Palmdale is a city in northern Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California. The city lies in the Antelope Valley region of Southern California. The San Gabriel Mountains separate Palmdale from the city of Los Angeles to the south.
On August 24, 1962, Palmdale became the first community in the Antelope Valley to incorporate. Forty-seven years later, in November 2009, voters approved making it a charter city. Palmdale's population was 152,750 at the 2010 census, up from 116,670 at the 2000 census. Palmdale is the 34th most populous city in California. Together with its immediate northern neighbor, the city of Lancaster, the Palmdale/Lancaster urban area had an estimated population of 513,547 as of 2013
Palmdale was first inhabited by Native Americans.Populated by different cultures for an estimated 11,000 years, the Antelope Valley was a trade route for Native Americans traveling from Arizona and New Mexico to California's coast.
Spanish soldier Captain Pedro Fages explored the Antelope Valley in 1772. The opening of California to overland travel through the forbearing desert was due to Captain Juan Bautista de Anza and Father Francisco Garces, a most remarkable Spanish padre. They led a colonizing expedition including 136 settlers across the Mojave Desert from Mexico to Monterey in 1773. Later in 1776 while exploring the Valley, Garces with several Indian guides from the San Gabriel Mission recorded viewing the vast expanse of what was the El Tejon Rancheria (the Badger Ranch) of the Cuabajoy Indians. After the Shoshone Indians left the valley, immigrants from Spain and Mexico established large cattle ranches there. Then, in the late 1880s, the ranches were broken up into smaller homesteads by farmers from Germany, France and the state of Nebraska.

Lived in Palmdale my whole life until 2016. I was on 29th Street East. It was a great place to grow up, but by the early aughts, there was no denying things were going down hill. Still, can't help but feel warm inside watching this, reminds me of good times as a kid.

50's 60's and 70's. Those were my favorite Years of Living in the Antelope Valley, Palmdale. But then we got flooded with all the people from Los Angeles and surrounding areas coming into our desert and changing the landscape of the Antelope Valley. It was very sad to see so I had to leave. It has turned into such a violent place you cannot even walk down Palmdale Boulevard and feel safe. I will always just try to remember Palmdale as a small desert town like it once was. Rip Palmdale

I used to live there back in 07-09 in KB Homes over on 25th Street E if I remember correctly. I was 9 years old when we first got there. Honestly I really enjoyed it there.
I now live in the south side of Texas and compared to Palmdale I would definitely like to go back just to visit tho lol

@Cesar Delgado Lack of Gangs, quiet little town, about 10,000 population. If you didn't know the person, you knew the family. It started growing in the 80's which caused it to lose it charm by the 90's. Softball was a major sport. Summer time, It was windy and hot. The nights, it stopped blowing and the evening was pleasant The spring was the worse time as it was cold and windy. The Fall was the best time.

@@dlazo32696 Already too big. It changed in the late 90s with the gang coming in. Would not recommend the place now.
@@tonybanke3560 So what do you think the worst case scenario is? I know the area has about 400,000 people if I’m correct. Do you think it’ll reach 1 million eventually? That would be a real bummer because I love the wide open spaces and nature out here in the Antelope Valley. Despite growing the past few decades, the AV still has a small town vibe. I hope it stays that way.
This was neat! I grew up here and visited often after I moved to Arkansas (amongst other places). Glad I moved but still very nostalgic.
Also like how you got away from the not so great part pretty quickly and ended up in the better part! 😆

I live in that city, but i had to move to Bakersfield CA because of an eviction notice was put on our door of our house and we moved to an apartment in Bakersfield California.
Is the drive to Bakersfield lonely? What road did you take? I have to go there but I’m scared it’s a lonely/sketchy road and if something happens to my car nothing will be around lol

i've lived here all my life, some people are really nice and welcoming and some people are just aholes, if you are going to school here some of them are pretty good but most of them the teachers are just there for the money
The elementary teachers are really old, and the middle school teachers are middle aged, unless they are the English teacher

i use to live up there on the south east side.. looks like you know the area too. you missed Black Bird Park there are two SR-71 there and a U2 spy plane. AND the 747 space shuttle transport plane.

We never drove to Palmdale when we lived in Glendale in the late 60's and early 70's.
The air sure looks nice and clear, No Smog haha.
During the sunsets the sky becomes a rainbow, literally, red at the horizon to purple at the sky
Also if clouds are present they become pinkish orange
