@@adorabledeplorable5105 That's not true. I was a Navy recruiter from 1981 - 1984. I had one, yes one, person accuse me of lying to them in the entire 3 years. And what she accused me of I had no control over. Back then a Navy recruiter had nothing to do with schools, etc.. All we did was give a example of the Navy experience and fill out the application for enlistment. And if a person had a speeding ticket, well we had to get police reports from the town, county and states. If they had any police involvement that meant referrals from all places of employment, school transcripts, police reports from every place the person had lived, worked or gone to school, plus personal references. The girl who accused me of lying said I lied about her being able to get an "A" school. I never discussed any type of school with her as she had the brains of a can of corn. At the time getting any type of billet for a female was few and far between. She had an asvab score of 38, which barely qualified her to get in, much less get any type of a school. Recruiters had nothing to do with schools. There is a saying among sales people, "Buyers are liars" and it applies to people talking about recruiters. Some Marine posted about the integrity of the recruiters from the Marines, Navy and Air Force. He didn't mention the Army, but I will. They flat out lied to kids all the time. Was ridiculous.
William Gibbs I respect your input and I am not doubting the way you did your job . I am just saying this particular E-7 was not honest . I worked under officers that were great and some not . I worked under an E -9 who was the best man I ever worked for . In fact our div officer did not like him because he had to much pull with the Captain . The chief did not make E-9 without knowing his job . The Captain knew this as well . V-2 Division is one department on a carrier that the Captain knew he should listen to the chief because of 25 years of experience . Everyone in most occupations have seen and or worked with the good , bad , or ugly . I know when my daughter joined the navy her recruiter was very honest and helpful . I don’t put everyone in the same box . It is what they say and do to me that distinguishes what box I put them in . Thank you for your service and reading my reply .
@@williamgibbs3199 brains of a can of corn LOL...not going to lie that is one creative description of someone without being flat out cursing yet gets the point across. 38 is quite low. Thank you for telling us about this experience. Sorry you had to be accused of something you had no control over, it probably didn't feel very good.
@Ej Nappe my recruiter was the same way, I watched videos like this before and after going to her and she was straight forward and to the point. I am very lucky!
I was a Navy recruiter for 6 yrs. Here are the top 5 things I lied about. 1. Wow! A 32 on the ASVAB is a good score! (It was the bare minimum... but I am not a dream crusher.) 2. Girl, when you get to bootcamp and loose a couple pounds, all the guys are going to be chasing you. 3. Yes, I can see you as a Navy Seal. (However most never make it!) 4. You are going to get to see the world. (However, you could go nowhere but a Air base in Oklahoma.) That happened and I felt really bad. 5. The food is great! (Well, I would never actually say that, but avoid that question all together)
I remember the Navy and Marine Corps recruiters visiting my high school and telling us that we could get time off from boot camp on weekends to visit with our families. A lot of potential recruits actually fell for that line.
jay B now I took Army Basic Combat Training in 1970.During Vietnam War.Back then is was only 8 weeks plus 3 days in reception. After week 4,if you were solidly squarted away we got post pass. AND we could(and did) go to bowling center and consume 3.2% light bad tasting beer. No clubs yet just the Bowling Center. Was there for Memoeial day Weekend, and again if solid, and no duty, had entire weekend off. Had to stay withing 10 miles of base. me I went home to New York. Now Senior D.S. knew in his gut I split that far but had no proof. On Tuesday I was his P.T.bitch. After graduation he grilled me I fessd up. he admired my guts and self motivation and cunning. We went to NCO Club.I paid but I went.My MOS was 35-L,Counter Intelligence
@@davidwadsworth8982 Thank you for your service brother! I ended up enlisting in the Air Force and worked in Aircraft Armament Systems on the F-4 Phantom as a bomb loader and gun mechanic. I retired in 2005. Most of the NCO's I worked for back then served in Vietnam. I heard horror stories about "Tet" and about a catastrophic accident in the munitions dump at Bien Hoa Air Base.
@@jayb8369 Jay,thank you for yours. Do Air Force recruiters sell thing s and make promise that thry know is not going to happen? To me the ones I met were straight honest.
@@davidwadsworth8982 I can't speak for the vast majority of USAF recruiters, but my own was very honest with me and I was able to gain my guaranteed field after basic training which was Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist (aka Aviation Ordnance USN, USMC). I was very satisfied with his answers to my questions.
Retired Marine here, just had to defend the Navy recruiters, I was Marine recruiter, and I can say that Marine, Navy, and Air Force recruiters overall are outstanding.. you notice I said nothing about the Army recruiter..haha.. watch your back..
true that, I went to a marines recruiter, scored a 99 on the pre-asvab and he told me to join the navy instead, unless i want to be a glorified truck driver. good guy.
I got the orders lie. I finished A-School in Pensacola back in June. Finished top 5 of my class out of 20 and got the east coast, west coast, and overseas. I chose overseas and they sent me to Oklahoma. Hooyah.
My recruiter was excellent. She actually listened to me and made sure I chose the career(s) that I wanted. Great support. She really worked on my behalf. Also my dad is a retired Marine. He was with me every step of the way. I’m sure that helped a lot 😆
if you're a good recruiter you know not to lie. kids these days know how to look things up online and know who to talk to. just dont take advice from people who have never been in the navy...
My recruiter kept it real. But then I spoke with the chief, he said all those bullshit. I spoke with chief over the phone so while I was talking chief my recruiter was nodding if it was true or a sales pitch. I wish more recruiters were like this because at first I was on the fence but since he kept it 100% real I knew I could trust him and I went through with it.
JTsuits he's a cool guy and kind of quiet but he's not very informative on some things. I'll find out soon though, I picked my rate and everything already. Leaving for Great Lakes on January 9th
Reese davis Yo what's up Bro I have a contract as an AO. Shipping out this December. I'm here in California in my DEP. I would like to find out where are you in your process in joining the navy bro I'll give you some good advice and tips and pretty much a heads up when you head to MEPS and also preparing in and out of DEP I just turned 18 bro message me on snapchat at @ericdasavage or message me on Instagram @maxfield187 message me asap bro
I toke the Picat and I got 90. I told my recruiter i won't join if I don't score 90 and above. I strongly agree it's a lie. Now, it makes me wonder why they need to lie to me
My friend, youre talking to people who havent entered the military and possibly havent spoken to a recruiter yet - but are using a lot of jargon, both navy and military specific. You have to assume these people dont know anything.
Like a juvenile detention center at hard labor, only I didn’t do anything wrong is what I like to say. Still, it inadvertently made a man of me I guess.
The part of the video that made the most sense is 6:55 to 7:49, the determined sailor will make their own success. As far as going to sea, it's the Navy, plan on going to sea at some point or just don't join. All the rest of this video? If your recruiter tells you this bullshit, call them out on it. I was a Navy recruiter, I never told anyone any of this bullshit, I told all of my recruits that it's like any other job, you will have good and bad days, you'll have easy and hard days. All of the success you might have in any branch of the military is up to the individual, not the service.
Here's my take. I joined the Navy at the ripe old age of 17 in 1983. The recruiter that I had was actually quite honest. He was a Second Class AT and he told me that he could tell me how glorious the Navy would be but he wouldn't do that. After signing the papers and having my father sign to let me join, I spent the next 4 years in Aviation and the rest of my career until I was medically discharged in the teams. The bottom line is this, the military will do what it takes to get you to join. The military life is not an easy one and generally, the job you do is directly related to your aptitude and demeanor and not based on what someone promises you can do. That being said, the military is not for everyone. So, if you are in the military and complain everyday about how your recruiter screwed you, perhaps you shouldn't have joined to begin with simply because you don't have the aptitude nor the demeanor for it.
I'm undesignated Pact Seaman I'm going to MEPS tomorrow and then I'll enter the 2 week quarantine period. I appreciate you JT for making this video and explaining the lies some Recruiters say.
JT! I'm going down to MEPS to join the Navy and become an AW in just a couple weeks! all the paperwork has been done, just waiting to get my date for MEPS! Thanks for all the information, and for helping me make my best decision for joining the military!
Glad to see its the same for you yanks as it is us Brits, when i got out of British Army basic training and got asked really think and consider then pick my top 3 locations i want to be posted to (all my choice were bases in the UK). I got none of these and ended up spending the next 2 years in Germany haha
When I joined the recruiter was a little shifty with a similar changing jobs line, but did have some good advice about preparing for boot camp etc. At my boot camp there were a handful of undesignated recruits who were able to get an A school but it's much better and easier to get one at MEPS. If you draw shore duty orders at some point in the Navy, depending on where it is, you might be given a BAH. For Instance when I was a Corpsman I was TAD to the Navy base in Bahrain for six months, I lived in the barracks (which was more like a hotel lol) but a colleague of mine, a single E3 Corpsman, who was there for a year did receive BAH so he could rent a place in town. But like JT said, this is an exception, most rates will find you on a ship or if on shore in the barracks as lower ranking enlisted.
im a navy recruiter, i tell my applicant straight out i can only sell you the navy now base on your asvab and base on your physical and background if your citizen or not. i also tell them straight out that you can just tell meps that you dont want that job, or if they pick a job theyre he or she are not obligated to leave with that job. i tell them also job in the navy is like stock market sometimes the job you want are there and sometime theyre not. i tell them straight out also that if you do good scoring a 95% and above most likely you be able to pick station you want but not guarantee. and undes are most likely be offered to greencard holder because they have to complete theyre background check prior leaving for the navy. and my first command i seen 90% of undes strike the job they wanted that because they volunteer outside theyre working hours to learn the rate they want and submitting the pqs prior being up to strike. i tell my applicant straight out what theyre going to because in the future ill be working with them. i tell them what the realistic base on my experience and what i actually know. for striking if your up, you dont wait another 6 month to strike, you have three looks once your up to strike now its your option to wait another six months if you miss all those three looks. and its up to your NC if his keeping up with the community rates and kept on notifying them that so and so want to strike, you also got to remember that what if seaman timmy want to strike CTI but both of his parent are not citizen do you think the navy will give them that job. think outside why the cant strike a particular job a good NC should be able to explain why they cant strike. about going underway you join the navy. about the quotas its true but you have to look at it this way my station for example 5 recruiter we are goal to put 6, that mean we need to put one each month and one have to put two. i put three or four every month i tell my applicant straight forward about it because they see me process other applicant at once. i tell them straight forward if you dont want to join it is ok i dont need to lei because i have other applicant. "i rather have you not join than join and at the end of the day you tell me your not willing to ship because you dont like the job you want then i have to find a replacement for you. all the negativity you heard maybe they got a mess up recruiter or maybe you got a mess up career counselor that doesnt want to do extra leg work to help theyre sailor to strike. why sell the extra pay like housing or what ever it is when it is not guarantee. just be straight forward to your applicant. it is simple know what your applicant want from the navy, tell them about the navy good or bad, if they still want to process tell them straight out that you understand everything. i feel bad about those sailor that got miss lead by theyre recruiter not giving them the entire details, recruiter need to spend more time with theyre future sailor or applicant and tell them what theyre getting in to and what need to be expected so in the future no one will post something like this video.
I'm currently a Navy recruiter first thing I tell my applicants: 1) Pull up your phone and be on google. 2) pen and paper, list the things you don't understand and research it. 3) If what im syaing is too good to be true google it. 4) I tell the Applicant im Selling the NAVY not a job.
I went undesignated and loved it. God is Great. Navy is Awesome. I put that extra time in the evening after work. It's the Navy not everyone qualifies. The food is great and my recruiters were awesome. Best decision ever.
I think this is one of your best videos, I agree with all of your points! I about fell over when you mentioned that a lot of Cryptos don't go to sea. Over 20 years for me, and I never went to sea, even though I wanted to (I assumed Navy = Ship). Some Cryptos do go to sea, though, it just depends on your specialty. And Air Crew, also. They did send me to Iraq a couple of times, they call us "Sand Sailors." Great video, and great advice!
I thought my recruiters were my best friends when I was signing up. After I finished bootcamp in the marines and called them from mos school, they said (not quoting), who are you again? I never noticed it but the reason they were so friendly to me was because I was what they called a "stud." I had the look, weight, pt scores, asvab scores, education, and age all on point. Beware, if they're really nice to you, you maybe a recruiters wet dream waiting to happen. And once you're in the service, they're done with you. So don't expect any special services or anything like that later on. I would like to note that, my recruiter had promised me a $3000 sign up bonus, and I actually got it.
OMGitsBaMbOOzLE all im gonna tell you is the realest thing he’s telling you here is about going PACT. If you got conned into that dont even go to boot camp frfr. ask to go back to meps and change it. because once that happens to you you’re completely in the hands of the navy, they paint it like you have a choice in your career but you do not. your eventual rate as well as your orders are completely out of your control. but the navy is going to paint it like it’s your choice. do not do it.
The first lie you mentioned almost happened to me, luckily I had someone in the Navy to talk to. If you're in the process of joining/wanting to joining DO talk to someone who is currently serving (like in person/over the phone) it'll help a lot.
1. 5 types of chicks in the navy. 2. Sea Stories: Peeps who went AWOL in a foreign port and never came back. 3. 5 types of new officers 4. A new Mrs. Suits vid
I wanted to be a combat medic more than anything. My Army recruiter flat out lied and said "Well there aren't any openings currently." So if you're thinking of signing up-take your time and explore every MOS, talk to veterans, but DO NOT rely on your recruiter. Their sole task is getting you to sign up, then talking you into some bullshit MOS they're slim on.
James Robert If you go to apply for Walmart and they’re only hiring for part time night shift stockers and you only wanna be a day shift full time cashier, but all those positions are currently filled, you’re not getting a fucking job. Same goes with any large corporation. Military isn’t any different. You gotta think, there’s only so many jobs in a fiscal year and if everyone in the United States are applying for the “good jobs” or the same jobs, they’re going to go fast and only so many people are gonna get them. Medical isn’t a large career field. And the total number of medical jobs are going to be broken down throughout different recruiting squadrons state wide. So every location is going to be greatly limited. Whether you want to believe it or not. What’s going to always be left over are the larger career fields or the harder ones to get into because they have extensive requirements. And those will always get the push because that’s what they’re primarily hiring for because that’s what they need. If you’re so fixated on a specific job, go to fucking college. Because the military doesn’t care about what you want. No other company caters to people like that, why should the military?
or... you can actually message people that are already in the Navy... as in... people who finished Boot Camp & A-School and is in their respective commands... :)
@Claus lmao it's fine, kid's an idiot, probably won't even pass boot camp if he can't handle a little playing around without getting butthurt. Probably a sheltered child, thinking everyone owes him something. Like, I have full faith he wont. AOs know how to take a punch and land one back in at least a slightly witty way. I guess there are things worse then AOs! hhhaaa
I must commend you--I have NO interest in any kind of military or anything like this; however, I just spent the last hour listening to your videos. Good work--you earned a sub!
You're so on point, this happened to me exactly like you mentioned. I wanted to be A CTR 6 months after i arrived at my first command, told me I needed to convert to seaman first since I was an airman undes.
I was in the navy back in the early 90's as a radioman in Japan , dealing with message traffic. Because you had to have top secret clearance in a secured building they did give us a food allowance because we could not leave the building to eat or get food. We had to bring our own food. But because of that we had to pay to eat at the galley. We liked it when the ship cooks would rotate to the galley they would make some really good stuff
I was on Guam as a radioman and we were allowed to leave building 112 on NAVCAMS WESTPAC for meals during our watch. And we didn't have to pay for our food either when eating in the dining hall , On the ship it was called the mess deck not the galley.
My recruiter was like "You might wanna look into other things than MA because everyone does it" I was like alright so I'm between MA and LS now. Totally different things but they both seem like something I want to do...
Ronald Jones yeah I️ live in SC I’d love to go to Great Lakes just for the fun of it, but idk yet. And I️ really want my first tour in state and then the next one out of state
And if you want to change your job at the "PRD" you have to be currently in a "not critical" job rating. Yes, it's true; certain jobs and certain ratings fall under a prioritization. Essentially, you may never be able to change your job. It's possible to apply to an officer program, but remember, there's only a percentage of those people who get accepted to be a Navy Officer (regardless of having a Bachelors degree).
I'm so happy I heard you say that Cryptologic Technicians (CT) probably won't be deployed on a ship. I'm enlisted as a Cryptologic Technician Networks and I ship out in June, and I'm so relieved to hear you say we probably won't get deployed. Subbed just for that relief
JTsuits if you're still getting demonetized, it may be your using copyright music or videos. Maybe check that out if they pull that on you with this one?
JTsuits! Love the videos. Quick question, do you think I'll get picked out more because I have tattoos in RTC? Leaving in Jan. and I'm excited either way. Thanks in advance
Hey JT! Love your videos! Been watching them for a almost a year now and I finally got into the Navy! But I have a question that I'm afraid to ask my recruiter now that I am finally enlisted. I was injured before I signed the contract but I thought that it would heal normally, but it didn't and I never noted it on my health sheet. I think it's a torn tendon in my finger. Should I tell my recruiter, even though it's after the fact? Could that ruin my enlistment if I tell them? Thanks!
As a recent AM student. You CAN NOT PICK WHERE YOU ARE STATIONED. With that said if your the top very top of your class you do have more of a say, but most the time they will send you to the same coast your home is. (Not my case)
Hey jsuits I signed up for corpsman turns out they need them I plan on going greenside what's the odds that I can and if so wouldn't that mean I don't go out to sea? Love the channel keep the videos coming!
I was raised as a Navy brat and enlisted right after HS. I'm the 'black sheep' of the family I suppose, I got out after 8 yrs (GMM2) - My father, stepfather, and older brother all retired plus 20 (E-8 / E-9 / E-8). It's been many years now, but every word you said rings true. No idea how I happened across your video - but nice job. Go Navy.
Lol I went undes seaman, loved it. No responsibilities and just do what you’re told. Wanted to go BM but at the time it was closed up so just went Corpsman, pretty skate 😂👌🏽
Caleb Rivas Ik this comment is really old so you probably won’t see it but it’s worth a try how long were you out of bootcamp before you went to school for Corpsman?
My recruiter told me that since I'm if high risk decent, I may not pass clearance for nuke. I signed for ls against his judgment but it's the job I would like if I didn't get nuke. He put my nuke package in so fingers crossed. That dude is straight up, honest, and answers to the best of his ability.
1:26 I can attest to that, I was going to pick HM at meps but, before I went one of the recruiters said "you don't want to be a pecker checker do ya" at 19, I was like "Uh No" so chose radioman instead, what a waste.
I was a recruiter for three years and heard lots of these lies from other recruiters in the office. I didn't bullshit the kids I put in. That's probably why I wasn't a very good recruiter. I knew at the end of my recruiting tour that I was getting out of the Navy so I had no reason to lie to kids as it wasn't going to help my career at all. The first RIC (recruiter-in-charge) I had was a real piece of shit. He was constantly lying to not only recruits, but his recruiters and his wife as well. He would keep us at the office until 2030 making cold calls off a high school class list. Dude was a real scumbag. He would also take the government vehicles home with him at night since he lived like 50 miles from the office. He was an expert salesman though, kinda like those assholes that sell you timeshares. Total narcissist as well. Luckily he left about halfway through my tour and our new RIC was cool. I barely did any recruiting after that and spend a lot of time going to the movies when I was supposed to be prospecting for new recruits.
One point that was correct but incomplete... The BAS (food money) is both true and false. If you live on a base, or work on a base you are completely correct, they give you the money and take it back since galleys are available (either way food is covered for yourself). If you happen to be in a location where galley is unavailable (recruiting), the base galley is shut down, the ship has a yard period and the ships galley is down or you are on any type of duty independent you get the full amount in the paycheck as compensation. Also if you go on leave, travel, temporary duty somewhere, you will get the amount of BAS in your paycheck to cover the period you are gone so you can buy food. Just adding this for the readers so they can get a full understanding how this works. I always had my full BAS amount as a recruiter, when my LPD was in the ship yards, a few times when the galley on base was out and every time I was in C school or TAD since galley is only "free" for those who are actually stationed there. Good video. I am currently on recruiting duty and yeah there are recruiters out there who will tell you what you want to hear and there are honest recruiters. My office tells every applicant that whatever we say can be verified by Google and youtube. We are simply here to tell our stories. I let them know that if they truly understand the product we are selling, they are more likely to enjoy it than if they discover we lied to them. Plus, it only takes one person to spread the word that we are a bunch of liars to ruin a market for that branch. At the end of the day it is a job, the job asks a lot and has some bad days and it has some awesome days as well.
My Recruiter told me the whole truth. I was doing "grunt work all the way up to 2nd class. On a small ship it was necessary especially cleaning. There was a lot of truth to the saying a clean ship is a happy ship not 100% true but I was never on a dirty ship that was happy. Even CTs go to sea usually on carrier's LHDs and CGs. I am impressed with this video. Love the dogs
Jesus Christ. Do research for yourself instead of relying on a recruiter to spoon feed you everything. Pick a job because what company is going to pay you a decent salary with no experience??? I just hate when people complain about the job they want. Hell you may pick a job and hate it. It’s a job, you’re getting paid. You’re not on the street or living in your parents house. People just need to grow up and stop demanding what they want. Zero work experience and you’re demanding a specific job you want.... smh
Stan S maybe because some people want to join to gain experience in the military and transition to civilian life finding a good job based on military experience....... I’d be pissed too if I didn’t get the rate I was going for..
mcmilbc it’s because he or she doesn’t care about you just like most people in the Navy! Recruiters lie don’t join the Navy period. Your job in the military is all conditional on your health, asvab, and record!!!! That’s the truth! You can not just have any job you want guys I just got out the Navy! Like a month ago you want an awesome job?! Go to college and earn a degree that’s where it’s at you don’t need the military to give you an opportunity at college.
mcmilbc good I’m proud of you dude, now I don’t regret the Navy, it gave me “some” experiences not more than it should have. I’m out now I’m a CIVILIAN CLASS lol
Don't know if what happened with me at the recruiters office is how they still do things. But, I took a written exam at his office that day and then selected Hospital Corpsman. So, I went in as a Hospital Man Recruit & was told I would get that "A" school after boot camp. Towards the end of boot camp the company I was in spent a few hours taking written exams. At the end of the exams those of us with high scores were told we got the "A" school we signed up for. Sure enough on my orders was HOSPITAL CORPS SCHOOL NAVAL HOSPITAL SAN DEIGO CALIF. The one thing I wasn't told by my recruiter is that I eventually would be ordered to FMF SCHOOL Camp Pendleton Marine Corps training. Then to Viet Nam with the 1ST BAT. 1ST MARINES DA NANG. Well, as you can see, I made it there and back and out alive & after my time with an HONORABLE DISCHARGE. ⚓🇺🇸
But but... I LOVE Galley Food (';') ( ';').. sooo tasty! I used to have to sample the galley food at SSC when I stood CDO, and I had to interview a student, you know, to see how they were doing and what they thought of the food. I also inspected barracks. Nothing but FUN in the U.S. Navy! You, are absolutely spot on with this video! Walk into the Career Counselor's Office and the first poster on the wall -"My Recruiter lied To Me"... and there was a pacifier hanging next to it. Choose your Rate, Choose your Fate - truer words shipmate. I hope every new recruit watches your video BEFORE they sign a contract. Stay IN, don't QUIT, and trust me, you WANT TO BE DEPLOYED!!!! While you're single, unincumbered - take on the most challenging assignments and distant duty stations you can find!!! JUST DO IT! Ok.. I'm retired and so is my wife... I mean, what do I really know anymore. Listen to this guy, he knows! I'll be sitting here "away from humanity" sipping cappuccino... that's right, Cappuccino in the Chief's Mess!!!! Anything you want to eat, they have it!!! BUT, you have to make Chief.. so, there's that.
Very true! I wish I could do it all over again as well! Copenhagen, Holy Loch, Portsmouth, Halifax, the Caribbean, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Perth, Fremantle, the Orient, etc, etc... and glad that 1) I was only 17 when I joined, and 2) Was able to get stationed on BOTH coasts, and 3) Was able to retire! The first two years sucked (to an extent) but once I made 3rd Class it was all uphill from there! W.E.T.S.U.!!!!
JTsuits. Ma man ... you’re a lifesaver for posting this video ..I’m 25 years old ..have a wife and two kids ... this video put shit in PERSPECTIVE. Thank you sir for taking your time to post this. My current choice of position is naval aircrewmen helicopter ... if you have any advice for me please let me know Thanks
And what the hell is wrong with Boatswain's Mates? Without us, there would be no ship floating. And by the way. I was able to get what duty station I wanted. Overseas Italy, and I was undesignated seaman that struck Boatswain's Mate, just as my grandfather (my mom's dad) was. SO don't knock down the undesignated sailors
Hey..!!!! My first duty station was Weapons Test Squadron at China Lake and I loved it. 40 minutes from the Sierras, 2 hours from La and Las Vegas, and the weather let’s you ride motorcycles 363 days a year. There was no Galley, so we got food allowance and bbq year round.
RUclips helps these new young people & college students decide what to do with military careers. I never had that in the late 80s.
You are correct and they are more wise now. Thanks youtube for helping these kids. I wish I had that opportunity in the 90s but it is what it is.

(It was the bare minimum... but I am not a dream crusher.)
2. Girl, when you get to bootcamp and loose a couple pounds, all the guys are going to be chasing you.
3. Yes, I can see you as a Navy Seal. (However most never make it!)

He’s probably taking about a school, where a lot of times u get weekends off.

oh my lanta lmfao
My recruiter kept it real. But then I spoke with the chief, he said all those bullshit. I spoke with chief over the phone so while I was talking chief my recruiter was nodding if it was true or a sales pitch.
I wish more recruiters were like this because at first I was on the fence but since he kept it 100% real I knew I could trust him and I went through with it.

All of the success you might have in any branch of the military is up to the individual, not the service.
a sailor can make his own success, its just easier when you have an "A" school after bootcamp

Love that you get to the point with substance. Way too many videos of ppl talking in circles for 20 min.
"I don't believe in luck, I believe in working hard and creating your own luck"- JTsuits that's the absolute truth.
In one phrase, "The needs of the service come first" US Navy 1964 - 1968
Get everything in writing. If they aren’t willing to put it in writing and sign their name to it they are lying.
JT! I love the videos! Im currently at china lake and we make "holes" jokes allllll the time! Much love brother!
My recruiter didn't actually lie to me, but he sure put a lot of lipstick on the pig.
"i rather have you not join than join and at the end of the day you tell me your not willing to ship because you dont like the job you want then i have to find a replacement for you.
all the negativity you heard maybe they got a mess up recruiter or maybe you got a mess up career counselor that doesnt want to do extra leg work to help theyre sailor to strike. why sell the extra pay like housing or what ever it is when it is not guarantee. just be straight forward to your applicant. it is simple know what your applicant want from the navy, tell them about the navy good or bad, if they still want to process tell them straight out that you understand everything.
i feel bad about those sailor that got miss lead by theyre recruiter not giving them the entire details, recruiter need to spend more time with theyre future sailor or applicant and tell them what theyre getting in to and what need to be expected so in the future no one will post something like this video.
do you tell that that being undeignated is a good thing?,,i hope not..lol
Can you join the navy if you filed bankruptcy?

Eric Gambrel Same😂😂😂
I thought my recruiters were my best friends when I was signing up.
Eric Gambrel Same as my recruiter
OMGitsBaMbOOzLE wow what a throwback lol

If you go to apply for Walmart and they’re only hiring for part time night shift stockers and you only wanna be a day shift full time cashier, but all those positions are currently filled, you’re not getting a fucking job.
You should do a video over the top 10 most demanded jobs in the navy.

When I was in A school we had a wish list. Pick 3 places you want to be stationed. I chose east coast on a ship. I got Japan air craft carrier. Ha ha.
My recruiter told it like it was. Back in 73, retired in 94. Glad I did it. Saw and did things most people only dream about.
As a CTN, more than likely you will go to a shore command. But it is always possible that you might go TAD to a ship for a deployment.

He put my nuke package in so fingers crossed. That dude is straight up, honest, and answers to the best of his ability.
1:26 I can attest to that, I was going to pick HM at meps but, before I went one of the recruiters said "you don't want to be a pecker checker do ya" at 19, I was like "Uh No" so chose radioman instead, what a waste.
you can pick where ever you want to go...the challenge is the needs of the Navy.
🤣 going to look for recruiters, goes to movies
I'm finally almost done with CTI A School and got sub orders for DIRSUP. Super excited!
My recruiter was really good and straight up w me and that was the best, and I can’t wait to leave next summer once I graduate hs
My recruiter changed offices and lost all of my paperwork in the transition.
lol sounds about right
Happened to me too.
mcmilbc it’s because he or she doesn’t care about you just like most people in the Navy!
Daley Radford I have a degree. Not worth it imo.
mcmilbc good I’m proud of you dude, now I don’t regret the Navy, it gave me “some” experiences not more than it should have. I’m out now I’m a CIVILIAN CLASS lol
Was in the Navy (Seabees) and the Marine Corps. My recruiter in both were completely up front with me.
JT in the central time zone I’m in you missed the happy birthday by a few minutes
Like 62 minutes
;)
I’m talking to a recruiter later today so thank you so much for this. 😂
Okay am I the only one that thinks JT sounds almost exactly like demolition ranch or Matt
like if you agree
JTsuits. Ma man ... you’re a lifesaver for posting this video ..I’m 25 years old ..have a wife and two kids ... this video put shit in PERSPECTIVE. Thank you sir for taking your time to post this. My current choice of position is naval aircrewmen helicopter ... if you have any advice for me please let me know Thanks
GO NAVY!!! Beat ARMY!!!
I like this dude! He talks real blunt.
I think Don Rickels was a Boatswain's mate while in the Navy during ww2. He also made seaman first class.
The top motivating things RDC's call you. Been at A school for 2 months, I still remember some of the great knowledge my RDC's dropped on me.
I've been in the navy for 3 months 💪
mark klewinski fucking liar
mark klewinski you are a fake man you are pathetic and weak don't even try to deny it's easy to tell
Oscar Bravo Delta Mike boi
mark klewinski Stolen Valor.
Nice bro. I’ve been in a month and a half.
Hey..!!!! My first duty station was Weapons Test Squadron at China Lake and I loved it. 40 minutes from the Sierras, 2 hours from La and Las Vegas, and the weather let’s you ride motorcycles 363 days a year.
There was no Galley, so we got food allowance and bbq year round.
Hey now! I live in China Lake! But, it's pretty trash so you're right. NAWS for the win. 😂
I appreciate that my recruiters didn't bullshit me at all
