Also scheduled to have my own MRI Cardiac Stress Profusion test, As an ex-Hospital Porter, who'd have thought with how fit most of us Porters were, and the 1000s of Patients taken for this very same test, that I would end up needing the very same MRI done.

Had one last week to investigate Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy. It took just over 50 minutes (probably the longest 50 minutes of my life), because the head set had no metal parts, the piped music was very muffled and hardly audible. Over all it was not that uncomfortable, but my backside went numb, I had cramp in my calves and a severe back ache. I think all up I had to hold my breath 50 or so times

I had my MRI of the heart literally today.
Nothing discomforting, just follow the instructions when to breathe in, out, stop breathing and breathe again. EKG monitor is placed, coils over the chests too. A cannula is placed in your vein and the contrast was administered later on, that's the only thing that might get discomforting
1. If you have thin veins
2. If the technician is not very good with it.
I didn't have a headset while i was in, but even so, the noises although somewhat loud, they were not that bad.
I was about an hour inside the MRI.
It was comfortable as much as it can be.

I’ve been diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve,had a cMRI last week and waiting now for the report/results.
Scheduled tomorrow, how long will it take for D.O.T. scoring blood flow etc after having bypass surgery?
Having one done next week to assess a pericardial cyst on the R-atrium. Get a closer look--I struggle to hold my breath while lying down--then appears something will be lying on my chest and so this should be interesting.

I had a cMRI last October showing mild patchy LGE on the epicardial basal inferior wall and LGE of pericardium, was given a diagnosis of pericarditis. T1 and T2 were normal. My cardiologist insists I have no scarring and that I'll make a full recovery but I'm confused by the presence of LGE. I had a nuclear stress test showing what I was told could either have been a minor scar or an imaging artifact. I've also had two echocardiograms 6 months apart with the first showing a borderline LVEF, stage 1 diastolic dysfunction, and pulmonary hypertension and the second being normal apart from a borderline dilated left atrium. Should I trust that there is no scarring based on how they're interpreting my MRI? It took seeing 3 cardiologists to get an MRI ordered and a pericarditis diagnosis. I'm 29 with a healthy BMI and was very active prior to having issues.
Can you do a video explaining what is High take is on an ECG there no textbooks on this matter. Why and how can this happen ?

I had one recently as I experience random left under arm and left chest pain. I thought I needed and so requested a CT angiogram fearing stenosis (?) of my blood vessels. My specialist recommended a Stress Cardiac MRI. As I understand it the MRI shows if the heart is getting enough blood now, but cannot show if there is stenosis which could become a problem. The CT shows the level of blockage but not how that’s affecting the heart? Have I got that right?

I work with two cardiologists and neither think a cardiac MRI would be helpful in reviewing my heart health. I find that hard to believe and was wondering why???
Does your network of hospitals offer the cardiac MRI?
@@ryanandrews3983 I'm sure it's available, and I'd be willing to pay out of pocket if the information was useful. They just thought it wasn't applicable to my situation. They consider the nuclear stress test to be the gold standard and one even laughed when I asked about an MRI.

That’s is very interesting. I want & need to be diagnosed but so far MRI’s haven’t helped. I have a pinched or trapped nerve. I learned of a new test called a “neurography” at MUSC that is capable of showing all of the nerves in the human body and will also show any nerves that are affected like pinched or trapped. My family doctor didn’t want to write order for me to have the test. He sent me to a neurologist and he refused to send me for the test. The neurologist worked for MUSC but in a different town than the main campus hospital. His NP told me they would not send me anywhere for tests other than their own facilities. She also claimed that the neurography would not show anything more than an MRI would show. I have a problem believing that after reading about this test. My insurance would cover the test. They know I’ve lost over five years of my life because of the nerve pain problem. I don’t know but I suspect it’s about money, ego & lack of empathy. I hope you can get the test you want and need. Probably need to go to a different cardiologist.

Proper MR- imaging of the vessels (arteries AND veins) of the heart itself may be as important as the other imaging options outlined in this video. Thanks for posting. Viewing in 2024.
I have two coronary artery stents. I would now like to know if I have continuing narrowing of coronary arteries. Would regular cMRI scans be recommended to monitor coronary arteries prospectively? Thanks.
Regular cardiac MRI scans is not used to monitor coronary arteries, cardiac CT would be better for this if clinically indicated.
Thank you. I appreciate that feedback. I guess the problem is that I am healthy, with no diabetes, obesity, or hypertension, and my LDL is now in the normal range. Only risk factor over the last 10 years seems to have been that chronically high LDL Heart attack occured after an hour of intense exercise a few months ago without any indication of imminent risk. Post-exercise treadmill ECG/echo and echocardiogram gave good results a month ago. It would be nice now to have a metric that showed whether or not any of the relevant coronary arteries are continuing to narrow. In the meantime I avoid intense exercise! All the best. Why would somebody with atrial fibrillation be scheduled for a cardiac MRI?
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the commonest heart rhythm disorder. Cardiac MRI may be requested to assess atrial remodelling and fibrosis as well as to guide potential treatment strategies.
how accurate detect ischemic?
Are cardiac mri safe for TAVR patients? The TAVR has metal in it. Thanks.
Valve replacement is usually MRI safe but the department will have a safety check-list to ensure it is ok for you to have the scan. Just make sure you have details of the type of valve you have incase they ask (usually in your clinic letters)

Hello. When you say upright I assume you mean with the person standing? If so, then no this is not available for cardiac.

Is a cardiac MRI able to detect calcified arteries in the heart? for what the Americans call a coronary calcium score. Which is better for this test CT scan or MRI?
Cardiac CT scan is better for this. I have done a separate video about it if you're interested.

Yes, it is possible to have a cardiac MRI scan without contrast. I would suggest to discuss with your doctor regarding the indication as it will require a consult.

Doctor, I have been having mild on and off pain in the left area of the chest where my heart is. It is mild but for over 6 months now it has been slowly increasing in intensity. Is it a heart or chest problem?

@@catiasofiaalves4029 not really, but I started living more healthier, cut off seed oils fried food, alcohol etc. Started exercising, taking more of alkaline foods and now I feel just fine

I had an MRI scan and they said the results would appear within a week or ten days, but I have now waited a month and the results of the examination have not come. Does this mean that I am suffering from something serious?
I wouldn't worry yourself if there is a delay. I'd suggest to maybe contact the doctor who referred you for the scan for an update as the report will usually go to the referrer first. Good luck and hope you hear back from them soon!
@@TheHeartDoctor this my result's Adam has had an MRI and it is completely normal. Normal systolic function in the right and left ventricles. There is no evidence of ARVC and no signs of myocarditis or storage disease. No inflation. There is no contrast loading at all.

Why they give injection during the scan ? Injection is so hard and feeling so hot 🥵 and patient near to vomit 🤮 during the scan !
The contrast agent is used as it helps to diagnose certain conditions by making them look brighter on the scan so the correct diagnosis is made.
I had one yesterday I fell asleep twice in there lol
