What console? What are you doing with overrides? I am about to release a new (clarified) version because I get a lot of these questions (no offense to you)
fortnite requires a series console for that - as fortnight has a toggle in the settings that will only appear on the series consoles. but otherwise - yes. most games will just run at 120 once you enable this - games like fortnite you may have to go into the settings of the game to turn it on aswell.
This means your TV Doesn not support 120 hz, or you've chosen too high of colour depth or resolution. Check my new updated video on this for more detail.
So my tv says unsupported settings when I do 120 refresh, but it does allow me to switch from default to HDMI and from default 1080p to 1440p. Should I just roll with that then? I assume it's still better than the default auto detect override setting?
Yes you should be able to set up to 120 HZ on any Xbox, But just know that older hardware will struggle (or be blocked by the Devs) to display at this rate. most older hardware is locked to 30-60 fps, But you should still be able to turn the HZ up to 120 assuming you have a compatible display connected - otherwise the option will never appear.
If you listened to what i say in the video - if your tv doesn't SUPPORT 4k this will do nothing but cause you issues. make sure your hardware is CAPABLE before changing this. If your monitor supports 4k, then you can go ahead and make the changes and ignore the warning.
You may be able to enable 120hz, but older hardware is usually locked to 30 or 60 fps by developers due to hardware limitations. You will still get a higher refresh rate, but when playing certain games, it may revert to 30 or 60.
I just want to say that this is not fake it actually works I looked for like 1 hour just to find one that actually works I am going to subscribe and like
I actually just discovered this on my own recently, got a Samsung 4k smart tv at 60hrz with no capability of going to 120hrz, now hears where things get weird is whenever I select the HDMI one where I have my xbox plugged into, at the top of the screen it will show what my display is at (4k 60hrz and some other words in there can't remember) because that's obviously what I have my xbox at, but when I discovered this I quickly assumed my console was just forcing 120 on the tv but because my tv can't actually do 120hrz (atleast as far as I know tech wise and when I bought the tv there definitely was no 120hrz badge on the box, but when I did this and selected HDMI 1 on my tv, the resolution, fps thingy at the top of the tv actually showed 120hrz, granted I can only now use my xbox at 1080p although the 1440p option is there the console tells me that 1440p isn't supported while at 120hrz, now is this some bug with my tv or is my tv actually playing at 120hrz when I thought for the last 2 years of owing it I always assumed it was 60hrz and when I even search my tv model online, everything says that it's only 60hrz???
Some TVs allow you to select 120hz despite not displaying it correctly. My hisense 4k tv lets me run 120hz at 1080p but it still looks the same as 60hz
Your TV may be able to set a higher refresh rate at a lower resolution regardless of your console BUT older hardware may not be able to make use of it. You are also limited sometimes by in-game settings which are sometimes locked by the developers on older hardware. Newer consoles may have extra options allowing you to run a higher FPS making full use of your Refresh rate. Please keep in mind while refresh rate and FPS are closely related, they are not the same thing. Assuming your TV supports it, all consoles should be able to do 120 refresh, but that doesn't necessarily mean you will get 120fps. As for the HDMI question, some tvs have one hdmi port that runs faster than the others. This is usually the first port (port 1). If you have a display port, getting a hdmi to display port cable instead of hdmi will increase your chances of success as DP runs much faster than hdmi. If you have any other questions please don't be afraid to ask. Hope I clarified some of your questions :) thanks for watching!
Plays the game at 120 frames per second but only shows you 60hz if your tv will say on the box or the label which is the highest Hz but most of the time if it’s 60hz it’s just showing more fps which gives you better input lag so it’s good to use the 120hz
@@darthe1337 yeah I do have an Xbox one, Microsoft needs to focus on older versions for people who don’t have the money for such things. Company’s only focus on new ones not older versions.
It's physically impossible, as older hardware lacks the power to do much above 30fps, hence 60hz being the highest option on older hardware. It wasn't always like this, but due to unstable gameplay aswell as crashes on older hardware, they don't allow this. My best advice as I know how tight money can be myself sometimes - is lookout on your buy and sell groups, eBay, or even local retailers for sales on a series X/S. I've seen them sell as low as 175 CAD.
i have a question, I play with a monitor and on xbox series s but when i try it its too fuzzy, i tried almost other things, but in doesnt works. Can each person help me please?
You didn't change your resolution back to 1080p. Make sure you pur your resolution back to 1080p after changing your HZ to 120 otherwise your picture will be small/fuzzy
If it doesn't work for any reason, it's usually the monitor (or any capture devices your console may be plugged into). All xboxs can run a refresh rate of 120 @ 1080p, I have personally tested this over the past few months just to be sure I wasn't misleading anybody
All tvs can differ. It's possible yours does not support this mode. Try a few different settings before giving up, it may work on another mode! Hope this helps.
they may have removed the option for that console as well as the original as 95% of games will only run at 30fps on that old of hardware. the original s struggles to keep 30fps.
I don’t get it it’s not working for me I looked up every video on this, my monitor is 144hz 1080p and I have an Xbox series s but no matter what I do I can’t run Fortnite on 120 fps
When my capture card isn't plugged in the 120hz option works, but when I have my capture card plugged in and I try to switch the refresh rate 120hz, the monitor turns off for 30 seconds and then when it turns back on it stays at 60hz and I can't figure out how to have 120hz with a capture card plugged in and my capture is a hd60 S
This means your capture card doesn't support 120hz. I also had this issue and bought a Asus TUF Gaming "capture box" #CU4K30 and it supports all this and more. You may need to upgrade your capture card in order to enable this.
Also, ensure you arent pressing ANY buttons once your screen goes black. after 15 seconds it will go to the previous setting. if you've clicked "A" whilst the screen was black you likely clicked the button saying "keep settings" hence why it never returned back to normal. this can be reset via the method shown in my other video.
Watch my safe mode video. You can reset your settings there, just be sure to only remove settings. If you click the wrong button, you will wipe your console
@Damian-uw6wi therefore, your monitor cannot do 120 @1080. Or you've chosen an incorrect resolution (OR you set the color depth too high, which some tvs have trouble with) Try lowering your color depth in the overrides section, and try again. If it doesn't work, turn pc rgb back to default, color depth all the way down, 1080p, and 120hz. If that STILL doesn't work, then it's your TV.
This is normal. Once clicking confirm wait up to 20 seconds for the screen to reappear. Usually it only takes 2-3 seconds, but if it is incompatible it will revert within 20 seconds to previous settings. Once clicking confirm DO NO PRESS ANYTHING until you can see your screen again - otherwise you may accidentally click "accept" while your screen is black resulting in having to reset your console.
I Will Admit, I have not tested this. Personally I don't have a love for this game lol... That being said it may be limited by the developers even if you've followed this guide. Games like Fortnight, and PUBG for example have options which allow you to enable the full response/refresh rate allowable for your console/monitor. Nothing is stopping you from using the full refresh rate - but you may encounter issues if your not using a monitor or tv that supports these settings due to the fact that it is locked by default to us "end users". If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
@Tmffmush vsync locks your frame rate to the monitor (adaptive like gsync or amd overdrive are similar but not as aggressive - these I would use if possible)
YEP ! Hz yes, fps no. Older hardware should be able to select 120HZ - BUT you'll still be restricted to the 30-60 fps cap on the console itself - therefore negating the improvement. Its best to try this one the s/x & Series S/X consoles rather than the original xbox one.
Usually messing with video fidelity and overscan can make it appear. I personally have mine set to hdmi. Keep in mind though, just because your enabling 120hz doesn't necessarily mean your xbox will output at that rate (in your case, this is true as your on older hardware as developers tend to lock it to 30 or 60 on these older models). But all that being said, yes - it is still possible. My advice if what I mentioned above doesn't help, try another hdmi port on your monitor/TV.
It should, but your fps will be limited by developers. That console usually runs games around 30fps, maximum 60. Meanwhile, you should still be able to enable 120hz within the dashboard of the xbox. If you have any capture cards plugged in, remove them and try again. Also try different hdmi ports (or a display port if you have the correct cable) and it may solve your issue. Sometimes the first/last hdmi is different than the others.
Thanks man. I use my BENQ 144hz monitor and was getting so frustrated I couldn’t take advantage of that with my Xbox. This video was straight to the point, quick, and full of all the info needed to make this work.
I watched a different tutorial which didn’t explain the override thing and I thought my tv couldn’t run 120 fps, but this vid helped out. Thanks 🙏🙏
Anytime 😊
Will I’ll be able to switch hdmi like usual or will it make things dificult
What?
My moniter turns of and when I tern it back on it goes back to 60 fps 1080 res
please watch my new version of this video, as i cover this.
Bro my tv have the 1080p and 120hz but when i change to 120 the screen black out and back the its original state wich is 60 hz whats the solution?
@@adamchouayebi8944 lower bit per pixel
Is 1080p with 120hz on hdmi and 12 bit ,good for games such as cod and fifa
32 bit & pc rgb are better. Personal preference I guess though
I get PC RGB and 30 bits per pixel on my Msi G2712
Should I enable VRR as it’s adaptive sync or will that cause input lag
@Tmffmush always keep vsync off unless you experience excessive screen tearing.
@Tmffmush vsync locks your frame rate to the monitor (adaptive like gsync or amd overdrive are similar but not as aggressive - these I would use if possible)
Holy cow, just got a new xbox series x and I couldn't figure this out. Thank you! Subscribed :)
Anytime ! Thanks ! :D
Bro my screen has squiggly lines and is side ways so now i don’t know what ima do

Idk bro i got same w u and mine isnt working
Check my new updated video and try that.
This definitely worked for me
THANK YOU SM IT REALLY WORKED
Glad I could help :)
Bro you just saved me 200 bucks thanks bro❤
Ayy! That's what I like to hear!
I LOVE YOU
😀
Thx
No problem! :)
My monitor can only run 60 and 1080p, my monitor is super old
Therefore this won't work for you.
Mine can only do 60😢
Check my new updated video. may be your monitor.
Is this working on xbox one
YEP ! Hz yes, fps no. Older hardware should be able to select 120HZ - BUT you'll still be restricted to the 30-60 fps cap on the console itself - therefore negating the improvement. Its best to try this one the s/x & Series S/X consoles rather than the original xbox one.
@@TURTLETIMEGAMINGOFFICIAL thank you so much
What if I set it to 120fps and when I set it, it kicks me out and gives me 60fps itself?
plss help❤
this means your monitor does not support 120hz.
when i try to change the refresh rate it goes black and says no signal and same if i turn the resolution to 1440p
Your tv doesn't support it
Can I still get 120 fps if I’m playing on a pc monitor and have my controller connected to it?
yes bro
Yes.
i’m on the first gen xbox one black and i have a 165hz monitor and i can’t seem to find the hz section to change it to 120hz or 165hz.
@@TURTLETIMEGAMINGOFFICIAL i’m on the first ever xbox one and i think it’s capped at 60fps
Fps yes, hz no.
Does this work with the original Xbox 1? Because i have a 120hz monitor and I’m stuck on 60hz
Your monitor itself also may have a setting you need to enable. If it has a game mode, try changing it to that.
Thank you sm 👌🏽
I got xbox one s and 165 hz monitor abd won't work , can anyone help?

DAMM BRO THANKS
Thanks man. I use my BENQ 144hz monitor and was getting so frustrated I couldn’t take advantage of that with my Xbox. This video was straight to the point, quick, and full of all the info needed to make this work. Been sharing the video with anyone who plays Xbox to make sure they are getting the most out of their console. Once again thanks man (: hope you win every game and beat every boss
Means a lot! Appreciate it! Every share helps :)
thanks this video helped me so much
my old tv ruined this
You may need a newer monitor/television
Yo bro I did this and now my screen keeps blacking out how do I fix it
Watch my "how to put your xbox in safe mode" video. Only way to fix it.
Next time, look up your tv's specs before trying to force it to do something it cannot do.
when i do it the colors on my screen change to just green pink and some dark color, what do I do
@@jayyjohh lower the bit per pixel
I have a monitor that’s 100 hz that I got for Christmas would it be able to run 120 with the series x?
It's likely not, but it doesn't hurt to try!
@@TURTLETIMEGAMINGOFFICIAL even with hdmi 2.1 or switching the output to hdmi
@Isaaccarcano445 xbox only supports 60, and 120hz. Nothing lower, nothing higher.
