FalseSwipeGaming, I got an idea I would like to get feedback from you however I wrote this on the Misdreavus video. As your aware you have had different music and background colour than usual and it is nice to see a new idea, the same shade that was used on the icon image and I got thinking since you work a fair amount on the icon images why not use the same colour scheme on the background of that pokémons video instead of the boring blue? Another idea to make things more characteristic is with including their roar when you see their sprite every now and then. I hope this helps you with more ideas for an aesthetic approach. Btw the trick or treat joke was great wordplay!

Thank you very much Patrons and FSG for giving us this gift. Sandslash is my #1 favorite Pokemon and I'm super happy to see it get some love here. During X and Y I was practically begging Game Freak to give Sandslash a Mega Evolution but that obviously never happened. We can only dream of what could have been with that but we did get an Alolan form which I love so I suppose I can't complain. I would just like to once again say thank you, thank you, thank you False Swipe Gaming for this gift.
HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! YES! My little guy finally got covered! Thank you *SO* much!! I knew months of suggesting Sandslash on every video would get you to cover him.
Alolan Sandslash: Does decently well and even has some nice placements in tourneys Arcanine: *completely and thuroghly obliterates it* Alolan Sandslash: I came here to have a good time and honestly I feel so attacked right now
One thing I've certainly noticed about these videos is that most Gen 1 mons have been thoroughly destroyed by power creep (even fairly early on), so whether or not that's the reason we've seen so much Kanto rebooting over the years I appreciate it giving the lovable mons that started it all at least a chance at redemption.
It should be noted that regular Sandslash had a brief moment of excellence in SM NU, when Gigalith and its Sand Stream was legal. During that time, SD Sand Rush Sandslash was one of the scariest threats in the tier that contributed to Gigalith eventually getting banned. Afterwards it went back to being terrible, but hey, it did something.
Sandslash is one of my favorites, no question. It's design is bad ass and the way it moves in the episode when Ash catches his cyndaquil is agile and awesome. Ya it lost but it still looked really cool
I remember Sandslash from that episode where Onix is raging at Ash's gang and Bruno. It's because a Sandslash was hiding inside it's rocks. It's like one of the first episodes of season 1 I think
The gen 5 VGC team information is actually incorrect. I chose Sandslash over Excadrill because this was shortly after he got Sand Rush from the dream world. The correct team is T-tar, Garchomp, Cresselia, Ludicolo, Thundurus, and of course Sandslash. Sadly I wasn't really able to bring him into many games and honestly he did underperform compared to the rest of the team but I'm happy I was able to represent him a bit. I know this will probably die in the comments section but there's a tidbit of information for those that see this.
I remember the alolan form had a weird niche on a fairly common UU team with snow warning Aurorus, setting up Aurora Veil for a team of belly drum sweepers. I saw the team a lot for the short time it was popular. There was a z belly drum azumarill and a belly drum kommo o.
I love the design of Sandslash and will adamantly find a way to make him somewhat viable on my teams. And I always nickname my Sandslash "Crypto". You see, I had a very weird bootleg "pokemon" game as a kid called pokémon diamond (no, not the actual official pokémon diamond) that my dad got me while traveling abroad. The starter "pokémon" you get there is called Crypto, and is very reminiscent of Sandslash. Turns out the game was not pokémon at all, but an obscure game series called Telefang.
I really love sandslash it's so cute! I truly wish it could have been better... (Btw just letting ya'll know there is a community tab... You might wanna vote there for the pokemon you want to be in next week video)
Coming back to this video, a word of advice about facing Lance the first time around in HGSS: Sand Veil + Bright Powder + Sand Storm = five turns of more or less ruining any chance of Dragon Rush hitting you, despite Lance spamming it. Sandslash can actually take one or two if there's a flub up. After Sandstorm goes up, just mass spam Shadow Claw and wear it down alongside the chip damage from Sandstorm while fishing for critical hits. I actually beat one Dragonite and dented another using this method before Sandslash fell. Give it a try sometime.
@@luiseduardo8806 It's glaring, but I forgot to also mention Sandslash being Pure Ground also helps with the fact at least one Dragonite carries Thunder and there's so much Thunder Wave spam from his team that blanking both only further drives Lance to spam Dragon Rush. With Bright Powder and Sand Veil/Snow Cloak, all moves operate at *72% of their normal Accuracy.* Ex. 100 Accuracy is now 72 Accuracy If I recall right, at least one Dragonite had either Ice Beam or Blizzard. I could be wrong there, so be careful. Look it up to be sure. Mamoswine could in theory run Snow Cloak with Hail for the same result with Bright Powder. It's got the natural bulk to make it function. But there is the consideration that Aqua Tail and any Fire moves from the Dragonites or Charizard make it harder to work out over Sandslash. Dugtrio doesn't have the bulk to make this work, so that's out.
Or you can sweep his whole team with a Miltank's Def Curl Rollout given the whole team hates Rock and Miltank outruns over half of his team(the Def curl also makes it so Intimidate doesn't turn your KOs into ranges)
One thing to take notice of is that during the reign of gogalith in NU, sandslaah and stoutland were actually quite the formidable offensive powerhouses. Sure, it fell apart faster than amber2 when gigalith got the ban hammer, but I think it was something worth noting
I've always used Sandslash since gen 1, it's always been my fav. I hate how the rampant power creep and game freaks unwillingness to properly balance leave so many decent pokemon in the dust so the same dozen can continue to reign supreme also he's always been cool and cute so STFU
He might not be popular in licensed pokemon games, but I can assure you that anyone that played pokemon Outlaw has a special place in their heart for him
I started to love Sandslash from a Soul Silver playthrough, i couldn't get my usual Marowak so i picked up a Sandslash at the Safari Zone rather late into the game, i expected it just to be a bit of fodder and someone i could teach Strength to, but man did it pull through for me so many times.
I’ve always liked Sandslash, especially it’s Alolan Form. It’s not the greatest Pokémon stat wise, but it can be if you use it right. It also has such a unique design.
My favorite Pokemon finally got his video!! It was worth the wait having him be my patreon list pick. Like Ruiz and Gallade, Slash got postponed slightly but I'm just glad to have such a slickly edited and well written episode just acknowledging my Boii 😭😍 I figured Slash never amounted to too much in competitive, but I was surprised at his effectiveness earlier on, and I figured sand rush would've been more beneficial. When Alolan Slash was announced a few summers back, I was hype. Sandshrew was my first ever shiny. It was already a top pick of mine beforehand. So when we got an Ice/Steel type variant, I was excited. Great video guys! And, Kel, I'm hopping in next time I see you have an arena up. I won't stay long, i just wanna get my butt handed to me real quick 😅😅
I never realised how useful a Steel and Ice type can be early and mid game until I got a Sandshrew while wonder trading. I even continued to depend on it way into late game.
I was going to post a comment going "Sandslash wasn't popular cute or cool say what" but it warms the cockles of my heart to see the comment section's aaaall over that.
I used Sandslash in 4th Gen OU after Garchomp was banned to Ubers. Most players used Donphan at the time, but I found Sandslash speed made him a much better Rapid Spin-er and could even beat Donphan that was not running Seed Bomb, given his superior Speed stat and investment. After Sandslash received Sand Rush, he more exclusively became a Tyranitar killer for me, as he could easily out speed, even take a hit, and OHKO with Brick Break certain builds. He is definitely underpowered in today's OU with so many Ultra Beast, Megas, and former Ubers legendaries running around, but he is still a decent Pokemon if played right.
@@yesicollectwarhammerfiguri9473 I have played Pokemon since way before Showdown was a thing and I really only play it for fun now. My current Elo is not reflective of my history with the game, as I have been well above 1300 in the past, not that it matters, as Sandslash being a Tyranitar killer is not common at all, but still known thing nonetheless.
Since gen 1, Sandslash was always my favourite. I used to destroy my cousins with my Sandslash Bruticus back in those days. It's so sad to see how it's fallen.
And in Gen 8, regular Sandslash finds itself in PU, where it is absolutely top tier, with incredible stats for the tier and lots of versatility. It even has a niche in RU as a sand sweeper!
I know it's not majorly good, but Sandslash is still one of my favourite Gen 1 pokemon and one of my favourite Ground Types. It's Alolan Form I love even more. I just think they look really cool.
I have some great memories of using Sandslash in my first playthrough of Blue. Some kind of moveset like dig, rockslide, cut and strength or the like. I'll even admit I only used it because of that one episode of the anime but it did its job at the time, and was my 3rd longest lasting member after Blastoise, and Raichu
"nintendo's obsession with breathing new life into gen 1 for some reason" Uh dude, you even said so yourself that the old pokemon can't keep up anymore. Did you ever stop to think that that is why they're taking a stab at rebooting Gen 1 mons? IDK, it just seemed like a very short sighted comment.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention anything at all about Alolan Sandslash's role as a Veil setter in the higher tiers since you mentioned its role as a niche Sand Rush sweeper in Gen 5 OU (which probably worked way worse lol.) Enjoyed the video though. I always get excited for Sunday because of these. Thanks for making them! :)

The problem with sandslash and so many other interesting pokemon is power creep destroys any use they may have
Early releases like this are always okay! Thanks!
Yes, finally. I love it's design. Had a sandslash Halloween costume when I was young.
I went as a Cubone 😊😊
Lol, I feel like I went as a Pokemon for Halloween, bit just can't remember which one.
Whoa, I hope you took a photo of that. That sounds amazing!
Hopeless Gamer I had a ditto
Sandshrew & Sandslash are my favourite Pokémon, ever since I saw a documentary on the Pangolin ^^ they’re so cute and cool at the same time and would be an amazing companion IRL
I don't remember why, but ever since I first seen it in the anime, it became my most favorite Pokémon ever. No other Pokémon has caught my heart yet and most likely never will.
It’s nice to hear that Mark Jackson went from coaching the Golden State Warriors several years ago to competing in VGC.
Wow, sandslash is my favorite pokemon and i totally didn't expect you to have a video on it. Thats awesome
I love Sandslash
Same and do you know how useful Sandslash, he's awesome, cute, and the grandfather of TM moles
My favorite generation I ground type.
Im glad that you realised that comment section is about talking about the video/pokemon and not for begging which one they should cover next.
Alolan Sandslash: Does decently well and even has some nice placements in tourneys
Arcanine: *completely and thuroghly obliterates it*
Alolan Sandslash: I came here to have a good time and honestly I feel so attacked right now
One thing I've certainly noticed about these videos is that most Gen 1 mons have been thoroughly destroyed by power creep (even fairly early on), so whether or not that's the reason we've seen so much Kanto rebooting over the years I appreciate it giving the lovable mons that started it all at least a chance at redemption.
I really like sandslah, don't disrespect it. It's adorable and usable.
I really like Sandslash, unfortunately it sucks in competitive
Sandslash had a special place on my Gold/Silver team. Always loved the little pangolin.
Thank You Patreons! I have been waiting so long for Sandslash!
Sandslash was my favorite evo line from gen1, I've used it whenever it's available
My name says it all. Even if it wasn't great, I still love Sandslash. Nice video.
Anarchist Sandslash what about your profile picture
pokemon don't get blessed by an alolan form, they get outclassed by it making their original form even more garbage
facts
Unless you're Dugtrio. Not having Arena Trap hasn't helped its Alolan form.
Yeah proof of this is how aloatrio had dropped to PU and so did duggy when arena trap was bannex
Banned*
Regular Golem is also technically better than Alolan Golem, even if Alolan Golem has a small niche in OU.
no discussion of Aurorus+Slash as a strategy in Gen 7? That veil strat saw a good amount of usage as high as UU
I'm surprised you didn't talk about the Aurorus Alolan Sandslash Veil team, that was an interesting fad I feel deserved a mention
Yeah.
Hail teams are quite bad because of the shared weaknesses, but sharing x4 weakness is crazy
I've had a Sandslash in practically every Pokémon game I've ever played, thanks to Sandshrew. I love them!
I really love sandslash it's so cute! I truly wish it could have been better... (Btw just letting ya'll know there is a community tab... You might wanna vote there for the pokemon you want to be in next week video)
Coming back to this video, a word of advice about facing Lance the first time around in HGSS:
Sand Veil + Bright Powder + Sand Storm = five turns of more or less ruining any chance of Dragon Rush hitting you, despite Lance spamming it.
Thanks!
100 Accuracy is now 72 Accuracy
If I recall right, at least one Dragonite had either Ice Beam or Blizzard.
That mood when Sandshrew is your favorite Pokemon
Sandslash will always have a special place in my heart, thanks to TFS' Leaf Green Nuzlocke.
Sandslash is the coolest, cutest, strongest, and overall best Pokemon ever, and there's nothing that can change my mind *^*9
You love sonic
One thing to take notice of is that during the reign of gogalith in NU, sandslaah and stoutland were actually quite the formidable offensive powerhouses. Sure, it fell apart faster than amber2 when gigalith got the ban hammer, but I think it was something worth noting
I've always used Sandslash since gen 1, it's always been my fav. I hate how the rampant power creep and game freaks unwillingness to properly balance leave so many decent pokemon in the dust so the same dozen can continue to reign supreme
also he's always been cool and cute so STFU
@Chris Anderson To bad it dies if something so much as looks at it funny
That's the good thing about smogon tiers, it makes so much more pokemon viable.
Every Sunday morning I wake up to these videos & it starts the last day of my freedom from work for the week perfectly. Tyvm!
I looove Alola Sandslash🦔❄️💙
Fax
I've been waiting years for this video. Sandslash has just about always been my favorite. Being a bit of an underdog has made it more fun to use. :)
Excadrill is everything Sandslash wanted to be. Change my mind
He might not be popular in licensed pokemon games, but I can assure you that anyone that played pokemon Outlaw has a special place in their heart for him
Sandslash is definitely one of my favourite pokemon
I remember the very first shiny i ever encountered was a sandshrew that i immediately evolved. Sandslash will always hold a special place in my heart.
I am always surprised how slow sandslash is. He looks like he should be faster.
So we gonna ignore the dude who was Ballsy enough to use Unown?
That just means we don't know what Pokémon this was. Team Preview wasn't around yet.
@@gengarzilla1685 thanks for clarifying that...
I should've known better...
Nobodies got Balls that big...
SSB Goku I WOULD love to see someone actually get results with Unown in VGC. If Pachi can, the strongest Movie 3 Pokémon can do so too!
I’ve always liked Sandslash, especially it’s Alolan Form. It’s not the greatest Pokémon stat wise, but it can be if you use it right. It also has such a unique design.
I actually like Sandslash, as niche as it may be.
My favorite Pokemon finally got his video!!
It was worth the wait having him be my patreon list pick. Like Ruiz and Gallade, Slash got postponed slightly but I'm just glad to have such a slickly edited and well written episode just acknowledging my Boii 😭😍
I figured Slash never amounted to too much in competitive, but I was surprised at his effectiveness earlier on, and I figured sand rush would've been more beneficial.
6:02 Well obviously, only one hedgehog can be the fastest thing ever.
(And no, it isn't Alolan Sandslash)
Dark Bishop J excadrill under sand rush ?????????
@@eyadhindi6920
ED's more like a mole
I never realised how useful a Steel and Ice type can be early and mid game until I got a Sandshrew while wonder trading. I even continued to depend on it way into late game.
I played through Ultra Moon with an Alolan Sandslash named Sanders. We're best friends.
I really love Sandslash, it's my second favorite pokemon, and almost in every region I always had him in my team.
Is no one gonna talk about Asher K. using unown for VGC 13 at 9:03
I believe they put Unown there because that pokemon was never revealed.
Psycho3418 oh my bad hahaha thanks lol I would have lost my mind if someone actually brought one to a competitive tournament
Raffy Rosas no they put it there cuz they didn’t know 6th member
What a legend
I was going to post a comment going "Sandslash wasn't popular cute or cool say what" but it warms the cockles of my heart to see the comment section's aaaall over that.
Speaking of Alolan forms, can we just mention how adorable Alolan Sandshrew is?
it looks cool too but 4x fire oop
@@grand7450 AND Fighting.
Then again, Ice and Rock are the only types that Steel can't really make a "best defensive combo of that type" 'Mon out of.
Yes, it is my favourite ice type pokemon and probably my second favourite pokemon in general. I just adore this little rodent
@@light0221 What is your number 1 gave Pokemon?
@@derekfoxwit3058 hard choice. Probably natu line.
sandshrew alola is also banned from nubl since both of its abilities are banned, so by technicality its banned from NU
He's decent in his home of untiered.
Reminder that working for you at
@@yesicollectwarhammerfiguri9473 I have played Pokemon since way before Showdown was a thing and I really only play it for fun now.
People still don't get that you gotta vote in the community tab? It is literally in the video... so yeah, vote there.
Appearantly, you can't go to the community tab if you're on an iPad...
Which makes sense, because who the hell uses an iPad nowadays?
YUS. My favorite gen 1 Pokémon finally gets a video!
It's okay, Sandslash, I still love you.
Vote for Miltank on the Community Tab! #DairyTroupe
And in Gen 8, regular Sandslash finds itself in PU, where it is absolutely top tier, with incredible stats for the tier and lots of versatility. It even has a niche in RU as a sand sweeper!
This was pretty sad, sandslash is my favorite ground type...
How good was magcargo actually?
It was lived up to it's name of usage. Horrendous pokemon of all time
I know it's not majorly good, but Sandslash is still one of my favourite Gen 1 pokemon and one of my favourite Ground Types. It's Alolan Form I love even more. I just think they look really cool.
I can't use the community link cuz I use a tablet.
I loved Sandslash back in gen 2, I love it's design.
I have shiny sandslash in pkmn crystal whit dig slash earthquake and toxic
I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention anything at all about Alolan Sandslash's role as a Veil setter in the higher tiers since you mentioned its role as a niche Sand Rush sweeper in Gen 5 OU (which probably worked way worse lol.) Enjoyed the video though. I always get excited for Sunday because of these. Thanks for making them! :)
Notification SQUAD
How good was FALSE SWIPE GAMING actually?
Awesome
He’s no magikarp.
For that to happen he has to have a gen where he falls short and that has never happened
The freakin' MAGA kid? Are you trying to piss people off?
@@TempestMauve he didnt really do anything tho
I've always loved sandslash actually. I've used him in so many playthroughs. He is in my top 5 favorite Gen 1 Pokémon.
