It's so exciting that your homes are qualified to be modular home on private land. Most places don't have zoning for tiny homes. Good deal 👍
I feel the tiny home movement is more about getting our priorities straight rather than being about affordable housing. I believe more & more of us are tired of being ruled by stuff that doesn't bless us or serve us every moment of every day & the big houses that require too much time & effort to maintain simply to accommodate all the things we neither need or truly value.
@@bluebird4805 The point is people are slaves to their big homes & their useless & worthless stuff regardless of the financial burden. I wasn't claiming that owning & maintaining a home isn't costly, that's a given. Even owning & maintaining a tiny home has its costs, but it takes a lot less time & effort allowing for greater peace & more opportunities for actual living. Rather than all the stuff we keep inside our over-sized homes owning us & ruling--& ruining--our lives, with tinies, we can own our homes & live free.
I think I would want 2 cottages with a big deck adjoining them!

I hope Modular Certification will spread to other states soon. ITH should hire a traveling lobbyist to get other states onboard. It would payoff in more sales for ITH in the end.

I have been thinking about the people who lost their lives on 9/11/2001. There is a tribute at the Pentagon (which I saw in Summer of 2002), and I remember there was a tribute made in Pennsylvania too. Randy, I am so sorry that you lost your friend in 2001. I also want to wish you a Happy Birthday, Amanda, and hope you are feeling much better. Another idea is to build a deck over the hitch and put some skirting under it too. Best wishes for Matt and his family.

I did envelopes like that starting in the early 70's. It wasn't long before I took it one step further. Every January I ran the numbers and figured out the average of what we spent for everything the preceding year and divided that by the number of pay periods we had. That money went into a separate checking account. From that point on, the money was there for everything when it was due, mortgage, savings, insurance, food, clothing, and utilities. We charged everything and paid the bill in full every month.
Never stop doing what you guys are doing. Keep the outside corporate investors out. Keep it a small family/ community business. These large ultra corporations have too much power in our country right now and we need more disruptive small start ups like you guys. You’re helping so many people have hope again.

I love you two and love my America! Never will forget 9/11. Was listening to WOR radio while at work at Overlook Hospital that day. From the roof we all could see the black smoke from the towers and driving home the Westfield NJ train station was still filled with cars.... so many lives were impacted forever😪

I texted my life group from church after I saw the video about Matt's cancer and that her was going for treatment so they could pray for him. I will update them and if you get an address for he and his wife, I'm sure the life group members, only 7 or 8 of us and 3 of us are married couples, would send cards to encourage them. Thanks so much for explaining some of the legalities you might run into with setting up a tiny home on private land. I'm in Florida and wondering if you can build them to meet Florida's higher wind codes? Praying for Matt's speedy recovery, juicing is a wonderful idea!
There are some of their tiny homes already in Florida. They have tied them down and they came through a hurricane just fine.
I agree, if you know where you want to go, meet with the zoning Dept and talk about strapping it down. Wishing you the best.

Do you have to have a foundation in order to be modular certified?
@@3shassx It depends on your state/local regulations; they did a long discussion of it starting at 18:00. As a general rule, "The buyer (owner) of a modular house is generally responsible for providing the necessary foundation support."

Yes, I know of the envelope method of saving funds, have used it in the past and still use it now. It really works and everyone can do it, just takes self discipline not to tap into said envelop whenever the whim hits you.
I am thankful for what you both are doing and watch your videos everyday you post them. Amanda and Randy, you both and your company ITH have become a part of my daily activities. You both give me and many others Hope for a better future. Keep moving forward with your visions and keep doing what you are doing.
