- The Palmdale City Council is sending a strong message to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Thursday by passing a resolution aimed at not using the desert city in northern Los Angeles County as a dumping ground for homeless people.

As a resident of the East Palmdale area, I am already seeing the move to the area. Look out at the huge problem with old busses, Old RV's, and abandoned trailers. Spread across the desert in groups with NO water. NO sanitation, NO where to work, NO electricity, NO health care availability, just DRUGS and alcohol ! And we have the trash and filth left by them to blow about the desert like huge snowflakes! The city people come out here, and dump their old furniture, dead dogs, trash, and even old cars.
So they figure why not dump the unwanted homeless ??
they'll be gone once the weather heats up

I am a resident of Antelope Valley in past 20 years with the respect for the all humans, homeless or not, each city has to deal with their own problems, The City of Los Angeles needs to find a way to solve its problem within their city limit not the county limits.
You say that because you've never respected "the humans" living on the street enough to have a real conversation them. If you did you would find that the majority of people on the streets are not from l.a, most are not even from California. I don't agree with trying to shift the problem over to the next town, but I also don't agree that this is an "l.a only" problem, it's bigger then that.🤷♂️
Former Palmdale resident from 2012 -2013. My belief is the reason for this growing problem is lack of coordination between counties in California. This is a California problem, not a city issue. Going to the bank a decade ago in Palmdale people were smoking meth behind the BofA.
In 90 days, all the homeless of LA County can get dumped up in the Antelope Valley. Watch. Shit and trash everywhere. Huge narco problem.
As a current resident of Los Angeles living in Hollywood and getting ready to move to Palmdale within the next month, I would lose my mind if the homeless followed me there.

As a Palmdale resident I agree we need to stop the trash coming to our city it’s not like it used to be I grew up here since the 1990! And it’s so bad now!! Not a small town anymore !!!
yeah i moved here 15 years ago and it was nice, not alot of people. now its as overpopulated and expensive as anything else.

As a resident of the AV for over 20 years I have noticed more and more homelessness as well as crime associated with it. It’s sad to see that L.A. can’t figure out how to help the people living on the streets down there. Regardless or not, it doesn’t give them the right to push it off on us. I want the streets here to be safe for my children and myself to walk if we should choose to, not to get hounded by the disregard individuals sent up here to sit by the off ramps and stores asking to be helped. It’s not our responsibility to take care of everyone when it’s hard enough to take care of our own.

@@metoyerfamily2232 I'm aware but since their resource centers like social services are overwhelmed. They go and dump them out there so those people who need help can be someone else's problem. They just put them on the Metrolink or Amtrak and off they go.

Lancaster is going downhill fast. Homeless spreading like cancer. At least the city has been fairly quick about responding to graffiti removal requests as gangs try to spread out and mark their territory. Usually painted over in a day or two once reported and on city controlled property.
Rex is CORRUPT.
Maybe he shouldn't close down things that assist homeless people like he did years ago...

They're finally saying something. The second I heard Bass was working on a plan to combat homelessness, my first thought was, "they better not ship them up here"! They've been doing this for years. Just giving train tickets to the end of the line, (which is the AV) and letting them/us figure it out! Just last month, a friend of mine and her dad were brutally murdered in broad daylight by a homeless person... They gotta fix their own problems!
Lancaster is already much worse than Palmdale. If this were to pass this place would be a warzone. Very glad to hear our council members stand up for us
Lancaster is not much worse. Yes it's homeless, but it's not tents everywhere. I drive 62 miles from Lancaster into Los Angeles Valley section to the homeless shelter 5 days a week .
Glad they voted to say HELL NO to brining more drama to the AV areas. I'm in Palmdale for a bit longer then moving out of state but just shifting homeless to any city without the facility and housing being already built is a Strong NO for most people. There is a lot of open land in the Antelope Valley areas, and I can see some of that being used to build just like they keep building these over priced track homes lol!! Bass better make it happen quick whatever it is...

Griffi Park is big enough to build 1000s of sheds and put them there, close to hospitals and services, keep them close to home .

When any hospital in Los Angeles discharges a homeless patient and drops them off somewhere in the city, the Los Angeles city government is outraged and goes after the hospital for "dumping" people. Now they want to do the same thing.

Solve the issue of your city in your city , many people moving from Los Angeles to Palmdale worked hard to buy a home or just to even relocate out here for a better living and to get away from all of the issues in the Los Angeles communities just so someone can bring this now is acting as a child and sweeping all the dirt under the bed smh

I’m so sorry! My mom moved our family out in2005 to Texas and I lived off ave R at creekside apt. I’m 35 now and it sux to see my home so bad off

I lived in Palmdale for 12 yrs and it was cool to live there mostly. Sadly Palmdale was already descending into desert ghetto when I left. The current homeless situation in the county doesn't help

What they need is a special hospital to get help so they can get off the drugs and abuse. Simple as that. But they say that’s mean…how is it mean when you trying to help them?
Simple as that. You sound like you live in a box. You should get out. There are plenty of down on their luck folks struggling. That do not drink smoke or have SEVERE mental issues. The government wants us to see homelessness and disparity. Keeps the Sheeple in line working and paying taxes

The problem with that is most homeless people do not want to stop using the drugs & enjoy their way of life. How are you gonna make someone do something they don't want to do? Even if you force them into drug rehab, how are you gonna guarantee they stay off the drugs when they get out of rehab?

We have enough on our plate with the homeless population we already have. I've had three broken down RVs in front of our apartments.
I have lived in the AV area for over 40 years and before that Edwards AFB so my whole life….., Yes it needs to get better. We need to address homelessness, mental health issues, crime and our schools.
Were not "sending" them to palmdale, We are pushing them out.

It’s not a overnight quick fix for an issue this big, An every area in LA County is having unhoused individuals that need housing, I lived in LA most of my life an I saw it get worse over time so thats why we moved, Been up here in Palmdale after 11 years an it seem as if it’s getting more crowded already so good, bad or indifferent just have to deal with what’s to come seem like city counsel is on it.

That is alarming first to understand both points but to as have been a homeless man with mental health and I moved to Palmdale I know treatment and love I was able to get back to works of life I am truly grateful for Tarzan treatment program and now I'm leaving Palmdale back valley with a voucher and a job in treatment you can't close places or think movie ever one it's been a problem long time and need be show working love at home state first help one he may help 5 his buddies as one to say it's a spiritual healing and someone with moral and nice drew me back to want to have a natural life u know to know these people trust has been broken in the streets god bless America and the world I'm keep moving and letting a ear time im happy today
There should be emergency measurements enacted to help remedy our homeless crisis as fast as possible and be able to benefit everyone involved
