's whole idea for this trilogy was Batman set in as real of a world as possible. So that's why the prison was a pit because the idea is by escaping the pit it's almost symbolic of rising again or being "reborn".
I actually really like the Dark Knight Rises, it felt like a nice wrap-up to the trilogy. I liked how loud Bane's voice was because, like Ralph said, it gave him more of a presence. But his plan made no fucking sense.
A Town Called Panic was a perfect stop motion movie to laugh at, and Mary and Max was beautiful to watch. I wish I could get an English version of ATCP so my friends could enjoy it without complaining about reading.
Mr Sunday doesn't exactly have the same... Sense of humour as these guys. He's too nice for this crowd. Karsten would be pretty good tho, he has that meme humour.
I think the thing with the lawyer was him being told that he didn't have a case to sue the guy who killed his kid, which probably led to a mental downward spiral, which probably led to his divorce with Sarah. I think it was blending the two issues of the drugs with the US government and him trying to sue for maybe what happened to his kid or perhaps whatever happened to him to get his back hurt and get him to a chiropractor and blending them all together saying "you don't have a case."

1:21:45 I saw Pink Floyd's The Wall for the first time on a pot brownie and it absolutely blew my mind; I would have liked it regardless but I'm certain it gave me an appreciation that made it one of my favorite films. I also spent four nights watching a different Studio Ghibli film after a bit of edible (Nausicaa, Spirited Away, Mononoke, and Castle itS, iirc) and can't recommend trying the same enough. Ghibli films' quality are such that it *completely* draws you in to the story and worlds they build, almost a dissociative experience. Beautiful. P.S. If that guy's username was a "Godspeed You! Got to agree with Ralph on TDKR, it’s a good movie and shouldn’t be criticized over technicality and the action etc because none of that shit really matters. It’s about the ending of a trilogy that had a huge impact on cinema, and it succeeded in doing that I think.
Jacob's Ladder was good when I saw it back in 1991, and in my humble opinion his going home and what happens after is just a dying man's dream. There was an old Twilight Zone episode that kinda did the same thing, it's called An Incident At Owl Creek, I think.
I liked Jacob's Ladder a lot when I watched it several years ago. I bought it on DVD in highschool and watched it with a friend. We were both like "damn" when it was over. (Spoilers) I thought maybe it was going to be about the government testing psychoactive substances on soldiers (which supposedly did happen to some extent, or was thought about, at the very least, iirc), and Jacob dealing with lasting effects after coming back home. It was a pretty big twist when it was revealed that he never left Vietnam; pretty effective, I thought. I think it certainly could be interpreted as a commentary on combat PTSD and related issues, too. 1:12:31 Definitely agree with Adam here, too

Got to agree with Ralph on TDKR, it’s a good movie and shouldn’t be criticized over technicality and the action etc because none of that shit really matters. It’s about the ending of a trilogy that had a huge impact on cinema, and it succeeded in doing that I think.

Adum isn’t correct about the script Nolan had no plans for a third movie when Heath Ledger died
Cool, Mary and Max was already on my watchlist!
You guys should definitely do like a Halloween special featuring Rosseter from the TP channel and discuss the Silent Hill franchise.
Dark Knight Rises is partly based on Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities
Jacob's Ladder was good when I saw it back in 1991, and in my humble opinion his going home and what happens after is just a dying man's dream. There was an old Twilight Zone episode that kinda did the same thing, it's called
An Incident At Owl Creek, I think.
I still think The Dark Knight Rises is brilliant.
I liked Jacob's Ladder a lot when I watched it several years ago. I bought it on DVD in highschool and watched it with a friend. We were both like "damn" when it was over.
(Spoilers)
I thought maybe it was going to be about the government testing psychoactive substances on soldiers (which supposedly did happen to some extent, or was thought about, at the very least, iirc), and Jacob dealing with lasting effects after coming back home. It was a pretty big twist when it was revealed that he never left Vietnam; pretty effective, I thought.
I think it certainly could be interpreted as a commentary on combat PTSD and related issues, too.
1:12:31 Definitely agree with Adam here, too
